  1. Thanks John. Is there any other brand that you recommended? Leaning towards quality over cost. The colour I want to do is soul red 41v if anyone has had experience spraying it.
  2. Hello. Im at the stage where I am nearly ready to repaint my 240z shell. The body work is completed and hi filled so ready for top coats. The colour im planning to paint the car which is a 3 stage, aparently works well with the Dupont 2k system. Last respray I used Dupont and it worked well so was planning to use it again. My question is do they still exist? There web site dupontpc.com.au isn't up and can't seem to find a supplier in Sydney. Thanks in advance.
  3. I have the Stewart Wilkins setup as well. Mine is a dr30 turbo r200 diff and cvs with his custom shafts and billet adapters, on 260z stub axles. Survived behind a 20b turbo with no problems.
  4. Thanks everyone. Think i will just take them back to bare metal and use the kbs like i have done for the door skins and quaters etc.
  5. Ok thanks, I was thinking there would be some special paint for under the guard because of chips etc. Planning on painting the outside of the car in HOK 2k so do you think I should just continue with it everywhere? Or is the ppg better for wheel arches etc?
  6. Hello. I am nearing the end of preparing my car for paint and wanted to get people's advice on paint for under the guards. I have used KBS coating on the inside of all the bare metal panels following the prep directions and am very happy so far with the result. My issue is that the guards are coated in the factory black etch primer that you normal just use a scuff pad before paint, but I'm not sure if the KBS coating will stick. The primer is in perfect condition and it seems like a step backwards to remove it. Does anyone know what is used on the under side when replacement panels are fitted to modern cars? Any suggestions would be great.
  7. Hello. I converted my heater box setup to r32 climate control a few years ago. At the time the digital control unit was installed in place of the manual controls. Works we'll looks crap. I'm now rebuilding the car and want the interior to look more original and the 1990's display needs to go. Anyone have the sliding controls and cables for the heater box. I bought a replacement plastic front face but need the sliding mechanism and cables as well as the fan switch. Also I know I'm dreaming but would anyone have a working fm tape player that would fit in the original hole? Any help would be great.
  8. Changed the add , sorry the wording was a bit confusing. I dont have any fender mirrors just a guard with the holes punched in it for them. Thought it would be useful since there has been a lot of discusion about correct placement. It has been hit so would take a lot of work to make it useable. This panel is free so if you want it come get. Also dont have a brake booster. Found inspection lids and a grill. With shipping if the part is really needed i can send it in a few weeks once things are back to normal.
  9. Sorry don't have any spare tail shafts. Gav the panel is the later type. Pm me your number if you want some photo's. Will give you a discount for liking rotary's With shipping at the moment I really don't have time. My life for the last month is go to work then pickup tools and renovate to 10 pm. Then up at 5.30 to start again. The shipping would not be cheap either. I sent a hatch to Brisbane a few month ago via pack and send without glass it was over $80.
  10. Also tear drop mirrors think off xy falcon excellent condition $50 If your after something ask have other bits waste gates fuel pumps etc.
  11. Hello. Renovating my house and need to clear some parts. Sorry have no spare time to ship parts at the moment. Parts that i have dug out so far are. 240 z left and right front guards with nose cones welded on no lights. 240z hatch no glass push button welded over has electric strike. 240z windscreen wiper motor cover panel 240z left guard with holes for fender mirror looks original?? Been hit below crease at rear fairly badly shame as was a very clean panel. 240z left quarter panel bent at same time as above guard. The front corner from crease down is missing but the rest is all usable.NO MIRROR. Rx8 black leather interior front and back seats with door trims electric drivers seat. Not a zed part but taking up space. After about $100 for most panels they are all from my blue car in my pictures. Starting to blister so would need to be striped. The quarter panel think i payed $80 for. Bent guard free to anyone who is installing fender mirrors. And the Rx8 stuff $450. All parts at Acacia gardens NSW. Best to call or message me on zero four three four three one four eight three seven.
  12. I tried To get in contact with Tabco for new sills around a year ago and had no luck. Every email I sent was never answered not sure if things have changed now. Also tried a second USA z specialist and they were out of stock and looking for a new supplier for repair sections. Ended up getting a set from All z part. One of them had a Tabco sticker so they are probably one of the only suppliers for sills. The fit for the drivers side was perfect unmodified but the passenger side took about half an hour of work to fit. It just needed a cut at each crimped end section so it could be bent in about 10mm. This was to bring the distance top to bottom back to original. Then just welded cut back up. To get in contact with All Z part you are better off emailing or trying Warrens mobile. It has taken me a few random tries over a couple of days to get through before but he still has most things available. He is not at the shop that often but usually you can get in contact and he will meet you there. I don't think the ones at rare spares and on ebay would be much use as there is no ends. The ends are what make the strength and they are also the part that rust away. Really they would probably be more useful if they sold the ends instead of the middle. Another problem you may have from over seas is the shipping cost as the fairly long. Hope this helps. Best of luck getting in contact with Tabco or Warren.
  13. Hello. My 240z has sectioned strut, coil overs and Tokico Illumina 5 way shocks all round. I am looking for something to replace the front pair as the left has decided to loose its oil and become a bike pump. Unfortunately Tokico's don't seem to be available any more so I'm after options of what else they can be replaced by. Any ideas for a pair that will have the following. 1 Will fit inside my now 2inch (I think) shorter front struts. 2 Be of the same or better performance 3 Suit my rear shocks as I would prefer to keep the illuminas there as they have only done about 3000km I'm guessing some one else out there has ended up in the same position. Any help would be great.
  14. Yeah number was wrong. Thanks for that! I think i need more sleep.
  15. Hatch is the later style without the vent's. Have a bonnet with the common light hit in the middle which has bent down a bit with hard to fix dent. Probably not too much use. No spare door's The add was a rush job no thought went in to the title.

  17. Be carefull using car covers long term. I had my car under one in a lock up garage because I lived near the coast. The cover didn't get wet at all but the back of the garage was open so there was still moister around. The cars paint is 2 PAC Du pont and about 4 years old. Around a year ago little bumps in the paint formed like little sweat pimples. This only happened where the cover makes constant contact, edges of roof, high edge of quarters, doors and guards etc. But in the areas that breathed there is no problems. The thing that makes me think it was the cover is that left and right match. I have also now met other people that have had the same problem's with car cover's. My cover was a white felt kind of material with a fairly water proof out side dont know the brand cost $300 from auto barn. The car is now in process of being repainted. I would try to use the cover only when there weather is really rainy and have the car out in open for the rest of the time. A bit of light rain or sun is much better than the car sweating up under a cover. My wife's car has been outside for 5 years and the paint is perfect. Whereas the zed has been hogging the garage with the cover and its paint is ruined.
  18. You could try AES mufflers in woolongong. He can make them up to your drawings and is very easy to deal with. A lot of rotories use them so you know they are high flow and can handle punishment. My 20b car went from 115 db at 5000rpm (ear plugs and still unplesant) to a nice tuff note just by swaping the rear muffler. Only thing is im not sure about stainless but worth checking them out. Look on ausrotary to see feed back on his mufflers
  19. Thanks for all the replies. I have already contacted msa and they said at least 3 months wait. Not sure about that though since they didn't have stock in November and they said three months then as well. Would love to do the tafe course but being on the other side of Sydney don't think it would be possible with work. Starting to think I might be able to save the panel I have. Today I stripping back the couple of tins worth of bog that the panel bogger put in. The panel is the wrong shape but hopefully I can hit it back. Its funny how putting the original tail lights back in has snow balled. Started as a shouldn't be too hard a job, and has now become more of a full respray. Ledge thanks for the offer, will see how things turn out. If I cant save it I will let you know.
  20. Hello. Any body know of a place where I can source the lower rear section of the quarter panel? It starts from the bumper down then around the back to meet the beaver. Any ideas would be great. Cheers Matt
  21. PM sent Thanks
  22. Hello. Thankyou for your help. I will call tommorrow to work out when is good to come out. Cheers Matt
  23. Hey everyone. I am trying to repair the rear beaver panel in my car from the slam panel down to re install original tail lights and the rear bumper. The problem is that at some stage in the cars life the rear end was swap ed out for a 260z setup and the lower section was replaced with some sheet metal. My hunt for a replacement beaver panel over the last two years has come up with nothing, so I have decided to make up panels. The problem now is that I dint have anything to go off to set up everthing in the standard position. So anyone in Sydney area, who would be happy to spare an hour or two, so I can take measurements and make paper templates off your 240z? Hoping for one that is being restored as the tail lights would have to be out. Happy to bring beer for anyone that can help.
  24. Thanks will give them a try. Hopefully not to long and I can finally start converting the back of my car back to stock.
  25. Hey everyone, after a 240z number plate light if anyone has one spare they would like to sell let me know.
