Yeah I payed a fortune for my Toyota Starlet because the owner told me it was a 2000GT. I thought the nose was a bit short.

Can someone please check my logic. The background: I have just changed my diff from a 3.9 to a 4.6 My current speedo is in Kmph. There is no speedo cog to suit the 4.6 ratio When I am actually travelling 100Kmph my speedo tells me 140 So heres my plan (I'm broke so I can't afford a new speedo) I figure by changing back to a Mph speedo but reading it as if it were Kmph would then read 87 when I was actually doing 100. So then I need to adjust it a bit more to get it almost right. Assuming I have the 19 tooth cog (I need to check this) I multiply 87 by 19 then divide by 17 to end up with 97.2 In other words if I change my speedo to Mph and get the black cog (17 tooth) my speedo should be usable again. Thoughts anyone?

thats the clubman circuit. 69 seconds isn't all that fast but its only my second time there so I still have some room for improvement. As it turns out I didn't go any faster in the last two laps which surprised me a lot. They felt so much quicker. Not sure where I am going wrong.

I have started on a mould for them but I have been extremely busy and haven't got further just yet. The next week or so should be better for me. I'll keep you all informed of the progress.

Yesterday at QR I know I did at least a 69 second lap. I have only seen the results of the first three runs so its possible (I believe its likely) that I might have a better time again. I was only just starting to get brave on the last couple of laps. 69 seconds is 5 seconds faster than my previous best.

hmmmm. Brain wave. Add a timing light in the engine bay. Add a video camera pointing at the pully. Then add a TV in the cabin so you can see what the timing is doing while driving. Brilliant!!! I don't know how I survived without it.

The Z Car Club QLD is holding birthday celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the zed. They will be held at Lakeside including sprints. It is open to all zed owners (not just club members). I am not organising it just passing on the information. Here is a summary: 26th & 27th September 2009 – Special Event 40 Years of Datsun – Nissan Z Series and 25 Years of the Z Car Club of Queensland This year we celebrate the 25th birthday of our club and the 40th anniversary of the release of the 240Z. To mark this significant occasion, the Z Car Club is holding a fantastic event which will combine social and motoring and allow you to enjoy your Zed to the full, in safe and controlled conditions, whilst challenging your navigation and driving skills. The event will be held over a weekend. On Saturday there will be a navigation event of two hours duration, starting at Mt Cootha and finishing at Winenhoe Dam, with a BBQ lunch. Then on the Sunday will be a driving skills event at Lakeside Park on the following day. Points will be awarded in each event and there will be an advance and novice class. I believe they complete the line of the car. Look from the side and imagine a line running down the bonnet. Without them the line drops off the front edge of the bonnet. With them you get a more rounded appearance to the nose of the car. Its all up to personal preference. You'll get arguments both directions....but you already knew that

I don't know of a H4 with a curve. But I have purchased headlight protectors that hit on any round headlight. They are clear plastic and have more of a curve to them. Ask at your local accessories shop. You might have to try a few before you find them. They last about 4-5 years before they start to get opaque.

you need to do a H4 conversion unless you already have H4s in your car.

Yes the shafts will fit from a R180 into an R200 so long as the number of splines is the same. I hear conflicting stories about the length of the shafts though. I had heard that one shaft is shorter for an R200 to allow for the wider diff. But all the shafts I have seen are the same?

I only found out the reverse rule after the run. Had I known I would have just driven forward. There was still a chance I would have missed that flag any way. In a championship event it would have been a WD but they are more forgiving at the come try days. No times yet. Maybe in a couple of days.

here is me make sure to watch the run that starts at 3:50 even though my wife says "not quite" I actually broke the beam with the flick which means I was totally successful. The last little adjustment to get in the bay does not count in the time because the beam was already broken.
