Looking the goods John!!!!

Thanks all for the kind words. I'm really happy with the stance of the car now, not overly aggressive and the control arms are pretty much level so not bad for bump steer. I took her for a quick spin to Mallala Motorsport park this afternoon to check out a car practice day. I was very happy with the ride quality and she tracked pretty well considering I have only done an eyeball wheel alignment, I will get a proper wheel alignment soon. The engine runs well and pulled nicely to 6500 ish. All in all very happy with it, always more tinkering to do but I think I have a great starting point. I think she would like a run around the track too but I'm undecided on that point at the moment, time will tell. The sun was giving some nice reflections in the shed late this afternoon and I thought I would grab a pic or two, hard to capture with the phone camera. Cheers Jeff

Thanks Jeff. It was a good blend of colours. Yeah the stance is killing me but I'm more interested in having a bit of a drive at the moment than getting the ride height sorted, it won't be too long though.

Cars and Coffee today, Vorn and myself finally got to go for a drive together. We thought it would be a good idea to park along side this super nice 1600.

Just jokes, not selling, they will just have to learn to take turns. I'm just happy they like it after all.

Thanks George. Funny thing I was watching your video on FB with your young fella having a steer (very cute and keen)and it made me think about something that happened today. So here's the story, neither of my 2 daughters has shown much interest in my car (other than - can we sell it and use the money to go to Disneyland) throughout the 7 1/2 years it has taken me to build it. Then today I wanted to take my car for a first drive around the block and they both wanted to come (wife was at work). So I squeezed both of them into the passenger seat ( they are not very big girls 10 and 12 now) seat belt around both of them and off we go. They both squealed with excitement the whole way round the block and now they both want to come driving with me all the time - go figure. So now unfortunately the car is for sale and I have to find something with a back seat to replace it.

Thanks, yep really happy with the dash and the colour. THe ride height is the only thing really playing on my mind. When I get the stance sorted, I will be happy.

Yep, bring on tomorrow morning. It's easy to forget how much fun these cars are to drive.

I have had a quick drive around the block, sorry no video yet @George. She drives pretty good straight of the bat with an eye ball wheel alignment. Brakes need to bed in yet, but they seem pretty good too. I must say it pulls pretty good for a stock L24 too, pleasantly surprised. Nothing like your LCR monster @cbrjeff. Video soon!!!! The Go pro is mounted in the car for later when my wife gets home from work and I'm relieved of childcare duties, hopefully before it gets dark.

Yep great feeling, just details now, some real mirrors, some new bumpers, get her to sit right etc. Nothing a bit more time and money can't fix.

Pics galore, this morning I backed her out of the shed under her own steam for the first time in about 13 years. She is all back together except the horns as they still have 49 yrs worth of filth all over them and the pillar badges which are with my mates son for him to airbrush touch them up. First shakedown drive around the block will probably be tomorrow so stay tuned for a quick video. After a few drives I will then do something about the ride height, angle grinder fitted with a cutoff wheel at the ready. Cheers Jeff

Thanks, really happy with it. I used Dupli-Color Bed Armor, the finish is rougher to the touch than the original vinyl finish but does look good all the same.

Dash repair. Before pics, repair pics and end result pics. Very happy with the end result for $70 and a couple of days work.

Thanks for the tip Bobby. I did replace all the bushes with new nolathane bushes but was not aware that the car should be loaded on it's suspension before being tightened. I can't see how it can make any difference myself, but happy to be proven wrong. I expect the car to settle quite a lot once it has been driven but I suspect it will still be sitting higher than I would like. Time will tell, Only a matter of days now till she has a shake down drive. Cheers Jeff

Thanks John, I have to agree. No arguments here. In the early 90's A gentleman bought a E31 head off me, he pulled in my drive way in a 918 orange 240Z and from that day on I have always loved the colour. Cheers Jeff

A bit more progress this weekend. The front end is together except for headlights and front bar. The dash is getting close to being ready to paint and reassemble. My scuff plates were pretty rough so they got a clean up and a Matt black refresh. A few more weeks should see her ready for a shake down drive. Enjoy!!!!
