Apart from a.Fielding being a good driver, the car looks great and goes superbly does anyone know what he is running

Basically we have the same set up brake wise, cam , springs and even the 3" exhaust and funnily approx. the same km's on motor It was my first time at Wakefield so was pretty stoked at my times ...40.4 sec for the short track Especially being only the second time in the car , the other being on Fri. before Sunday Nats. The brilliantly presented orange 600z has the Arizona brake upgrade so I am investigating this option. It surely has to be a huge improvement compared to running the Hilux conversion, our horsepower surpasses the stopping capabilities of them. The r888 are slicks or semis?

1. 09 and only using 3&4 gears , hugely impressive After just being there and doing a 1.11.5 and getting into 5 down the main straight,I changed into 5 before the finish line,my rev limiter stops me from exceeding 6200rpm, your engine must be revving to buggery , what does she rev too I am running A t56 6 speed behind a LS1 with slight race cam developing 335rwhp What are your tyres semi or slicks and what width [235 x40 x 16 ?? ] What type of rotors and calipers, vented etc I would love to know so I can improve i forgot to mention that my car is the 240z with the extra wide rear end...number 43

As i stated, I only had 24 days to finalise my 240z [ 2 years in developing] so I could participate in the z nationals .Farming and play lead to little sleep ,especially at sowing time which is Now. Firstly the fiberglass guards were installed and the rears bonded to the original fenders after cutting them back by 3.5 inches. Then off to the wheel alignment place to do a basic race suspension setup. Resulting in custom tie-rodsbeing manufactured and installed [ approx. $400 ]. This enables 4 deg. of camber.i had previously converted and installed ford xb castor rods which has enabled initially to have 2 deg. castor To fill the guards out so they won't look like an empty tent,I purchased 25mm spacers for the front in conjunction with 245x40x17 semi slick tyres. The rears created there own problem and 45mm spacers were custom made and in cohoots with 275 x 40 x17 sem slicks fill the guards out magnificently. The idea of using spacers on a race car didn't sit well with me but over $2000 for custom made rims forced me into this way Took the car to the painter for a quick, and I mean quick , lick of paint and some body smoothing/blending filler for the fiber panelswhere they attached to the steel guards. Then it was back to the suspension place to set car up height and weight wise With only 2 days till testing on good friday, which will be my initial test and only practise day,I am under the pump. So TOday. Installed new fuel filler location, windscreen wiper, gearshift boot, battery/fuse cover panels, headlight guards with the chrome surrounds [ they look sweet as ], mount fire extinguisher and headlight low/ high switch. Oh yeah raced [actually went quite sedately, I needed a break] to town sometime in amongst that to pickup Blue Hawk brake pads which I will fit first thing Fri morn. before we track test the car. OH yeah in between work and car stuff we also modified the car trailer with longer and wider ramps and redesigned the rear of trailer to accomodate the 196cm rear track width The good news being that the Z basically is ready. Perhaps not to go at race speed , but should be atleast 80 to 85 %. Hopefully so will I. To those who haven't left yet see you at Wakefield Park...If tomorrow is successful

They don't want to utilize one more hour per day of daylight, but Easter in Qld is a week earlier?....I can't work them out Although the chocolate will be fresher

The IMSA package does include a g nose front with a matching lower spoiler that incorporates the front guards, my problem was the cost, so decided on a couple of bites instead of biting off more than my wife would let me[lol] After seeing the quality and finish of the fibreglass guards I am now contemplating getting the lower spoiler and then perhaps the g nose. The main trouble for me is that I really like the toughness of the 240 front as is, which probably some will find amusing as I have changed the original shape in other areas. Time will tell , especially if I get more serious about cutting my track times At this stage I am still really stoked with the look of the new guards Try this site www.zccjdm.com for gnose etc and then punch into google .... 'zlalomz forsalevendors' ... and check out the race dattos with incredible flaring and tyre width.... oops drouling again

Thanks for putting the pics up Simon. As you know , when it comes to computers, I make a ok farmer. If everything goes according to plan she will debut at the Z nationals. I only have 10 more necessary jobs to be completed and then will be able to test drive. That works out at only one job per day, better double the work up so I can atleast get one test run in before heading to Goulburn. As for tyre size I am limited to 275x40x17 on the ROTA 9.5 inch rims until I can afford to get custom ones built, probably 12 inch.In the USA they ran with upto 14 inch rims So to fillout the guards I'm using 25mm spacers on the front with 245x40x17 on 9.5 inch rims and am having 45mm spacers built [hopefully] as I write for the rear. Compliance date is 1/69 number 406 Bert or Chris or Red[?] , who bonded the guards on , has a rusty hulk with number 98 on the firewall...mmmmm...interesting

G'day , I could be intersted in the G nose and bits if they matchup with my flares ...steve

Due to guard size and engine HP I need to increase my rim width to a min of 12 inches on the rear and perhaps 10.5 / 11 in. on the fronts. The problem of availability could mean that the best option is to send the rims somewhere to be professionally widened. I am currently using the 17x9.5 rota rims allround. Any ideas or names of rim wideners and cost is appreciated

Thanks Dimitri, should have realised that , I think the dimensions and being of box section thru me of. I suppose making the arm from box would save on some weight as opposed to a solid bar
-
If you scroll down and open the Canepa webb site , checkout the other photos especially of the frontend Can anyone tell me what the front end additional control arm would be for on this race car i.e. the forward arm. I was thinking added strenght under braking or just to keep the frontend in alignment under brakes and cornering Any thoughts / ideas ?

Those are the guards I'm attempting to get bonded on at the moment Will definately need wider rims, to fill guards out properly, when I can afford them
-
I hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew ,I have entered the track day with only approx. 24 days to go and are yet to have guards fitted and painted, let alone track tested car. Apparently about 60 cars are entered for the track day, so should see plenty of suspension /brakes setups Who else from Vic. is going? If all goes well see you at the Z NATS P.S. the organisers that I spoke to were very helpfull....welldone

How can you not luv the Ferrari 250 gto shape Great interior colour

Un official time 1 min. 48 sec ..per lap.... recommend doing another calculation
-
I realise I"M chatting off subject ,V8 has finally had the guards cut and is presently recieving a wheel alignment [ prelim. ] ,of course that means the tie rods need to be modified[extended ] ,then the IMSA guards fibreglassed on / painted and I can finally test run on track
-
Good luck with your Aussie car selection, I personally would recommend broadening your options to include IRISH and BANGLADESH vehicles ,they apparently build them to withstand harsher environments [pressure ] than the UK equivalent...lol..."Don't mention the war"....errrrrr..cricket

Can anyone tell me the steering wheel spline diameter for a 240 z I am in the process of buying a sports [smaller diameter ] steering wheel And Lurch before you tell me I'm a lazy sod and go measure it , my car is at the panel shop thanks z men
-
NO , I am not modifying the existing guards , I would like an exact mould of them .They are the IMSA wide body guards / flares They are to be fitted to my race car , considering the cost/ frieght from the USA , I really need to have some backup insurance if I happen to damage them. Otherwise wife might deport me ...probably to Yankie land where I would have to learn a different language

Interesting how Canadians hate the French and Yanks but use their languages...lol Then I suppose we don't like the Poms much , especially with the ASHES series upon us Thanks for the info ...six shooter Advise to all Canadians in avoiding terminal injury; Foot should be removed from mouth, before shooting oneself in foot LOL
-
Whats the best and / or cheapest method of taking moulds of existing fiberglass panels. How much approx. would it set me back to get 2 rear guards and 2 i.e. left and right guards done Your knowledge would be appreciated...Steve
