  1. No, it costs too much to fill up
  2. Whoohoo, I'm excited The left side rear suspension is complete, a bit more welding etc but it's bolted in with all the angles and dimensions from the chosen suspension programme setup in place and correct. So now the car can be rolled over to get access to the right side so it can be done. Of course there are pics, two pics which I hope are self explanatory but note that the two lateral control arms are shiny aluminium and that there is a mutual supporting (blue) brace going from the upper inner pivot to the lower inner at the bottom of the diff, static roll centre is right there too but it's invisible
  3. Notice how Jon is having an absolute ball driving the Zed and just getting on with it, that's how us Z car drivers roll In contrast to that Porsche driver who thinks he is going to win outright but sooked out in the rain and had a big rant about how he'd had not got the Georgetown right and if he had another run he'd do a lot better. What an absolute tosser, typical.
  4. Medium compound I think he said and yeh, hit some debris on the road and damaged the front suspension on the last stage. So seventh overall with that damage is simply super, if they fixed the damage over night then watch out you pretenders, engine is smoking a bit though.
  5. Day 3 has been dry, Mr & Mrs. Siddins are now in 7th outright http://www.rallysportmag.com.au/home/other-news/tarmac/11371-white-extends-lead-on-day-three-of-targa-tasmania
  6. Sixth overall on day one is pretty sensational
  7. That's what written on their Z.
  8. A problem to be solved before going further with the Powerglide Gear Vendors combo, the GV shifts electronically, the glide mechanically. Apparently it's possible to convert the glide's valve body to electronic shift but the US supplier won't talk to me, it should not be that difficult though if I can get hold of the right bloke here, need engine braking too. If that can be done then the next thing is to get a electronic setup for driver controlled shifts, probably going to go with a paddle shift arrangement rather than a floor bump shift like the 280ZX has. Have found a promising device that is primarily for driver controlled shifting rather than the usual more expensive devices which are multifunctional. All the above is so that shifting is made to be as simple as possible with an OE type mechanical shifter on the floor for PNR only. All this to save 50kg and reduce parasitic loss but if it all works properly then it's going to be a damn good setup for circuit racing.
  9. Is that an in tank pump setup there, looks very tidy.
  10. lol Mr Siddins, Mrs Siddins.
  11. Peace and goodwill and all that but let's not get carried away here Aub
  12. Yeh, no more BS, let's have a big forum love in
  13. 2A Sports Car? Might be easiest to contact your CAMS office to find out who can do the log booking for you and then discuss it with him.
  14. Looks like James holds a Sc lap record or two http://www.groupsracing.org.au/laprecords.htmlAnd on the subject of Porsches, that bloody Stan Adler (who used to own Jason in the 280Z) a 59.9 at Lakeside
  15. For the Q nationals Morgan Park was booked more than a year ahead, for these nationals I did wonder what the track event was actually going to be and where, it took quite a while for solid info to appear by which time I was committed otherwise.
  16. Not really, both are highly developed dedicated race cars and if JF is not a pro then he is a very experienced driver with the big advantage of his home track. The Unique 300ZX's time was put up to give some perspective to James' time and to stir Jason.
  17. If the tax has to be collected by the overseas supplier then forget it, they simply won't be bothered selling into Australia. And what will happen if a overseas supplier simply ignores GST and sends the goods anyway? As Gavin detailed, Australia is full of commercial pressure groups who lobby in their own commercial interest without any relevant consumer counterparts to oppose them. Accordingly we don't have a true democracy here, something that the major political parties could not care less about.
  18. Yes mate, worth the trouble though, you would love it specially in your car.
  19. Not living in Brisbane puts me out of the Z car loop but one thing that is very important when running nationals is to be in close and constant contact early on with the other ND clubs, there are so many distractions these days that like everything else they need to be promoted, a web site by itself is not enough. I needed a fair bit of notice to attend to things on the 280ZX rather than work on the Z31 project.
  20. Behave Pretty good driving, love the flattening of the L sound when it's pulling multi revs on the straight.
  21. There is nothing odd about the Unique 300ZX Jason, seeing that you want to get personal you seem to think that anything that you didn't do is odd. Honestly a Z32 would not be my first choice but it is a Z and the amount of development that has gone into it is way more than you ever did or could do with anything and deserves to be recognised. Unfortunately in this country the only racing class where a S30 can be sort of competitive is Historics but we all know in advance that a S30 is going to be beaten by the best Porsches so good luck with that. In the US modified Zeds are able to compete on a level playing field with all sorts of cars, as you don't seem to realise racing has moved on as has the performance of production cars on a race track. As far as the Nats go that was a great performance by James Flett on his home track but obviously the S30 competition was weak for a number of reasons eg Jon Siddins wasn't there. It's just a pity that the real performance potential of the S30 is so restricted for racing in this country, who knows what good drivers like James could do if that wasn't so.
  22. The boss of Harvey Norman is the reason why I don't buy anything there. Boycott!!!
  23. S30 owning Porsches, takes a Canadian woman though. Great circuit.
  24. Has to be log booked or road registered for sprints, be great to see a S30 doing them.
  25. Yeh I know that the specs of the Unique 300ZX are not 'simple', I started a thread on it being for sale here. So look at it's price compared with a race S30, bang for buck is important to us less monied enthusiasts. While the rapidly increasing S30 prices are good for some they are not so good for others, racing a car and being concerned about the availability of a replacement body should you prang is not conducive to the best race experience. Reality check blokes.
