  1. Got the tunnel back today and rushed home to the "Man Cave" to see if it would all match up. Near perfect fit although just sitting there it needs to be fastened to square and level everything up which with a bit of hand pressure it did as I did the test fit. Then positioned it over the gearbox and looks like I got all the clearances right as well, more than enough room either side to run the exhaust pipes through. Guess I will finally fill in the hole in the floor pan this weekend.

Nick Check the glove box lid, if there is a sticker from the factory on the inside with 2 numbers, these are the key cutting codes for the ignition and entry keys, see example pic. Cheers John
  3. Hi all Just wondering if we have any auto electricians on the forum based in Vic ? I have a few jobs I need done Cheers John
  4. The tunnel was fabricated with about 2cm's extra material all the way around the parameter so until I trimmed it to size it was impossible to tell and I assumed it was correct to begin with. Dropped in there yesterday morning with it and the owner (I presume) met me at reception and went over it with me, didn't seem happy, called the fabricator, a really nice bloke called Allan, and after a lot of hmmmmmmmmmmmm's and ahhhhhhhhh's I was told they would fab a new one for me which should be ready by tommorow. I felt badly for the fabricator but at the end of the day he could have pulled the mock up apart and used it as a template to go by but didn't. Fingers crossed it comes out this time. Cheers John
  5. Cheers Jeff Just sh*ts me that I waited 9 days for it and lost 2 weekends work ;(
  6. Thanks Gordo Unfortunately bending 14 gauge with any accuracy without the proper equipment in a home garage was just beyond me and I figured trying to stitch weld 9 pieces together wasnt going to deliver what I wanted, hence going to a fabricator, I'm sure they will get it right this time because if not theres always a 3rd 4th and 5th at their cost and time
  7. Ok so who can tell me whats wrong with this pic? Time's up, so today I went to trim the fabricated tunnel as it had excess sheet metal around the entire parameter as the fabricator mentioned. It would give me the chance to get a very snug fit. Well I trimmed it all to size, went to drop it in and it wouldn't seat, ANYWHERE Took the cardboard model, tried it, perfect Tried the steel one again, Nope, Nudda, Nicht ! OK, so took the cardboard model and started to check dimensions, WTF ? ? ??? It was larger by 10-15 mm's Took the cardboard model, sat it inside the steel one, it shouldn't even fit inside because the steel one should be the identical size, however you be the judges. As the steel one is larger it wont sit inside the body, its physically to wide in every aspect. So, back to the fabricators tomorrow and will politely ask they bin this one, follow the model, and start again ;(
  8. The cross member has a reo plate on it, however you can still through out the geometry of the cross member by jacking it here through bending the cross member if the jack head is small, you wouldn't do it with a normal jack but rather a trolley jack and even then I would use a good piece of wood that distributes the lead across the bottom face of the cross member.
  9. Much appreciated Richard Yeah they have that 70's period look about them, the outer ring rotates to adjust air flow from closed to full and the centre gimbles for flow direction The A3 vents are OEM direct from "The Farter-land" via Ebay, lucky to score them for what I did AUS$200 as most of the Audi tuner's retrofit them into earlier models so they are rare or very expensive. The clock is the original Jaco but this will now be retrofitted into one of the vents which I will de-gutt.
  10. On the zed, along each sill panel there is a weld lip and 1/2 circular notches at either end and on either side, these were put there during production and are the points that Nissan designated as the jack points. See pic of 1200 attached as an example Cheers John
  11. Jeff..... One word........... Anal ! And that's a compliment
  12. Alan ! It's a friggin orgy ! LMAO
  13. Jeff Around page 23 of this Greek Tragedy (Build Thread) you will find pics of the dash project as per the pic attached. These are probably the best air vents in any car today after I played around with a set in an A3 we got back from Lease recently, so the idea is to use 3 of them in the console as in the pic, with the guts of the centre one removed to encase the Zed clock, where the clock sat in the dash will be the new home for a SC Boost gauge ;-) The mirrors are off an S2000 Honda
  14. Ohhhhhhhhhh And a summary of the contributing parts manufacturers to date AMG Audi BMW Ford Holden Honda Mercedes-Benz Mitsubishi
  15. And today's purchasers Don't ask, too much
  16. David Confirmed, I looked at my OEM never painted grille against the tail lamps and they are the same. Cheers John
  17. And the Tin man has some new bling to be fitted Very happy with the fabrication, bring on the weekend
  18. Yeah so I'm a Gipsy
  19. Simply outstanding George !
  20. Hi Richard Actually asked them if they could but surprisingly they said they don't do it. Will be adding a frame arrangement for each seat that will weld into each side and will tie up the sills, floor sections and wall upright panels so that should strengthen and also negate any resonance issues by sectioning the assy. Cheers John
  21. Working in Mitcham now David
  22. Small but tedious preparation for the new tunnel which Westy's in Ferntree Gully are fabricating and will be ready for pick up this coming Thursday. Today was taken up with removing the 2 seat mount reinforcements on each side of the car, tedious to say the least but mission accomplished. I sat a flat board over the cavity so as I could sit the drivers seat in place just to judge how it will all come together and so far looks the part. Next weekend, tunnel goes in followed by new seat rails which will go from each sill panel inward to the the upward sweep of the tunnel. Cheers John
  23. Think every step forward is going to leave us gob smacked about this build in the months ahead David
  24. Will be watching with great interest
