I hope the uni is teaching you how to pull the car apart, major rust repair, respray, put it back together and replace all the parts that are shagged...then you might have yourself a $10K car...otherwise you will spend more money than what you will get for $10-12K where someone else has spent the doe. Thats what I did...someone did a full restoration to mint condition in 1997...went through 2 owners who garaged it and drove 33,00 miles and I payed just under $17K (as it is a 240Z)...and Lurch will contest to this, i have made some money in the last 3 years of owning it...not that money matters when you get so much enjoyment out of it for the price. My advise it if you have the money to restore it and get the enjoyment out of it then do it...otherwise it will be parked in the garaged while you save up for the parts. Good luck.

No need to justify your pricing...it is a great buy for anyone. Good luck and hope you have no issues with the sale

Put it to a tender!!!!!

Thats sounds like a better idea Craig...Go straight to Marysville...i hate rushing. I am am sure there is some great roads around Marysville to take up the time. If others feel like Kinglake is a must, as I know there is a good view back to the city through the trees, let us know.

Thanks Lurch...If you could post a Calander note for the 5th of September under Victoria, that would be great. I have never been up to that area, but was thinking of meeting at 10am on Sat 5th of September at the Darling Gardens near the Eastern Fwy. We could drive to Kinglake and be there in about an hour and a half. Have a look around and have a lunch at about 12-1pm. We could then drive on to Healsville and take the glorious BLACK SPUR up to Marysville...then back home. See below for some rough pics on where-is...hope they come out alright.

There is also a big bike ride event which I might go into if I get fit enough on the following weekend. Lurch, you will probably know, but a few mates were saying that with the burnt trees, there is a fantastic view back towards the city.

I was thinking Saturday the 5th of September which would be the first weekend out of Winter Yeah!!!! I would think the area would be fixed up a bit more by then so that the town will be ready for visitors when the warmer weather starts.

Is anyone interested in a King Lake/Marysville drive one weekend? It would be nice to have a look at the area and support the local community. I heard there is some great driving up through there as well. Stew.

You should turn your car into a lightweight caron fibre or fibreglass race car

Seen it when it came out in the cinema a while back. It was good to see, BUT could have been 1000 x better if Eric had extended the film to include why other drivers and their cars enjoyed or bought the cars they did while he was in Tassie. It got a little boring seeing a lot of footage of his old mans car (not a fan) a his falcon which is not a real classic. I gues he made the film for him and not to make a lot of money. I am sure their would have been some interesting stories told by other drivers in how they got into the cars they did.........just like us in our Z.....it didn't need to be long, just some other footage around the other cars at Targa. -
I hate that my work restricts youtube ...imagine if they restricted this site.

Front and Rear Knob bumbers - keep or remove?
stewk240 replied to stewk240's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks for the great feedback guys!!!! ...I will take them off and see what the look it like in the flesh (seen many photo's). The other reason I would like the front knobs taken off is so I can put a tow hook on in that spot as I have a front spoiler. If the car konks out (which I am sure it won't) or is in an accident and needs a tow truck, there is not much else to use without potentially ripping something off....I am sure it has happened to some. Here is some pics of the tow hook I am looking at at www.zccjdm.com. Anywone bought these? -
Have you all heard about the new regulations?
stewk240 replied to TheZFeel's topic in Off Topic Discussions
The rule should state the height from the tyre to the guard...I hate these Commodore's or Yanky Cyrsler 300C with 20-22inch rims where the guard almost covers the tyre...I would have thought this would be dangerous. If you are going to increase the height by more than 5 cm, it should be accepted as Famers need 4x4 for their property and also travel...also club off roading vehicles need it as well. So yes, the gov putting regulations on lowered cars that are seen as unsafe or not set up with the right suspension seems ok if they are causing accidents and hurting people....if they have no evidence of this then typical labor government's red tape revenue raising w@ankers. -
Thats awesome!!!! I need to do something like that, but at the moment the sound of the engine is loud and too good for music...also I need to save for some tripple webers and new suspension.
-
As per 2 + 2 er....where is the meeting...address please and then I will consider.
-
A lot of power for little saftey equipment...i.e. race harness with bucket seats, rollcage etc.
-
Guys, Do you think a 240Z, as original with the front and rear knob bumbers looks better with or without them...Mine are on at the moment but I am tempted to remove them. Thoughts anyone? Stew.
-
Needs a front spoiler!!!! Love to see pics of the engine though.
-
Thanks Kev, if you could ask him from your end and I will ask around from my end...I am not in the market to pay a lot for it so I understand if you want to post it for sale...I guess around $100 depending on condition/fit etc. If it is not cams approved it would not be worth putting in...it would just be for regularity, but as you may know, regularity can turn into racing one day....appreciate it.
-
Kev, I am looking for a half roll cage...second hand is fine for me to put in a 240Z car. Is your's bolt in (hoping it would also fit 240z?) and if so, do you want to sell it since you are fitting a full cage in? Stew (Melb)
-
Yep, I have got 3 as well...pain in the @#*!...doors, boot (+ tank) and ignition.
-
Guys, I looked into this as well...unless you have a race car or tripple webbers fitted and are wanting to do a lot to the car that is not standard, it is a waste of time, money and can give little or no difference to performance. Leave it as it is, as it will get some cold air stright through to the standard intake from the fan and the stardard hole at the front....it was built that way with a lot of research. I completly undersatand if you have tripple webber or want to build a race car. Stew.
