I would recommend it but I have always loved rotaries. There hasn't been any real hassles at all, no worse than any other engine swap. Just passed Rego for the third time without a problem. It uses a bit more fuel but it isn't to bad considering the power it has. My last trip from Coffs Harbour to Newcastle used a little over a tank and that is with two people and the back filled to the roof with luggage. My engine starts easily, does not over heat and is very responsive. Also it has an exhaust note like no other engine. I have owned 4 rotary cars over the last 15 years and if you look after them they are fine. The parts for the swap are around half again on top of a RB25det swap and if you cant do a lot of the work yourself it is going to be very expensive.

The blue 20b 240z is my car LOL. Tweakit did the base tuning to get it drivable for rego but they didn't build it. The car in the add is Justin from Tweakit's car, saw it a couple of years ago when they tuned my car. The car looked fairly solid, but only had a quick look. Not sure about it using the factory twin turbo's. When I mocked up my engine they didn't clear the rails by about 50mm. They are a tight fit in a RX7 and there rails are around 100mm wider appart.

I'm also interested in where you get the panel that the tail lights bolt onto. For a year or so I have been looking for a damaged unrepairable shell to cut the parts from but have had no luck. New would be great but have only seen the top and bottom parts. How did you go with allzpart?

Hello. Just have a question about the fuel tank out of a 240z. Is the return line on the left or the right when looking at the tank from the front of the car? Thanks
-
Hey everyone. I'm after the right hand tail light cover and number plate light. Also the chrome strips off the tail light lenses. Cheers

Swapping my setup wouldn't really be worth it for you work wise, its welded in and probably wont be in to good a shape by the time its cut out. Also not sure when I will take the very big step of cutting into perfectly good paint. Just trying to get all the bits together now so i have them ready and can start restoring them. Thanks for the offer tho. With people on EBay starting to ask the same amount for a single NOS tail light that I paid for my whole car. I don't want to wait till I'm respraying the car and have to sell a kidney to buy some in a few years. Thanks for the tip off patch will bid and see how I go.

Hey everyone. Trying to scrap up all the bits to change my tail lights back to stock. So looking for tails lights, number plate light and covers in fairly good condition. Also need to replace the the metal panel in the rear of the car that everything bolts to. Wouldn t want cut up a zed that is restorable so after a rusty or damaged car that could be used for a rear cut. Or even better if some one has a replacement panel lying round. Please let me know if you have any of the parts and want to sell them

I'm looking to change out my 4.1 for a 4.8 and I know the odds are low but thought i would check if anyone wants to do the reverse. Also If anyone has a 4.8 they want to sell please let me know. So far I have only found new ones that are fairly pricey.

Wally, I know its too late now but I thought I could give people more info about the mx5 conversion since I did one in my car a few years ago. The rack mounts do have to be modified to a more square shape to fit the rack. The drivers side engine mount pedestal has to have a bit of a notch cut out to clear the steering shaft. The inner tie rods need to be shortened and re threaded by from memory 80mm a side(been a while might not be 80mm). Also flat areas need to be re machined to allow a spanner to be used again. The shortening only cost me $100 at an engineering shop. N14 Pulsar tie rods are then fitted on the ends. The rest, steering shaft, pump, lines etc I guess would be the same with any conversion. I have used both a Rb25 and Cosmo pump and there is no noticeable difference. Also I don't remember the rack being off center, if it was I think I would have started again with a different rack. Driving the car the turning circle is great better than most cars. The steering is light when driving slow but could be a little heavier at freeway speeds. At first I found it a little twitchy at speed but don't notice it anymore. I have heard of some cars that have a switch that gives less assistance once you pasted car park speeds which could be good but haven't looked anymore into it. Also from my experience every engineers has a different interpretation of the rules and what one says cant be done is not a problem with another. Over the years I have been told ,no a RB25DET is too powerful for a 240z by one engineer then next engineer on the list asks why just a RB25? If your going to all the effort, why don't you put something bigger in? Don't get me wrong you still have to meet all the rules, power to weight etc but there is room to move.

Thanks, I will give him a call. Anyone else??

Planning on getting one shipped to Coffs Harbour for myself. Anyone keen for the second one if i get two? Same kind of deal as above.

Hey everyone. I have a R200 Longnose LSD with a 4.1 Ratio fitted to my car and im looking for something a bit higher. If anyone has a pinon and gear set or complete open r200 in excellent condtion let me know what you want for them. Im looking for something around the 4.4 to 4.8ish range.

I bought lots of parts off these guys, there in QLD but they send the parts very quickly. They have injector and common sensor plugs as well. http://www.bellanco.com.au/index.php/connectors/specialty-connectors/35.html

I have a 260 loom in my car. The original loom was hacked and melted. Im guessing my headlight switch and old corroded plugs are causing the volt drop.
-
Started upgrading my loom, will hopefully be installed by the weekend to test the difference before I go HID. I have 90/100 H4 s already but there really dull. Before I pulled the loom I tested the voltage at the head light and with a battery voltage of 14v I only got 9v. Looking forward to finding out the results.

I asked Zstore about using there kits on a rhd car and they said it didnt matter the kit suits both side. So if there is two kits they must just sell the kits for lhd.
-
They sound good. Think I will give the relays a go this weekend and see how bigger difference they make. Can only help if I still upgrade to HID's. I'm fairly sure that the stock set up to the headlight is a constant +v and switched -v from head light switch for low/high. So the load of the light's will still go through the switch with out relays.
-
Upgrading the head light loom is probably a very good start Mossy. Its a shame my wiring is a mix of 260z and r32 so I will probably have to make up my own. Garvice did you get yours from Ben on Hybridz I think he my sell them to zstore? Does the kit replace much of the stock wiring or do they plug into the old head light plugs?

After driving my zed in the rain last night I really noticed how much I need new head lights. I have been looking at the new HID classic set up that thezstore sells (http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/EA29/33-2069). Just wanted to know if anyone has them in there car and if so what they are like. There is a few photos of them shinning on garage doors around but interested if anyone has used them out on the road.

I think it would be possible to run a wire from each coil +v through a diode then all meeting together to the tacho input. Diodes work kind of like a one way valve for electricity and only cost a few cents from jaycar etc. This way the coil that fires signal will get to the tacho and the diodes on each of other five wires blocks the signal from traveling back to the rest of the coils.

If there the same quality as the RX3 front gaurds from that supplier they are a terrible fit.
