Empty house Simon , where do u reside again...lol Pity u r not attending The 240 is getting a exhaust upgrade / downgrade to comply with sandown residential noise levels and have gone back to semi slicks, which will be an interesting experience. Placed 4 degrees of castor on the front end using the arizona z lower control arms and castor arm upgrade, this doubles the degrees of castor that we originally dialled in.Can't go any further as the tyres will hit the guards.I had to cut 30mm off the front left guard to get the 4 degrees as it was. Catch u all there, Steve and Deb

Anyone else participating in the MSCA event at Sandown on Sunday the 4 th of March ? What motels are close to the race track that u can recommend.i.e safe for race car/ trailer etc and quiet if possible
-
Your correct Simon , the MSCA rule regulators informed me last night, that because I am in the modern marque section then the rear wing is OK. OLD farmer hey , atleast I get out of second when racing unlike some youngsters....take that youngun, and don't pronounce that young gun

Thanks everyone for helping me out . Peter Mac has kindly offered the areo kit off his car ,so a friday test and tune day at Winton is on the cards , thanks Pete. We will keep all those interested informed of the results . PZG302 great point about the different regulations regarding events like MSCA and sprints, as they are the two series that I am trying to participate in this year. Sounds like I will have to invest in a fiberglass hatch /rear spoiler combo for sprints and keep the rear as it is now for the MSCA event. Will a front diffuser help handling without a rear spoiler like the one shown by Peter Mac ? I should post some pics of my cars areo [ or lack of ] if I can bribe someone to do the computer work....Lurch and Simon don't say a word, I'm old

G'day Pete, very interesting about being uncontrollable around corners, I thought my driving abillity was to blame, especially around Wintons big sweeper. If we could have a yarn about this on the phone would be great , text me your number ...... to.... 0427641273 and I will ring you if that is convienient. As a point of interest I came home second in the super TT lites behind Terry Wyhoon, pity I lead such a sheltered life as I hadn't heard of him till I googled him and his capri, which was being tested before the 12hr bathurst event. Then on the other hand I bet he hadn't heard of me....lol

After racing the 240 last Sunday I have come to the conclusion that I need extra down force on the rear wheels. I base my theory on slower lap times as the day goes on. With a full tank of fuel, theoretically my times at the start of the day should be slower compared to the last session when carrying less weight. Previously I thought that the increasing track temp. and hotter air temp. had been the factors. Sunday was very uniform in outside temp. with cloud cover allday.Tremendous racing conditions. Hopefully you other Z RACERS can point me in the right direction of rear wing design , cost and positioning...thanks Steve

I forgot to mention that with this much Hp u probably won't use 6th ,even at Phillip Island.Perhaps a run on the Auto bahn in Europe ...lol Winton raceway is definately to short I only just get into 5th
-
I like your thinking ' more HP ' , one set of items that u will need for sure are atleast 14 inch width 4 stud rear rims and tyres , when u find some , contact me so I can get some ..goodluck with this build Make sure u do a expenses running account so we can see how much this beast will cost . Remember to budget for strengthening of chassis etc etc ...I wish I had your funds to do this I run a T56 behind my LS1 no probs. so far, but my engine only develops 335 rear wheel hp One thing I have found .That ,when racing, the T56 can't handle fast gear changes .It will lock u out of gears, so a go steady approach is needed

Checked the results more thoroughly this morn. Very pleased with my result considering the two place getters infront of me were both driving open wheelers . Discovered it was Ash in second place in the Dungey Lancia. Great to edge out the GT3 porkers and the Bmws...go dattos
-
Sorry to correct U but my time was 1 min 36.6 sec in the V8 Datto First in group M went to a 1000cc 400kg open wheeler and it flew around corners What was Ash driving? I never caught up with him to say Hi.It was bloody hot up at Winton ,car ran upto 120deg. cel. and the driver about 150deg.lol Still had a very enjoyable time with Simon and his family tho, We had the only Zeds which was a pity.
-
Well if that's the case ,Dad V Son , I will let your dad use my 260 2+2 bus. It's still setup with racing suspension and semi slicks, it used to do a respectable 1min 45.5 sec , would that be quick enough to edge u into second place Simon. Dad's are number one. If you come last in your class it will match my position in class R1, I'm up against Porkers and Beamers.Pretty sure I will be admiring an assortment of passing tail lights. Might have to buy some L plates to stickon my rear window.Or a 'be careful when passing --Old man onboard ' bumper sticker

So does mine MickieB , very patient and understanding lass.It sure helps that she enjoys the cars , racing etc but didn't want to ruin an amusing story with to many facts ,as Maxie Walker once stated.

Dave has just got back to me to confirm my order, hopefully pay him tomorrow and should have the items sent within a week. Good luck with your orders, sorry I couldn't wait any longer.

Amateurs U LOT. I built a 4 car shed by saying it was the long awaited work shop, after completion filled it with cars and then told [ OK suggested ] to the wife that I had decided to build a specialised work shop WITH A HOIST. All this time she nagged on about not having a dish washer, I told her they were WAY to dear. Again protests about the money I was going to spend on another shed . Being the kind considerate bloke that I am I gave in to her and let her have the $26,000 dish washer. SHED $22000 WATER TANK $3000 PLUMBING $500 DISH WASHER $500 MORE COMPLAINTS As I told her if it wasn't for her wanting a dishwasher, we wouldn't be needing water collection , as we live in one of the most arid countries in the world , a shed roof for water harvesting is a must. End result One happy wife with a dishwasher and me with a specialist work shop...LOL

John , emailed Dave last night and he replied within 20hrs so it might be the time to try him again . I have just ordered my lower control arms from him but there is a 3-4 week wait on the knuckles , if you can get a package deal going I might still be in the need for them. yours Steve

Entered this avo and am looking forward to catching up with Simons family. I'm hoping to cut/shape and attach the IMSA front air dam to the Z before 29th, see ya all there...Steve
-
Has anyone surplus to their needs , Arizona Z billet aluminum front lower control arms with adjustable control arms and arizona z steering knuckles in new or used [good] condition. Need them for a 240Z , thanks Steve
-
Why not give the car to Rev and let him and others finish Kyles project. Then perhaps the REV could auction/sell it of and the proceeds go to his charity....just a thought of course kyles family would/should be involved in any decisions...just a thought
-
what are we upto with the bulk purchase,if it doesn't happen soon I will go it alone
-
I'd rather have it as a house with those views, of course one room would bed down the Z

Hi to all the organisers of the Tassie trip, was there a meeting last weekend and if so what probable dates were arranged.Good luck with the itinerary give us a call if we can be of some help , yours Deb and Steve...raring to go:]

And there endeth this thread ........lol

Totally agree about the splitter being to high . I've just imported the IMSA splitter that goes with the wide body guards and they are aprox. 50mm wider, the only catch being that they are designed to incorporate the Gnose so extend way to far forwards ,so I will have to cut and join somehow. Going the Gnose path was easier but more costly, saying that tho, I wanted to retain the original open front look which complicates things but looks better to me.Each to his own I suppose. Height wise . He might need the extra height to enable the V6 to fit without cutting the sump or running a dry sump setup. When we fitted the LS1 we had to cut the sump by approx. 30mm and it's still the lowest part of the car.
-
Incredible !!! My 240 has a s13 rear end conversion with the rota 9.5x17's allround , using the Imsa widebody flared guards, coilover suspension with the willwood brake upgrade with wheel spacers . The similarities are unbelievable Except for the paint jobs, I really like theirs
-
Front lower control arms and knuckles...thanks Time wise, the sooner the better
