  1. Guys Entry forms are available for the NDN09 event PM me if you need a copy of the entry form and Registration info. cheers Alan
  2. Guys The COTW Display has been confirmed for Sunday 23 November at Morning Star Estate, Mornington. Nissan will be a feature manufacturer with the feature marques being Roadster, Zeds and GTRs, we hope to have examples of every type and model (including the R35). The other feature manufacturer is Holden (60th birthday) so it will be a massive event. Entry forms are available, $25 for Show n Shine, $30 for Concours d' elegance (proceeds to Retina Australia), Entries received prior to Oct 3rd receive a glossy event program free. The NDSOC are reserving 40 spaces for a club display, due to the expected huge response entries may not be accepted on the day into the main display area......so get your entry in early. For those interested please PM me and I will email you the entry form. cheers Alan 3893_.pdf
  3. Guys The 2008 event has been confirmed for Sunday Nov 23rd and Nissan Sports cars are the feature marque with emphasis on the Roadster, Zeds and GTR Skylines (we should have an R35 on display from Nissan) An entry form will be available shortly. cheers Alan
  4. Mike the "running on" when you turn the engine off could be due to a number of things (over compressed engine or poor ignition timing)......get the carbs and ignition tuned properly preferrably on a dyno by someone who knows what they are doing......once tuned Hitachi SUs (240 carbs) are a beautiful thing and use 98 RON fuel. SU carbs need choke to start and warm up........once up to temp within 10 mins of driving the car should run choke free.....once the mixture has been tuned correctly the car should be easy to drive and idle faultlessly.
  5. Pigeonman.....As it has been said before.....there is nosuch thing as a "cheap fast Zed"....what is your budget ??..........if you are starting from scratch with reasonably intact 240z that still needs paint/bodywork/rust repairs......mechanicals such as engine and gearbox rebuild.. brakes, suspension etc etc..........then expect to spend plenty!! To do the work properly expect to spend:- 10K on body work is not unusual 4K on a strong engine build 1K for gearbox and driveline 1k for brakes and suspension . Or buy a Zed ready to go for mid teens ($15k +) .....where some one else has spent the big $$$ cheers Alan

    CRUZ?

Sulio you can drive to/attend any of the MSCA events (Hidden valley hill climb etc) on CH plates as these are advertised in the NDSOC monthly magazine. or there is CH "Test and Tune" day on 6/7 of Sept Or plan a run on the 20/21 of Sept to P.I for the Sprint meeting (maybe even enter the event ) Also Marque Sports GT rally is on this weekend up to Echuca......... cheers Alan
  7. Any windscreen company should be able to source/supply and fit a new laminated screen for around $250 I got a new screen thru Windscreen O'brien last year cheers Alan
  8. Rev You may also need a new synco coupling sleeve as these wear as well........you can source both coupling sleeves and syncro rings locally from LM in Moorabbin (I think you called in on him recently and he looked at your triples ??)
  9. If you are running a Supra 5 speed then you may have to source the speedo drive from another Toyota box.........
  10. There is also a Datsun parts Supplier in the US who is also chasing Zworx for money...........seems Zworx ordered $300+ of parts......... and after shipping canceled the payment. The supplier in the US contacted me (I have sourced Roadster parts from them previously) to see if I could assist. Seems that Z worx is not making many new friends Alan *edited references to individual removed*
  11. Simon yes I understand the budget issues however I have learnt numerous times over that the "cheap n cheerful" option can turn into a financial black hole trying to get things right......hence I now spare no expense (well almost no expense) when it comes to doing thing right the first time. Many a set of triple carbs picked up for <$1000 turns into $2000+ by the time the worn parts are replaced or remanufactured, the linkages are sorted, modified, etc and add dyno time for tuning. The path I am taking is to purchase a set that are "as new" (completely refurbished) whilst more $$ up front........I believe cheaper in the long term and far less angst as they will bolt on and run with very little tuning required. The carbs you have found look fine externally however it is the throttle shafts and linkages that wear and the butterflies that wear away the castings internally.......soft parts such as gaskets and diapragms also go hard or leak.....all this cannot be found until they are dismantled..........again it is the risk you take and you must consider this in the purchase price . cheers Alan
  12. Mine are on the way from the East Coast of the US for $135 USD via UPS
  13. I use the Nulon octane boost in my Roadster when and Zed when I can't get >95 RON fuel and it works a treat ........I once read an independant test on various Octane boost additives and the Nulon brew was the only one that actually performed as claimed Alan
  14. No reason why not ..........Mikunis are probably the most expensive of the triples (Webers are Dellortos can be sourced for considerably less $$ as they are more common).......however the Mikunis are arguably (IMHO) the best of the triple carb set up with better throttle response thru mid range and top end power(They are also set and forget....no constant maintenance as they do not go out of tune unlike some other types) BTW Steer well clear of the latest Spanish made Webers sold on the ebay ......stick to the Italian Webers cheers Alan
  15. Dan I purchased a set of remanufactured 44 Mikunis from Wolf Creek Racing, these are completely reconditioned to 'as new' with new throttle shafts, butterflies, linkages and all soft parts, the throttle linkage is also modified to be a straight swap for the standard 240 carbs using the original throttle yoke from the fire wall. The carbs are fitted with 34mm chokes and come with a spare set of 37's and various spare air and fuel jets (they build the carbs to roughly match your engine specs and prvide spares to fine tune) Wolf Creek also carry a large range of spares for Mikunis...............you may want to get onto Todd at Wolf Creek if you need spares. http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/ Here is a shot of my carbs ready to ship Alan
  16. G'day Daniel Firstly I have not said that Lou will fit springs and shocks for $600.....if you read my post carefully it states that I bought my springs and shocks for $600 .....not that "Lou supplied and fitted them for $600 (maybe I should have been more clear -I actualy bought them thru Advantage suspension in Moorabbin as they supply Kings and KYBs) Lou assisted with fitted them at a cost of around $150. Lou can be a little slow however I find when kept "cash flow positive" his turn around time is fast as anywhere else............and the work is done right the first time. Secondly I don't believe I have "bagged the Zed shop" only that ...whilst Lindsay was away.. it had gone way down hill on service ........now that Lindsay has returned service has returned (I picked up a 4.4 speedo drive from him last week after one phone call)...........and I'm really not sure what you are inferring in your last sentence . Alan
  17. Gents I have the sup regs for P.I sprint 20/21 Sept Saturday is a practice day with passenger sessions, Sunday is timed laps Entry fee is Sat $145/Sun $150 befor 13th Sept or $160/$165 after PM me with your email address if you would like a copy of the sup regs. cheers Alan
  18. Ash This Piarc Sprint should be a "noisy sprint" ie 96db.........I am hoping to enter the Roadster (i get pinged for noise at the 75 db days) September Island Sprint - Group 5 Round 4 20/09/2008 - 21/09/2008 Alan
  19. Ensure the "J" shaft is installed correctly into the throttle clevis (this is the connection with the spring/washer and split pin) .................and that your carpet/mat is well clear of the gas pedal.
  20. Sorry that was very cathartic My apologies to any beer swilling Ute driving neanderthals who may feel culturally, racially or demographically vilified in any way
  21. With clever marketing the Aussie Ute has now become the only Australian "sports car" available to the masses of neanderthals who's perception of a sports car is something that has two doors and a V8 under their hoof.......Both Holden and Ford shoe horn bigger and bigger V8s under the hood and add "styling aids" to hide the fact that the true purpose of a Ute (Utility vehicle) is for carrying crap around. Point of fact ....we are the only motor vehicle market in the world that insists in putting engine output (eg. 307 KW) on their cars......some form of pi$$ing contest between Holden and Ford....which appeals to the cretinous demographic who purchase these things. As for the NT ..........unfortunately you are disproportionately "blessed" with a greater number of Ute driving beer swilling neanderthals than any state in the nation.
  22. Get you dash reskinned for around $400...............as for the seats you should be able to get them retrimmed in leather for around $400 each as well...........much nicer than vinyl and more durable
  23. I'm locked and loaded, accom booked and just waiting on the entry forms. I'm taking the Zed and the Roadster (probably tow the Roadster and get a mate to drive the Zed) Alan
  24. Further to my last post on the engine build I have now sourced a set of Triple 44PPH Mikuni Solexs (replacing the set I sold with my 240 race car ) from the US.........so they should be here in a few weeks. I am aiming for approx 130 + rwkw and still be nice a tractable around town but with instant throttle response..........not to mention that glorious "mechanical symphony" In the voice of Robert Duvall ...."I love the sound triple Mikunis in the morning" Alan
  25. I lightened my flywheel by a couple of Kg and balanced the entire assembly from harmonic balancer to clutch, the lightened flywheel allows the engine to spin up quickly making it more responsive and the balancing allows for smooth revving. Lightening of the rank is unnessary unless you are building a full blown race motor I utilised the skills of Chris Wood for the lightening and Motor Improvements for the balancing work . End result was almost 50% HP gain at the wheels from a stock L26 (76 rwkw to 112 rwkw at 6200 rpm) and a very smooth tractable engine .......next job is to fit the Triple Mikunis http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2415.0.html cheers Alan
