  5. Thanks very much for the offer. Am going Warrugal and across to Warrnambool, Ballarat, Bendigo region then back to Tulsa to fly back to Sydney. Unfortunately won't be getting across your side of vic this time. Happy to pay for post/pack and costs? Cheers
  6. Thanks guys. Loom and gauges not a major issue as doing a custom rally dash etc. was more concerned with the physical mounting of the metalwork. Appreciate the inputs Cheers
  7. Hi guys Had a slight disagreement with a "harder than my car" object and need to replace the headlight bucket (amongst a few other bits). Anyone have a reasonable condition/price drivers side bucket available? I am in Wollongong but will also be in country Victoria (south west mainly) next week for 4 days on business. Thanks in advance Cheers Ian
  8. Guys Hoping to get some clarification. Did a search on the forum to see if prior positing, but no luck. Wanted to find out if the 240Z metal dash structure was the same physical size/mounts as the 260Z dash. I have a 260Z one that i was planning to rebuild for my 240Z but wanted to check prior to putting any effort in and didn't particularly want to to remove the existing 240Z one just to check it that way. Any informed advice would be appreciated thanks Ian
  9. Hi Am based in the Illawarra so on the way to Bega. Also am a little involved in rallying so interested in schedule you are looking at down/back. Have to clear the long weekend and not 100% sure yet, but could be available to drive/assist. Let me know whether of interest and what schedule you are looking at down/back and logistics etc. PM if you prefer. Cheers Ian
  10. am using the same on my 240Z. The magnet has a small flat that aligns with the distributor shaft. Try turning until it slips on.
  11. Hi Don Hayley at Fairy Meadow did some work on my zed (I am from Woonona) and he did good work and well priced. Haven't been there in a while but assume he is still operating. PM me if you want some contact details f his. He has worded on a few zeds prior to mine as well. Cheers Ian
  12. I posted this doc up on the other thread Peter A started so might be of some assistance. the wiring diag looks the same 28820_58e2178eedab8495791c293d6200917706d9d8e0.pdf
  13. Have attached w rite up if it assist at all. The PDF outlines what I did with the Honda assemblies and may provide some assistance if anyone is thinking of something similar. Cheers Ian 28773_e4d28f914ce909ec3f98d35a8c0cb5a803d3d60d.pdf
  14. I did the Honda wiper motor swap a few months back but went a little further by also using the honda arms and linkages. The zed ones were aging and the centre bores and swivel arms were both worn so I "adapted" the honda arms, bushes and connecting arms. This gave me the clip on nylon caps as well as a new seating with nylon bushes. I took a few photos of the steps i went through and will do a quick build doc and post. Ended up i got the newer/stable wiper motor, no looseness in the swivel arms (with nylon bushes) and more stable connecting arms. Initially I wasn't going for looks but functionality and intend to "finesse' the job at some stage with better finish all over. At this stage, it was to make it all work. will drop the build outline shortly
  15. that seems ok. pm me some details and i will see what we can sort out. cheers
  16. i have my business in ultimo and am around the areas between work and the 'gong . what is it that you need to have picked up and then what do you need to happen from there? Ian
  17. thanks for the info, does seem pretty major mod to make it fit.... With that sort of modification, think I would leave it go, thanks. Tim has just finished this year doing the spray painting course, has done all but the main shell of his car now and that is scheduled for shortly after Christmas. my zed has continued on with major engine build and some other mods for the rallying. haven't had much chance for any competition recently with the business but have an early EOI on an entry on the 2014 Sydney to London Marathon.... Cheers
  18. hi peter interested in the diff, what is the general condition? Also, what ratio is the unit? Also, you mention that there needs to be some mods, what is involved? Cheers Ian PS how is the build going?
  19. The tridon went and the nissan one went in. Now, the combustion leak test is the next plan and true, the check when up to op temp is the only way to make sure. Am intending to run on the weekend and see what results i get. If need be, will drop the head and magnaflux the unit. Not an exercise i want to do again and pull the head off but probably only way to make sure.
  20. I did have a higher (Tridon) thermo in from the engine rebuild. Replaced post running with the Nissan one. Don't remember the temp setting on it. The big test will be the leak tester and see whether any combustion gasses coming through the radiator water. Everything else having been ruled out, sort of feels like head gasket or head issue.
  21. thanks for all the suggestions. A couple of responses. the engine was rebuilt and went "live" about two months back. Head was retorqued as suggested by normal process. Have since checked again and is down to spec. Havent run the car hard at all yet so not too much chance of over revving yet.. the old clutch fan was replaced with electric fan, with adjustable thermo switch. have tried setting at various levels but still overheating. The rad cap is a non recovery type so shouldn't be an issue with blow by on that. The behavior is heating up to op temp, then runs for a little while and then start to go up with pressure/temp. Sort of indicates a leak somewhere from past experiences. Plan for the weekend is to grab a leak test kit from repco and test the radiator fluid for combustion gasses. If that shows positive, then a leak somewhere and tear down and check. If nothing there, will also take the thermostat out and check that for correct operation. Will see what transpires. Appreciate the collective assistance
  22. Guys I am hoping to get some suggestions to assist. I have a 240z engine that has just been rebuilt, completely from the ground up. Oversize by 30thou, port polish, ATF 2 cam etc. The radiator is 3 row, had the tanks off, rod cleaned etc, new water pump with engine build, new Nissan 71c thermostat, new radiator cap. Did overhaul of fan clutch but then replaced with elwctric thermostat controlled 12" fan (front mount). Car has been on dyno and triple webers balanced and jetted accurately. Behavior is that car runs fine, drive for 1/2 an hour and temp goes up from normal after start then starts to climb. Gets to around 170f and higher and then starts to blow off excess pressure. Can't see anything blowing pressure into water jackets that would show issues with head gasket or similar. Am going to try removing thermostat and just use the electric thermo switch but that seems at odds with normal practise. Appreciate any suggestions/ideas as I am at a loss to cure this issue. Cheers Ian
