^^was going to suggest this one for patch as he has trouble with flashing from other auto helmets. For someone hobby welding or occasionally, it might be a bit overkill though. Especially if they are arc or mig welding. For low amp tig welding they are the bees knees and I am waiting for mine to pack it in so I can upgrade to one but my current one just does not want to pack it in. The digital elite ones are awesome when working outdoors or under bright lights as they will not "trigger" under those circumstances like mine does when I look up sometimes into the lights or have my head in a weird position.

Then I would recommend the miller elite series, that or a speedglas one. http://www.millerwelds.com/products/welding_protection/head_face/helmets/elite/ I have been using a miller one for a few years now and it has performed well. Minimum of 4 sensors and a large viewing area are the main things I look for. Also, the weight could be an issue as well if you plan on doing a lot of welding.

Hi Spider, although I haven't seen this car in the flesh I would say that if I was in the market to buy, I would definitely take a long look at this one. "but have no problem spending 20k instantly if there is very little risk/downside involved." I have the same issue when I walk into a casino. My advice there would be to slap your 20 grand under a mattress if you are looking for low maintenance/low risk!

Sorry to hear that DevilZ, If the buyer doesn't go through with it, I guess you have at least learned a valuable lesson by taking a deposit next time? Either way, It won't be hard to get another roadworthy if you need one at a later date. Price is pretty good, just a waiting game to find the right buyer now.

I guess there would be good and bad news stories about using them. I have tried a couple of different types (the green slime ones and the aerosol ones) on old tyres as tests. They work pretty good but I would only use it as a temporary, limp home type scenario and then remove it as best as possible from the inside of the wheel/tyre afterwards just to be sure.

Worse case scenario is I carry a puncture repair/aerosol can to limp home or call my 24/7 towing service (the mrs)

I just have a piece of 3mm aluminium sheet that I had laser cut in the correct diameter that I am going to mount over the "hole" where the spare wheel went. I am probably not going to run a spare at all.

If that's all you need, just drop into a sheetmetal place with a couple beers in hand and grab some offcuts from the floor. You might even get some pieces from their scrap bin for nothin. I bet if you looked hard enough, you'd find pieces like that lying around the house. Hey, had an idea. You need a piece the size of a 50 cent piece? How bout welding a 50 cent piece as a patch? Or is that a "fiddy cent" sized patch? He's a pretty big bloke so that patch would be a fair bit bigger. G-Uuuunit!
