  1. Apparently it's been done before, (at least once), and now no one wants to touch it... (I believe the discs and calipers were originally sourced as a kit from the US so they were probably remanufactured before being sold.) : (
  2. Bump. Going to get kicked out of the workshop if I can't source one quickly. Please help!
  3. I'm after a RH rear brake calliper, as per the attached image, which I believe is from a 280Zx. Happy to buy a pair if required. Pm here or via o428 11o 33for. Thank you!
  4. I bought a set of reproduction lenses, (lenses only, not the full tail light assembly), from Otomoto for AUD500 a few months ago. They were shipped direct from Japan to Australia so I'm sure Ben could arrange shipping direct to the US. Frankly for what I paid I thought the quality was pretty poor, but they still look better than the US spec lenses they're going to replace...
  5. LD28 crankshaft in Brisbane: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-LD28-Stroker-Crankshaft-240z-260z-280zx-/260769781028?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb7171524 Item number: 260769781028
  6. Looks a lot like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-NISSAN-SKYLINE-R30-PATROL-240C-/390305103322?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5adfff3dda Item number: 390305103322 "Here up for auction we have a Japanese domestic market new old stock no longer available TOMEI alloy rocker cover to suit all L-Series 6 cylinder engines."
  7. I ask a, (potentially), dumb question out of interest; wouldn't it be easier to start with a big block of polystyrene rather than forming up cardboard & spray foam? In any case, if it looks even half as good as the photoshop when complete it will be a significant improvement over the original.

  9. It's not a Z, but it's still pretty cool: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-Skyline-1978-Nissan-240z-mild-L28-triples-LSD-/160541012346?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item2560fd717a
  10. I know nothing about this box other than it's currently for sale on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/240Z-GEARBOX-/330518107546?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf46a159a (The same guy is also selling a 240Z which could be a source for some of the other parts you need.) Good luck in your search.

    fuel tank dent

And no hands... This option is pretty dangerous - BUT - if you do have to try this at home, fill the tank with liquid before you put pressure on it. It can still go wrong but it'll be safer than compressed air only.
  13. Apologies if this has been posted previously - I haven't been paying attention... Looks good though - reasonable nick, #233 & matching numbers for $16,500. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=2&R=9854522&keywords=&trecs=9&__sid=12D2FC57CE2C&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=true&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&seot=1&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294966615 4294966408&silo=1011 "Car is in very good original condition with no rust. Car was repainted approximately 20 years ago. An early 240Z - build number 233, with original matching number engine. Has 15 inch Simmons rims, with original rims available if required. Original spare wheel still in place. Original radio and clock still working. New carpet just fitted. Car has just been tuned and serviced and drives and handles well."
  14. Dear Spanner The PO put the plates on the car, I could never figure it out either.
  15. Little Zed But don't worry about it too much - some spanner will always manage to think of something out of the box. A bloke at work who saw photos of my FSTZED plates wanted to know why I had chosen "fisted"...
  16. Thanks for the advice guys. We've got an oven with good temperature control & a thermostat that starts at 50 deg. C so that is my plan B. Having said that, I'd still prefer to fix some broken units if someone is willing to part with them...
  17. Let's be honest: "(Broken lenses REQUIRED)"
  18. Bump. Come on people, they're just sitting there taking up room in your shed. You'll never fix them. Sell them to me & use the $ to go mad on eBay... Please?
  19. While I appreciate the potential output of this system, I can't see how this accommodates the wide range of vehicles 240Z's & 260Z's now encompass. e.g. how do you rationally compare in $ terms an untouched "driven by 1 little old lady on Sundays" single owner Z with a fully rebuilt 240Z RB25DET conversion, with a winning 2+2 rally car? While these cars may sell for exactly the same price they will have widely different values to different groups within the market. Ultimately, achieved market price is the only way to rank our cars effectively in $ terms. Like houses, the vehicles are only worth what someone is willing to pay on the day they sell. (He says, as someone who paid the best part of a house deposit for one of his Z's...) Our cars are worth more now than they were 2 to 3 years ago. They will be worth more in another 2 or 3 years & then more again another 2 or 3 years after that. If you've got one now, enjoy the fact. If you haven't got one, get on board. Please just don't try to gain consensus for what your car is "worth". <end red wine fuelled rant>
  20. Nice hat. What's that big red thing in the background?
  21. I've ordered a set of reproduction tail light lenses from Japan via Otomoto. I was planning to remove the lenses from my existing tail lights, (US spec - red indicators instead of amber), & install the new lenses but given that I've never done this before there's a good chance I'll break something. If anyone has a set of 240 tail lights with broken lenses I'd be keen to buy them to avoid trashing my existing lights. Alternatively if someone wants to swap their good Aus spec lights for my crap US ones....
  22. Only saw the post today... remember that patience is a virtue. I'm keen subject to a suitable date & the Z running happily. If this goes ahead & people don't want to spend $ on an overnighter it's not a massive stretch to drive back to Melbourne in one day anyway.
  23. http://www.abc.net.au/tv/canwehelp/ I'd much rather watch the joyous reconciliation of a man & his long lost Jag than Aunty Beryl finding Shirlene from primary school in 1932 or learning about the origin of the word "disenfranchise"...
  24. Well, that's the Lurch mystery solved. Looks like he's now Revs mother.
