I didn't want to brag, but I also won a trophy at the Nationals Fastest in the over 4 ltre class I must say the other competitors [in my class ] were pretty bloody hopeless steerers and I can modestly say that I crapped all over them. Not one decent driver amonst them. Ah, did I mention I was the only one in my class Oh well my trophy still proudly sits on the mantel piece, admired by those that aren't in the know Still a nice reminder of a fun day and great company tho

Speaking of chargers I reckon the American 1968 to 1970 coke bottle shape Charger is hard to go past and they sound brilliant Did anyone see the front cover of the Full Circuit mag. March 2011 edition , it shows the Nissan ESFLOW concept. Forget that it's electric and think how cool it would look as the next Z model with a high performance petrol power plant I personally think it would outsell the 350z and 370z, to me the ESFLOWs shape is more in line with the original 240 Z...luv it

Jim, your credentials are pretty sus when you hangout with a certain ex ben. lad[ 300zx] My plan was to attend this meeting until the Arizona z brake upgrade hit a snag. Hopefully next year Avagoodweeekend all,

Boy you sure haven't many friends if three [3] is everyone in your life , sorry I took the time to respond But looking on the bright side I've just come back from driving a 351 XY GT with a worked motor and 4 speed toploader so your crap pales into insignifficance

Are you talking handling or ride comfort As I race with 17" for handling and to get rim width, I also don't rate ride comfort infront of handling 17" should give you a bigger foot print on the tarmac compared to a 16" or smaller Just one thing you should investigate, is the availability of 17" road tyres compared to other sizes to fit your rims

Hi Tim ,don't need the sleeves, you will need these for the coilover sets anyway I suppose . My number is 0357641273 or send us yours and we can arrange everthing. Hows the 5.7ltr going , aren't they a blast to drive...Steve

How long is a piece of string ? [always wanted to use that saying ] Don't want to sound flippant , but need info about your car ,what type of racing and is it being used to drive to the track or is it only a track car Also how serious do you intend to go racing and have you unlimited funds available... if you have....I need a set of slicks LOL What HP , guard width restrictions regarding rim size Seeing as there are so many variables ,by using the forum you might be able to matchup your cars use and specifications with some other racing member, so list the requirements and I'm sure we can give you an idea My cars specifications are probably a fairbit outside the norm and is still in developement [ aren't they always, it's never ending ], so my budget and needs are probably different to yours , but lets see the facts and try and help
-
G'day Tim, thanks for replying , how much do you want for them and could you freight them down to us. I can replace the sleeves if they aren't compatible, thats if there is 33mm left of the old struts or I suppose weld to fit. Hear from you ....Steve
-
Wanted ASAP, left and right front struts 51 mm for a 240 z When doing the Arizona Z brake upgrade it was discovered that the previous owner , when doing his brake conversion , oxyied the caliper thread holes bigger. Thus destroying the threads , by doing this he also made the metal harder, needless to say this stuffs up tapping another thread AND thats why I desperately need the TWO front struts. Hopefully someone can help

I should of made mention of the S13 rear end again , hopefully this will make the choices cheaper and easier to fit

Am seriously considering going down the LS3 path. By the time you invest money into the LS1 you only end up with the equivalent HP of a tuned and mild cammed LS3 crate motor. The LS3 will give you further HP options up your sleeve for later insane engine developement....hmmmmm...probably won't need it..... then again Do you reckon I need much in the rear brake department, my engine builder thinks not, but his speciality is road racing super bikes...although the weight to power could be similar lol What do youse guys think

My Arizona brake and suspension upgrade has arrived. Shipped in five parcels and have avoided customs tax. I am yet to unpack as my workshop was being used as the kids furniture storage area. Cleaned it out yesterday so will have a crack at the installation later in the week . I am exploring the cost and ways to get more HP out of the LS1, there are plenty of options , as my engine builder tells me , he also added that he wouldn't touch the engine until I improve the stopping ability of the car. So step number one is definately the brakes . Then a camber / castor / wheel alignment and then perhaps a test track day. Much anticipated excitement

Happy birthday Lochy, Deb and I have decided to give you a 'FARM STAY " holiday present anytime from today onwards. The holiday will include a cooked breakfast and one nights accomodation for two, after Janes wishes I'm thinking you might take someone else with you...lol

Just confirmed my order with Arizona z owner Dave Epstein. $2410 usa$ total cost for shipping 4 parcels $310 parcels contain; front brake kit $1300 front coilovers $800 He's very easy to deal with , his contact number is 001114808449677 , best to ring at 9 to 10am Aussie eastern time for quick results The banks sure know how to rip you off when transferring money to the USA I used Netbank , IT would probably save you money going to your local branch and get a better exchange rate Hope this helps someone
-
With that comentary, Lurch, you should take up race calling I.E. ferret race calling Perhaps not The action would probably be to fast for ya....lol
-
You are paying by weight so if the supplier sends , say in three parcels, then you can avoid the customs duty etc I would think So if my setup costs $2100 then by splitting it up should avoid the charges.... I HOPE
-
If your going to buy the ari. z stuff we might be able to get cheaper frieght by combining the two parcels . I was quoted $400 air freight, they might charge by the kilo tho It will be interesting to see what he recommends for your car

I did the hilux upgrade i.e. 4 spot calipers with s13 rotors and 1inch master cyl. The only other upgrade since running that setup on the 260 2+2 is installing blue hawk race pads. Without having compared the Lucas [ i think ] with the blue hawks , I can't comment on the better braking efficiency using the blue hawks. It was interesting today tho, when talking to the arizona Z person [ David ] , he suggested that his brake pads were the best to use.I will have to wait for his email reply to inform people of the brand .I will ask for price as well , as with the Aus. dollar being so high they could be a great alternative.

As some of you will know I've retired the 260z 2+2 from racing and bought a 240 and installed a LS1 I thought that an update about cornering might be appreciated With the new car there are some anomilies that are different to a normal 240z's suspension. Firstly the rear end is from a S13 so is fully adjustable and has S13 coilovers installed. The front end , well being a cheap skate, was transferred from the 260z 2+2. This in hindsight was being optimistic and led to problems with guard clearance. 50 mm to low . With time running out before going to the Nats I asked a well informed GURU for divine inspiration GURU LURCH suggested raising the spring seat by 50mm and this solved the problem ....thanks GURU L What has been achieved so far I think is fantastic, she definately turns in better and for a new build car handles remarkably well , especially with 335 hp at the rear wheels. The rear end recieved 1mm toe in per side and at this stage no camber. The front end recieved 1mm toe out per side and 4 degrees of camber and also 2 degrees of castor Hopefully this will help setting up someones car , so we can lock horns on the track someday.......a little farming / car punn there p.s. the old 260 did a respectable 1min 45.5 at Winton , the new 240 z does 1 min 38.7sec so far. Needless to say I am investigating the Arizona z braking upgrade . I must be braking very early as my wife even suggested the brake upgrade. How cool is that !!!!

I wrote more about the preparation of the 240 before going to the Z nats in Goulburn in the Aust wide events section under 2011 z nationals lurch was going to shift that stuff onto my build site WEREN"T you Lochie the bedfarter , thats according to Jane Couldn't help myself...lol
-
It was registered with a 350 chev before I bought it,but I'm sure the RTA wouldn't pass the extra wide stance . Between outside tyre walls on rear measure 196cm, also running spacers allround would make it illegal It would be fantastic fun though, until I started it and was put off the road for extreme noise and extreme smiling

You don't need to join to look at the site, try punching in NDSOC +facebook...it should come up

The officials don't divulge names or car types Interestingly , after checking out the lap times on NATSOFT, the gap between myself and second in H2 was an average of 3.7sec a lap and between him and third was 3 sec approx. After being shifted the gap between the mazda and I per lap was 10.1sec , hell that thing was quick. It set a new lap record, beating Kev Mackrell in the yellow and purple 4x4 260 2+2 dattos time It's funny but I have always found that car people are great , but was warned that racing people are good until you get to close to their times. Perhaps the fun times are eroding away and it's time to bring out the EVIL steve...nah, stuff it, I'm to old for that rubbish. Not to mention not skilled enough to carry out the EVIL threats of dominating a race class NB; EVIL, is said in the Austin powers way with psycho laughter following.

After 2 yrs of no racing frustration , while building up next car, have raced twice in 7 days . The 240z with 5.7 ltr / six speed /wide body flares achieved what I think are respectable times firstup At wakefield 1.11.48 Winton long track 1.38.72 Interesting day at Winton ,after 3 sprints in the H2 class the officials informed me that they had had 5 competitors complain that I should be in the next classup i.e. super TT lites So with only one race to go they shifted me. The reason being for the interest in motor sport. ?? It is interesting to note that when in the H2 class I led by 10 sec after shifting to the STT lites class I was beaten into 2nd place by a full on Mazda race car with space frame etc ....BY 20 sec Obviously my "interest in motor sport" is less than the other whinging 5 competitors in the H2 class...lol

DAZDA , if your number plates read YFY E40 go to the NDSOC facebook site , it's a bit hard to read your race number but I think thats your Z...67 pics of alsorts I was one of the luckier ones who recieved extra track time, my electric lap timer malfunctioned, so they gave me a rerun. I'm positive my first run was easily my fastest, he says with tongue firmly planted in cheek..lol
