  1. Hi David, take it you meant the pivot points ? although I'm at work and cant confirm exact measurements, I believe from memory when I was measuring it up at the sellers premises that it was within or close to the 610mm range, will confirm when I'm next at the secret man cave and can get a tape measure on it. Teddy, Dat and Agno, thanks for the opinion's, Ag's brings up a good point, they do seem overly large, may stop in at Kevin Dennis Holden and check them out as they sell new Camaro's. As far as the angular shape, I think they flow pretty well, probably will match well with my intended front air dam set up, but they seem to sit / mount in a similar body line as the S30 which was one thing i picked up on first. Will get back to all as to just how Americana up-sized they are soon. Now, have to raise this point as I will be away for all next week in QLD and NSW on business, and I'm running short on time. The chassis day is scheduled for the 17th and 18th of November, I know a lot of you stuck a hand in the air and said you would come lend a hand with the fabrication so on, for me that's the half of it, it would be great to share with you all a bit of my build, talk a load of Sh*t, down some drinks and good food and take the Mickey out of Simon for a day or two. I'm not holding anyone to their initial expression of interest, but I need to know if its worth while going ahead if there's no interest. So could I ask anyone who would like to commit to coming to post in this thread, I'd really appreciate it. Cheers John
  2. Good evening Zedophiles. I know I'm boring you all to tears, but until that engine mount gets here (tomorrow) and I get the drivetrain to ARC on Thursday there wont be much tangable to report. So I thought I'd throw the cat amongst the pigeons, Ive been doing some shopping therapy, and came across an interesting set of door mirrors for $195.00 delivered, they are heated and fully remote, off the current Camaro. Opinions?
  3. As the saying goes From the mouths of Babes................ Priceless Simon
  4. Simon I'm impressed, that was a very refrained cordial well structured response, not your usual best, are you mellowing? John
  5. This will most probably be the root cause
  6. We have the solution Mick, just need to pull our fingers out. What it will most probably be is the forward slide on the glass, from memory it is a white plastic slide, these wear down and as a result the slide has excessive play within the channel, subsequently the window will start to drop when you attempt to wind it up or down, eventually jamming requiring physical lifting into position. there is a short term fix which is to slot the mount points forcing the window frame into a tighter fit, but this is no answer to the problem. Cheers John
  7. So Ron When are you going to show up this offspring of yours ? he must of got his Midas touch from you so there are some big expectations here. Welcome back John
  8. Never ceases to amaze me to what length everyone here strives for perfection with inovation. This forum (with no offense to Gav) is simple and may seem clunky in ways to our U.S. friends at Hybrid but the content is amazing. Well done Gareth for adding another inspiring chapter. John
  9. Thanks guy's, The tank was a fluke find on EBay, dimensions were right, fit for my purpose, although a bit on the heavy side and probably wouldn't work out for "Speed Hunters or Track users" on this forum, but for what I'm after I'm happy. On the rack side, the rods are too long I'm afraid and will need to be shortened t fit, I'm estimating about 7Cm's each end but this wont effect the racks function as the rods are extremely long to start with. I don't think this will work for a standard Z cross member without some serious new bracketary work at the mount points, they are 65mm inward from each rail and use solid mounted bolts, no bushing material at all. The steering angle looks great, however I know I'm going to have problems nevertheless, so in my secret armory of suppliers, I'm planning to have a double Cardan jointed steering rod made up these blokes in Perth who Ive already spoken to. http://www.screwjack.org/cardanjoints.html Power steering pump wise, either the Benz pump, or maybe an electric Mazda pump, that's still up in the air. Cheers John
  10. Jamo To many mod's to list, but yes electric windows using a commodore set up (in the thread some way back) remote door locks yes, and door trims, well I'm thinking of isolating the inner door skins and then laying fiberglass over then to create molded skins then have them trimmed in the original Z pattern using "Alcantara" synthetic suede as used in Lambo's, it's readily available. But no door speakers, as I have upgraded the heater fan already using a commodore blower set up which theres a vid of in my thread, Im deleting the side dash vents and will mount micro speakers there instead. But those Lanos set ups you used are definately on the cards now. Cheers John
  11. Outstanding work there Jamo But, you just added new items to my shopping list Damn You John
  12. And .....................
  13. Today's updates. Donut tank $5.50 ................................... Fit = Priceless FG Steering rack .................................... Trial plcement all looks great. Mounting of motor and trans to new mobile stand, less one engine mount which should be here by Wednesday, I'm transporting it to John at ARC on Thursday. Cheers John
  14. Hi Jamo Mufflers with an aluminium heat shield above them to isolate heat sink between them and the pan. From the mufflers I will swing the twin pipes across so as they exit at the original Zed pipe point. Should also assist with the rear diff mounting as the M86 uses a rear mounting bush in an awkward place. Cheers John
  15. No testing nor certification required as it wont be holding LPG LOL Jamo Spare wheels are no longer a legal requirement, so either a can of puncture repair, a large phillips head self tapper and screwdriver, or a space saver wheel to sit inside above the tank LOL Cheers John
  16. Suprise suprise Its 650mm in diameter, 265mm deep and has a water capacity as stated by the seller of 61 litres, add the neck capacity and then some when I change the centre from a donut to closed congigurations and Id say close to 65 if not more litres. I think its a pretty good solution. Cheers John
  17. Yup It's official, you all thought it and now I can confirm I am a nut case ! As I mentioned previously in this thread I wanted to get a custom made alloy donnut tank for the car which would sit in the spare wheel well, well I came across something that will do the job with some conversion, won it on Ebay last night. LPG donnut tank, for $5.50 ! Hey I figure if it dosent work, was $5.50 really going to kill progress on the car? Cheers John
  18. About time you pulled your finger out ! I just found a job for you on the 17th
  19. hey david Yeah just checked, the benz is rated at 150 amp's so dont forsee any issues there either. As far as I can tell, the BAF/F set up is the same with minor cariation in overall height to the AU. Cheers John
  20. Hey Jamo You always pick up on these issues, good to see, the AMG has a cooling system bleed nipple in the system, so thats one issue out of the way. As the right hand skirt area will be devoid of the usual S30 ignition and electrical gear and wiring, Im planning to mount the pressure tank and also the intercooler tank in this general area along with a Johnstone CM30 water pump for the heat exchanger which should hopefully provide me with ample play to secure them at the correct relative levels. Ford sell bolt on brackets with the correct rubber bushes to seat the radiator and lock it in 4 places, you can see the pins welded onto the radiator. So all in all Im pretty confident that this rad set up will mimic the Benz set up and sit well within the provided Zed space. Cheers John
  21. Well, Couldnt mount up the motor and box this weekend due to only one engine mount arriving during the week, so looks like next weekend now fingers crossed. In the meanwhile, looks like Im about to blow a load on a M800 Motec set up on Ebay that ends in a few hous time, some serious damage will be done if I win http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320999774637?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 So as always the parts hunt continues, and have done a fair load of reading on some of the ulternatives being used out there, came across some guys in the States using Camaro radiators, then worked out the measurements available on the S30 rads and what would fit width and depth wise in the S30 bay. Came up with this combo out of a BA / BF series Falcon, total cost for new All alloy V8 Rad and New Thermo's $322.00 delivered. Measurements overall (L) 76cm's (W) 46cm's (Thickness Rad and Thermo's) 40mm Any thoughts on the negatives of running this set up? Cheers John
  22. This should be called project Tsunami ! Monumental in exicution, result and the way you hit us all with the thred ! Congratulations Graham, well done ! Cheers John
  23. SOLD Pending payment Cheers John Box and R200 Diff still available see page 1 of this thread.
  24. Great looking kit Rev ! Is the fit tight as they are lined with additional padding? Cheers John
  25. I know exactly where that came from LMAO Maybe I should have tried using one on that roof of yours rather than tearing the ligiments in my shoulder over 2 days of bashing out those dents left from the Eatern European folklaw dancers that used it as a stage to perform on.
