  1. I was just catching up on some banking and you wouldn't believe it but the final outstanding payment of $700 had just been placed into my account. I am so pleased that I can put that distressing crap behind me I think he might also be very happy this financial matter is gone. I wonder if taking my 6' 7" financial fixer ,as I introduced him as,with me last time had anything to do with it...lol
  2. Now that I am motivated I will try to get everyone up to speed on the LS1 project. I purchased a LS1 + 6 speed for $3500 and employed a mates brother, who also races a torana and tunes racing bikes, to fit the motor and gearbox then tune it on his dyno. He did a brilliant job , except for one minor mishap . The car jumped of the dyno and put a small dint in the bonnet and spoiler. His engineering work is first class , I would be posting pictures but his computer is less than second class ,jammed and then lost the build photos.Hopefully I will Con ...NO...demand that my daughter [OK beg ] will show me how to download photos from our' box brownie camera '[Lurch ] for your perusal. Well I've typed enough for one night , so I will elaborate further when time and photos are available OK before I sign off, the engine with a better cam produces 335.8 hp or 250.4kw at the rear wheels . Which is about twice as much hp as the stock V6 chev in my old 260 2+2
  3. Lurch , getting old is a bonus , getting old and excited is just a BLOODY wonderful feat...thanks bud, it took me 5 mins to find my topic and another to lookup the meaning of decrepit
  4. I've been meaning to update my Z family position. The last time I wrote on the "race pace cornering " { under suspension ] topic , I was considering the pro's and cons of transplanting a lexus 4lt v8 into the 260 2+2 or put it into the newly aquired 240. Well circumstances ended up dictating what would end up happening. After many questions to the seller of the 240 before buying I was happy that his description was fairly accurate. That being said he stated that the motor had been turned over on a regular basis, after getting the z home I discovered that 4 pistons had 1 to 2 cm of water sloshing around ontop of them, which explained why the motor wouldn't budge at all . We agreed ,reluctantly that a fair compensation would be $3000 , it is now nearly TWO years and still am yet to recieve the final $700. I have never met a guy that has so much bad luck when it comes to family and finance, you can make up your own mind . I have , and it seems that his circumstances improve only when I visit him at work or his house in QLD south of BRISBANE I LIVE IN NORTH VICTORIA Sorry about the bitch This infuriated me to the point that I cracked a wobbly and decided on a 5.7 lt LS1 with a 6 speed box and went ahead with the 240z V8 conversion. Now before the' true to type 'get on their high horses, the car had previously been tampered [raped ] with.It had had a v8 installed and was in the progress of having a refurbishment done. That included having a S13 suspension /diff transplant. Now my question to all is,should I start a New thread or continue the original one, because the very very wide body guards have arrived from the USA today in Benalla , the car has been dropped of to LOWENs Smash Repairs and I am genuinely EXCITED for the first time since starting this drama filled developement....HAYOOOOO (It's OK guys - Steve is old & decrepit. We have to make allowances for him - Lurch).
  5. I have been in contact with Brendan Forrest [ Premier exhaust and automotive ] in Newcastle and he confirmed that the event is still a goer. He is entered and booked in , so I will be doing the same
  6. Just jumped onto their site , they are still asking for registrations , so I would presume the Nissan Datsun Nationals "Hosted by the Z Car Club Sydney " is still a goer. I hope it is, as the 240z should be ready by then. Definately a starter if the car is
  7. Now I understand my garage parking problems on the skid pan, perhaps a tug was necessary to align the dodge into a more favorable mooring position.............then on the other hand a wiser and more focussed navigator [one that can follow a map / diagram... Simon ] could have been the answer. We definately need a stronger contigent of Zeds next year, perhaps a cruise incorporating the DECA day.
  8. Great stuff Rich With your win the VICZCAR guys have taken out back to back honours . One with a lowly 260 2+2 BUS in the previous year.......lol Hopefully Simon can make it a hat trick next year or perhaps Allan F will discard the Hair dresser car for his Datto Another very enjoyable day , WELL DONE to all the Officials and organisers Richard did especially well considering his 240 was jumping out of first gear
  9. the flared guards that I'm in the process of importing are IMSA from Brian Kostrba , you can check out the flare types at www.zccjdm.com Mine are the wide raer fender flares and the IMSA -front fenders. Thinking of taking a mould in case of breakage when racing Tim , do they do hillclimbs up Mount Stuart, that sure is one great drive.Tremendous view as well.
  10. G'day Tim , We were up in Towns. in the last week of July visiting my son Rich [electrician] I wish we had caught up. I thought you lived in NSW . I have also gone down the LS1 path, picked up a eng. and 6 speed for $3500, my car will only be used on the track. It developes 250.4 rwkw with a slightly better cam installed. Just spent last weekend welding in a roll cage, still have about 30% to go . My 240 basically has the same engine and trans. but the previous wishful thinking "gunna one day" decided to install a silvia S13 rear suspension and diff. It's a pity his so called fully engineered rear end was out by 40mm so I have re-engineered it , hopefully correctly, but I suppose only track time will tell . Used the autometer guages , they fit great and look brilliant,Tis a pity my dash doesn't look as good as yours. I aquired of Ben some 9.5x17 inch wheels for traction and looks, but am still waiting for the flared guards from USA before they can fit on the wider S13 rear.I put 25mm wheel spacers on the front to align [roughly] the front to back. Still have a fair bit to do ,cutting guards ,moulding fiberglass rears onto car, painting etc What brand of seats are in your Z Keepup the good work , also keep the photos coming I lost most of mine with a computer crash ....Steve
  11. I have been in touch with Vic Roads and these are the Regs. If you recieved your licence before the 1 of July the engine rating is limited to 125 kw's / tonne and engine capacity to 3.5 litre / tonne . If you obtained your licence after the 1 of July , then you can drive any car that hasn't a V8 , turbo , or the engine has been performance enhanced.
  12. When I bought the car I was assured you didn't need one and that was from a licenced car dealer. Never had a problem with a roadworthy when getting rego in Vic. I have suggested to Gus to inquire about legallities first before progressing. Much better to get it from the correct authority than people guessing I reckon.
  13. Gus , the engine develops 172hp or 126.5 kw, it's not a high reving engine but has good torque and is super reliable. NO engineers cert. needed when replacing a 6 with a 6.
  14. Hey Scoota are you sure he isn't asking about it being a good buy and wants your expert appraisal , as he lives in MelbOOrne and the car is in the ACT. As he doesn't know the spelling of Melbourne this could be a legitimate request. Lets face it most federal pollies don't acknowledge the existance of life outside of the ACT...lol
  15. Stumbled across wide flares when looking for wide body guards. Thought others might find these pages interesting. Google ' zlalomz forsalevendors ' then download the site. The IMSA wide bodies are the ones I'm after Hopefully someone more computer literate can cut and paste [? ] the site
  16. Grafton to Glen Innes The scenery is brilliant and the road up the Gilbraltar Range [?] is sensational , as long as you don't get stuck behind a caravan.
  17. Thanks Rev If I get up early I should catch them at work
  18. Couldn't contact them over weekend, I think Monday on the west coast i.e. Oregon starts sometime tonight .What time their business hours are to our time I haven't the foggiest I suppose i keep ringing till they answer..lol
  19. Yes I still have the 2+2 ,but have aquired a 240z number 406 that had a old 350 v8 in it. I am in the process of setting the 240 up for track work . It now has a LS1 and 6 speed, it sounds awesum. Some of the 2+2 race gear has been installed into the 240, but the rim / tyre size needed to be upgraded to 17x9.5"x245 [probably will go wider after I get to know the car], hence the need for large flares One problem that I've encountered is that the previous owner decided to install a S13 rear end this has added to the width of the rearend So I have added 40mm spacers to the front end , to even up the track width front to rear Thats why I need the race type IMSA flares , just like the ones seen in the "zccjdm" site mentioned above The freight cost from USA could kill off the dream Those ones on ebay will be worth investigating, Even if they become a stop gap filler until I can afford the USA ones And you never know someone might have a set sitting around at the back of a shed beside an unfinished project ...heres hoping :D thanks for the continued help
  20. G'day all I am trying to find then acquire IMSA wide body front and rear guards . Does anybody know if there is a supplier in Aust. or by any remote chance have a set lying around that they want to sell. These are the 7" rear and 5" front guards . The rears being fireglass attached on original panel, whereas the front replace the existing guard. There is a manufacturer in the USA , but frieght might be a problem ...smashing in transit etc Or has anyone adapted similar guards.
  21. Just a thought Another way to fill in that guard space is to go with higher profile tyres It will probably soften the ride a fraction My 225x60x15 [on the 260 2+2 ] are very close in diameter to the 245x45x17 that I am going to run on the 240
  22. At the time of 10.9 for the 1/4, should the 198 be kph not mph as robbie wards 8.71 sec is 259 kph which equates to roughly 159 mph Hopefully my maths is correct Anything under 12 sec is impressive, so under 11 sec is terrific
  23. I must be the same mixture of nationalities as you, I'm ANGRY all the time as well. Thats funny the angry face has a mono brow...lol
  24. How ya going Mick , as you can see I haven't finished the ls1 install yet but getting close. We only upgraded motor with slightly better cam and changed the alternator pulley so it wouldn't rev as hard when racing .I was told they don't last [ alt. ] at higher revs . The biggest trouble we've had was the s13 rear end conversion ,that was supposed to be fully engineered , was incorrectly positioned.Hence coilovers hit on the upper rear camber arm, I have purchased after market one- sided [ shaped like a C] ones, they will be fitted this week. Hopefully this will eliminate any fouling. Mick it might be helpful to pass on the information you sent me to red76z. It gets you thinking and looking out for those build problems.....steve
  25. Neighbours just been there, they had a brilliant time hope u do .... could you deliver a boogie board for us LOL
