hmmm I think that just confuses matters. No offence. The difference you are trying to describe is the securing method. The width etc of the shaft is the same for the R180 or R200 (so long as they are the early types). The number of splines changed on the later units (Z32, WRX etc) so they are not compatible. For the early types the securing method is the difference. Some just clipped in place while some had a single bolt. Apparently all the bolt does is keep pressure on the oil seal to reduce leaking. The flange discussion is irrelevant because if you had the flange in the diff it can be removed and replaced with the shaft with the spline built in. (Not that I'm recommending that).

just pop some bolts through. From the inside of the car it will look like they are attaching something under the car. I have done this to attach my fuel pump. Just to the side of where your holes are.

There is a bracket with thread in the spare tyre well. Then there is a bolt that goes through the spare wheel to hold it down. The straps you mention are for luggage to stop them flying around while you do 200Kmph around some mountain bend. I don't think the 240 had the straps though. Mine certainly didn't. There is absolutly no where for them to attach

Shortly after my brother and I fully restored a Jensen Heally. They would have been a great car had they been as reliable as the Zeds. I read in his literature that Jensen considered using the L series zix from Nissan but opted for the Lotus (or should that be leaktus) motor. What a mistake!!

Guys, Just incase you change your mind you can still attend. You can even sign the papers and pay on the day. *****However you must organise a third party extension during the week. Your insurer will not provide one on the weekend**** If you are unsure about attending I recommend getting the extention anyway that way your options remain open right up to the start time.

Guys, I am signing up to participate in the MG Iron Man. The event includes a night navigation run, motorkhana, hill climb and sprint. Its on between 31 July and 2nd Aug 2009. I am mentioning it for two reasons. Firstly so anyone else can also participate. You can do individual events (you are not committed to do all four) Secondly I need a navigator for the night navigation run starting at 6.30 Fri July 31st. Knowing my navigation skills we will finish at 2am Please let me know if you are interested. You will need a CAMS license to navigate.

I put the mechanism from a 280zx in the housing from my 240z. Works a treat and didn't cost a cent.

Yeah I considered silicon and it is better for moulds but more expensive so not really an option for the copies. I'll have to check into pigment.

Wow, thanks for the response guys. I must add though, the copies will be a sort of waxy skin colour not black like the originals. I guess that doesn't matter for most of us though cause you don't see these things anyway. I will get started on them ASAP.

ok here is the go. I am in the process of replacing my hatch with a fibreglass one. In the process I have noticed that one of my rubber boots from around the hinge is no good the other is average at best. Now I am confident I can make a mould from my good one. Then I can use the mould to make latex copies. I am thinking latex because I am used to working with it. It is strong. Just think of the strength in a latex glove then multiply that by about 6 due to the thickness. The latex isn't cheap so I would expect that each copy would end up being about $15 (per hinge) plus postage. Any body interested?

1600Dave, Can you clarify how you attached the multigroove pully to the front of the old single groove pully? Was it purchased or manufactured? More info please.
