  1. No I only removed bell housing and rear casing, a visual check only. It's 2.5hrs nth of melb at moment, was guna make it a boxing day project.
  2. I have to remove my calipers and discs, hold the caliper horizontal so bleed nipple is pointing straight up,then bleed..... otherwise air stays in caliper piston bores.
  3. I have a spare 5spd box I want to fit to my car, mine is crunching 2nd all the time unless i double clutch...... It has brass syncros (are they good)? Came out of a 260 2+2 that crashed, according tithe owner it worked fine until the crash. Now it goes through all gears normally but only goes into 5th sometimes and never into reverse? I Pulled it apart 6mths ago an nothing looked broken or bent, any ideas guys?
  4. Simon, I run a 72deg cam, It seems to 'come in' at around 3000rpm. That suits me fine, good for street and means I don't have to rev its tits off on the track also. I only had su's when first fitted but seemed to make a noticeable difference. I have info on the correct lash pad thickness and where to dial the camshaft in at, if you want it just pm me.
  5. Anyone know of the best/cheapest place to get cobra race seats?
  6. G-works eh, i thinks i may be getting some of these, which book stores are they available from? (i'm in melb).
  7. I have visited John to get parts a few years back, i had relatives in lancefield and ran into him on the main street. I talked to him recently about getting some doors.... He knows his stuff, He's a very easy going and good to deal with! Last time i saw the cars they all looked reasonable, any zed could be fixed with time, but some would require a LOT of time. 13 zeds I have zed envy!
  8. Wow, excellent result congratulations! Nice pics too, tell us what mods you've done, if you don't mind ofcourse Gav.... Maybe a feature car?
  9. I've seen some ugly cars and I think this is right up there.... Looks like a cane toad, too many lumps n bumps in all the wrong places!
  10. I second Cdr Zero! Pirelli p6000's as a road tyre I found to be quite grippy in dry and wet, with a good tyre life also. I have since gone to semi's for track days, the difference is night and day!! Have dunlops on at the moment but found toyo r888's to be fantastic, their wet grip is unbelieveable.
  11. I told him to reshedule his bday cause its Auszcar bbq........ strangely he wasn't as keen on the idea as me
  12. Can't make it guys :'( my friends b'day in balnarring. Hopefully somone can take a heap of pics? If last years is anything to go by it should be a great day, have fun!
  13. Ok Thanks NZeder your a wealth of knowledge! I've thrown it out, broken housing It's just a parts car I've had for a few years, cronic rust and mountains of filler, fred flinstone would love it It was $400 so far I've used the extractors, rally clock (with the second hand), passenger foot rest and front struts from it. Think I'll keep it for future projects.
  14. I've looked very closely at the block and it says L20 not L20a (should even there be an 'a' on it)? From memory L20b four cylinder doesn't have the 'b' either??? I'm a little confused, can you dumb it down for me What bits are worth keeping? Thanks
  15. Not sure of the cylinder head number but it does have exhaust liners. It also had flat top su's and all the emissions junk?
  16. Hey guys I have a 77 model 260z 2+2 jap import. It has a 2ltr 6 in it stamped L20? Anything of use in these motors, conrods, crank?
  17. Yeah JNC is usually 5-6mnths between issues. Some times if I need a fix I go on ebay and get Lightening auto or Nostalgic Hero Japanese mags, no english. Some of their zeds are unbelieveable, they even feature ex works race zeds!
  18. Looks nice! Is it easy to make one? I have a mig and arc welder. Mmmmm Hahn Super Dry, the thinking mans juice...... Looks like you've been doing some thinking
  19. All that extra sanding and attention to detail have definately paid off, looks awesome Simon!
  20. His next post will read "how to repair butchered wheels with JB Weld"
  21. This is unbelievable...... bahahahaha! What would he do if he couldn't open/unlock the door? Cut that off too!
  22. Yeah sounds likely to me. Go through the loom and clean all earth points onto the body, there'll be 30+yrs of corrosion under them. Just a light rub with emery paper or sand paper should do the trick.
  23. Go the triples Simon Unless you want a wild cam the only thing you'll need is a low pressure pump. I use a pierburg it was bout $90, try efi hardware think they have em. If you do change your cam, make sure rockers are in good condition and just fit bigger lash pads(mine were 2nd hand) to get correct wipe pattern. Thats what i did with my 72deg cam, thats lasted 2yrs of racing and 4yrs of day to day driving.
  24. Welcome, Hopefully you get as much enjoyment as your Dad did! I think a Zed looks great in any color, and with a beautiful woman behind the wheel it would have to look even better Enjoy
  25. You can use either.... I've been told to use externally oiling cams by many different people. Think it was something about the internal holes clogging up and causing damage. Not sure if there's any truth to this but I've never had any problems
