  1. Scoot, check that the fitting on the radiator is exactly the same as an original fitting, if you have had this prob only after the new radiator was fiteed AND you did nothing else, the radiator has to be the problem
  2. then try another cap I replaced everything on that diesel, never did find why it was overheating. no water in the oil so was'nt the block, only thing was the head. how far do you drive before it overheats?
  3. you can buy a kit from repco that will show any gases in the cooling system or get a radiator place to check that. you may have a cracked head/block that is putting the pressure/heat into the cooling system. I had a diesel that did that how long does it take to have the problem?
  4. check the cap pressure, maybe the wrong one is fitted, to much pressure? Z's run about 13lbs or .9?testing pressure is 23lbs or 1.6
  5. with readings that low and that different, more than 10% between the highest and lowest cylinders, I would expect some major work will need to be done :'(
  6. if the front carbie is the cause for the low compression, then #3 wouldnt be that high and carbies dont give compression. if you can hook up a vac guage to the front carb with the engine running that might give you an indication of the problem. my guess is head gasket as compression is low between 1 an 2 or broken rings on 1 an 2
  7. I have some other things you can do but I think theres enough there for now :'(
  8. the readings of one and two cylinders may indicate a crack/split in the head gasket between the 2 cylinders also check the color of the plugs
  9. another way to "find" a dud cylinder is to run the engine for a bit, then lightly feel the exhaust pipes at the head to see if one or more is running cool/cold
  10. some years ago I helped a guy who had trouble with a gemini, thing would idle, rev no problem but wouldnt drive, the engine would cut out or have no power to move the car. turned out to be a wire connection at the distributer, wasnt making full contact, maybe look for someing like that but your compression readings are a worry
  11. with the engine as hot as you can get it, normal opperating temp is ok. all pugs removed, as is ,take a reading of all cylinders, then still with the engine hot, pump a small amount of engine oil into a cylinder then take a reading, do this to all cylinders, this is the"wet" part. If the readings go up, this will indicate certain problems, usually worn/broken ring/s
  12. BULLZED, when you did the compression test, did you do a "wet" reading or "dry" reading? rule of thumb, if any reading is below 10% of the highest reading it meens a rebuild
  13. Adam, I thought the headers you had chosen were in firing order? the ones in the fotos arent
  14. John, thats a deal. the actual forming doesnt take long, making the mold takes the time then making a "part", usually a thin styrene one, just to make sure everything lines up etc
  15. oh PLUS ONE THERE! ok,,,,, settle down now ;D
  16. +1 RAYRAY, good read
  17. John, mounting these has always been a problem and the acrlyic used has always been hard to work with, brittle, cracking.UGH! One material that comes to mind is G-PET, its easy to work with and flexible and its easy to heat and form.Theres also a clear styrene. I was "playing" with the notion of forming a complete "cover", still allowing lights to shine through but not having to screw anything in place as well as easy removal. so the entire bucket is covered with , maybe a lip to fit in the gap next to the bonnet which would keep it on still working on that,
  18. I vac formed from 1983 to, er now, mold isnt hard to make, mounting wouldnt be hard either. 3 x90degree angled "bits" to attach to the cover and the headlight bucket, attach rubber "C" section around the lip/edge, done. probably come in around $150-200 a set

    Re: Tee shirts.

these any good? the" NISSAN" is actually silver, size is XL, one offs made for me by Petes wife,Brookie
  20. thats looking good there, looks almost a mirror image of the Z guages facia..................hhmmmmmmm....posibilities there
  21. Brabham, is that the engine or the other "person"? LOL
  22. I wonder if Larry has any Lamborgini tractors, their supposed to be the worlds best
  23. Fotos of the Z's and the new workshop for them. This might give some, who are looking at erecting "space" for their Z or Z,s, some idea of space to work in/store in. this shed is 6x9meters, plenty of space to work in, as well as space for work benchs etc concrete floor still to be done. :'(
  24. that kind of works, doesnt it? only if you put down the 5 and carry the 83.......LOL
  25. if this is the first 240Z imported into the USA, how come it has 260Z tailights? you would think they would have stayed with the 240's? originality
