I still haven't heard back from the owner (Richard) yet. He may be having second thoughts. Sorry for the delay for all those who have registered interest.
I would look in the collector area. Is there anyway you can fabricate of have something fabricated like a 6 into 1 collector. I know the V8's that have the 4 into 1 collector have more rasp than the 4-2-1 type.
Gawd I'm using my 302 V8 Powered 260Z as a daily at the moment. Bear in mind that I built it from the ground up, it hardly ever has a problem. It doesn't squeak or rattle and gets terrible mileage but soooo much fun. Way worth the price of admission. A 12K one should be very sound!
Thanks Gav. Yep new floorpans, extended rails, doglegs all sorted and so on. Shell owes him 9 Grand. Was going to be a race car project hence the engine bay color. He also has a 2+2 for sale which has won hillclimbs in it's class all over the state.

Just a quick mention, it is possible to fit the heater box without removing the dash even with air conditioning. I fitted one to my Green Zed last year but still haven't got it gassed
