  1. So due to having to downsize my work space, I have to get rid of my g-nose. In decent condition, one little ding on the passengers side but could be fixed with a fibreglass patch from supercheap auto. Need to get rid of it. $200 come and get it!
  2. Hey everyone, I'm looking for a set of bolt on flares, they're going on the ZX however I'm after S30 flares. Any reasonable condition, pre-drilled, pre-loved I don't mind. Worn in aero looks better on my Z anyway. Cheers Zac
  3. Rear end is being dropped, stretch is needed to ensure full guard clearance at full accel. 235's shifted too much on corner transition too.
  4. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=4986729119025&set=vb.1623451284&type=2&theater May not be everyone's cup of tea but hey, it sure is mine!
  5. n0 flame plzzz 215/60 on a 10J. Bit of a stretch, took 3 tries with 2 bead blasters but looks the part in my opinion. Did have 235/60 on my meshies but I'm not a bulge guy, I like a little angled sidewall. New bolts in the wheels, torqued down properly, limited edition gold XR4 centrecaps, 4 of only 1200 made.
  6. So this is a bit of an update. Quite a few things have happened to this since the last time I posted on here. Pertronix Ignition Fuel Reg and return pipe fitted USDM 280ZX Fender mirrors Debadged bonnet Orange bumper lenses for both park and indicator New front lip, supposedly locally made about 20 years ago. 'Datsun 280ZX' stamped into it 15x7.5 -7 and 15x10 -25 SSR XR4's, fresh bolts and rubber. New ideas on the cards include: C110 Skyline rear tail lights and surround Custom pantera hatch ZG wide flares (possibly) Paint job (finally) New 2.5" exhaust from headers back (very soon) RB20DET gearbox Big thanks to Jason for all his help lately to get the car to where it is.
  7. You ain't seen oni-kyan until you've seen this. Kapow! And nah I don't use shiet tyres, either Continentals or Bridgestone RE001's are my personal preference. It's the only part of the car that contacts you to the road after all!
  8. I can definitely respond to the fact that when a car has 'stance', it doesn't always mean it lacks in performance. I mean sure, oni-kyan definitely affects performance negatively but in my case, running my big chunky tyres has hindered my performance. I get way too much sideways shift on the rears due to high sidewall height and it's shocking in the wet, many many impromptu skids have been cut. I was way happier on the 205/50's, im switching back to my low slung ways as soon as the rain eases up, looks better, performs better but attracts more cop attention.
  9. I thought I'd seen your Z at some downshift meets! I took the Crown last time as I'm trying to palm it off in order to spend a little more dosh on the Z and my new EP71 Starlet, but next meet will be my Z, I've got stevo with the white 240Z and then there's the blue 260 2+2 that frequents every now and then.
  10. I've always been interested in the scene but would never class any of my cars as stanced but more old school shakotan styling. For example my Z used to be 35mm off the ground before it got defected. I also did the same thing to my Crown, dropped it on it's guts, probably 55mm ground clearance. Always loved the look of lowered cars, hate the practicality of them (and the police presence). Mind you I'm all chunky and stuff now seeing as I have to keep it legal, but it's by need, not choice.

    L26 Block

Thanks Jason! I have a friend who has his old workshop available at his command (his apprentice now runs it) and will be able to help me build this hopeful monster.

    L26 Block

Are there any easy signs to distinguish the early and late model heads? I'm definitely going to be careful when it comes to the combo, piston +valve is going to spell the end of any engine if not properly worked out. I have a good friend here in Brisbane who does all sorts of work for L4 and L6 engines who will give me tips etc on the build. I'll probably end up getting a dyno on the current 2.7L L26 I have to see whether an increase in displacement will produce larger figures.

    L26 Block

Thanks Peter! How nicely does an E88 head fit onto an F54 block? The reason I ask is that my engine is a supposed 10k build by Datrally (told by previous owner on this forum) and it seems pretty warm compared to standard L28's I've driven. If I were to go F54 with flattop pistons, would there be clearance issues? I have yet to get the engine spec'd so I couldn't tell you rod length, camshaft profiles etc.

    L26 Block

Just asking a simple question, can you bore out an L26 block as much as an L28 block? I'm considering going 2.9L with my Z but wanna know if I can just bore this L26 out. If not, can I reuse the L26 crank in an L28 bottom end?
  15. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Also Peter your post made me laugh, looks good man haha. Doing battery location asap, so it's not an issue anymore!
  16. Thanks man, It'll stay a solid plate for now, just because I don't want water in the stacks. I'll be improving my air flow soon but currently doesn't give me any problems in terms of heat, even in nose-to-tail traffic.
  17. Thanks for the comments guys, both positive and negative! The battery relocation is first on the cards today, along with the new fender mirrors and cold air ducting as Jason says, plus I've got some new and different changes to come in 2013. I can see why people would class it as 'rice' however in my opinion I would not class it as such.
  18. I run DHLA40's, I've got a mate in Brisbane who builds L4 and L6's professionally and he suggested i get the manifold angled. Ill get a dyno before and after to show, if any, change in performance.
  19. Finally got round to doing the perspex vent cover on my Z, the Crown has been taking all of my time. Just thought you guys might like to see a different style. The reason for doing this is to cover the velocity stacks as I'm getting the intake manifold shaved to angle the carbies upwards around 10 degrees. Wanted to stop water from dripping into the intake as I didn't like the idea of hydrolock. Old vent Took that old thing out Traced it onto the perspex and cut it out with an angle grinder Angle grinder to the bonnet to open up the vent space too Using only the best of equipment. Finito Now gotta tidy the engine bay, the century battery looks like a lego block, so hideous. Also polished the headlight covers as they were scratched as all hell, nice and clear now. Also permanently fixed the damage to the front bar which sits level and straight now. This was inspired by this ZX
  20. I can definitely second what everyone is saying already. It really depends on what you want from the car itself. I myself wanted to go with triples in my ZX, and whilst I love the sound, the smell and the raw power band given by them, I have to say a decent EFI setup would be a LOT nicer as a daily driver and the power delivery would be more reliable (and cheaper). My setup hasn't been tuned in god knows how long so that might be half the problem. But take into account what you want from your Z, that'll make the decision for you.
  21. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, I'm gonna be seasick before the end of the first lap!
  22. True dat. The car seems like your style Nic, would match up with your 280ZX pretty nicely. At the moment it'll stay one of the family but never know, might have to liquidate some time in the near future.
  23. Hahah cheers dude! Found it about 2 minutes after I joined a forum in the for sale section and snapped it up. All it needed was a water pump, oil and rad flush and new spark plugs and away it went!! And when I say I couldn't sell it I mean no one wanted it. Had about 4 or 5 people mess me around with it but no one bought it. So it fell under my wrath to become what you see here today. This is how it started
  24. Hey guys! Due to the fact I couldn't sell it, I kept it and turned it into this. It's a 1987 Toyota Crown MS135 (S130), personal import from Japan, picked it up for $750 about 8 months ago. Just finished the major aesthetics today with the new front suspension setup to lower it down a little. Just thought you guys might have an appreciation for cars like this! Merry Christmas everyone!!! As if one S130 isn't enough they say.
  25. I saw sparks significantly more than on two occasions! Who are you trying to fool Aubrey! Sure sure, blame Shaun, did the sight of a P plater's 2+2 S130 in your rear view mirror the whole time despite your leadfooted-ness scare you a little? I hope we can all get together for a track day one day soon. I'd love to see what the Z's limits are!
