  1. yeah i sure am... esspecialy seeing as i bought it 5 months ago!!!
  2. yeah i had ones of those nismo stickers on the verticle edge of the rear hatch when i got my car... bit tacky looking really. i took it off a few months ago... along with my rear spoiler i didn't really like. dont think ive posted any pics of how it now looks but i will on tuesday when its REGO'd!!!, but i dont wanna talk about it or ill get gynxed and i'll fail the roadworthy for some other crap reason.
  3. Looking good, that came up nice! Yeah thongs are the worste to drive in, i think i prefer bare feet over anything. Although ive never had driving shoes, just chunky globes really. That used to be illegal in Vic didn't it? barefeet that is... but apparantly they changed the rules so its now illegal to drive in thongs instead.
  4. Yeah getting a standard headunit and hooking an ipod up might just be the way to go. I am about to purchase a broken 3rd gen 20gig ipod off ebay for about 40 bucks delivered. (i worked out how to fix all those broken ones i think) and my brother has an old crappyish pioneer headunit. I was just measuring my laptop LCD and its 28.5cm x 21cm... i could kinda make it fit but i dont wanna go ripping out the centre of my dash. But if i did make it fit the i could get a joysticky/scrolly mouse thing to control it. I would love having the GPS hooked up through the computer instead of my phone though. don't have any software yet to put it through the computer, at the moment i am using tomtom on my phone.
  5. Cheers for the reply. well yeah the laptop would be fine for running mp3's (except for the 14gig HDD) but it wouldn't run my TV card or play movies that smoothly i dont think. And im not sure how much oomph i will need to run the GPS software. if its a 256meg thing of ram then i think id happily pay 30 bucks for it. I need PC100 if that helps. According to a mate you can network via bluetooth to a PC connected to a LAN and then the bluetoothed computer becomes part of the LAN. I don't know heaps about networking or computers but apparantly works... As for hibernating with the ignition etc, i have a sweet idea. theres a button that when pressed by the screen as it is shutting puts the computer to sleep, so i wanna take that button and make it into a hidden switch on my dash which does 3 things: turns the computer on, turns the 'remote' wire on the amp on, and acts as an immoboliser to turn the dash on. I saw an 8" touch scren go on ebay for 150 including shipping, which is about 100 less then any of the others, didn't have very good resolution, but meh. (dont think it was a lilliput) in terms of is it worth doing for the cost, i have the laptop, id need 150 for a touch screen, maybe 30 for ram, a bit for power for the laptop, and not too much else. or mount my 13.3" (i think) computer screen and have a little joystick or something set up... i have some very nerdy friends who would be able to help me with that bit. And yeah a Cd rom drive up front would be good ey, i rekon a transplant out of my laptop would be a bit hard though. or may be do-able. Do you know much about those things you put over normal LCD screens to make them touch screen?? cheers.
  6. Ah Evan i was wondering if there was a post about your massive touch screen in your car. and i have now stumbled across it. After seeing yours when you were at my place ive been thinking about doing the same. I was thinking about using my old school laptop and set it up as a media centre PC and then also having my GPS bluetoothed to it as well as my digital TV card hooked up, and with the bluetooth dongle have it networked to my home PC so i could update my car with movies and mp3's whenever its within range, sitting in the driveway. My problems are though, my laptop isn't very good (900mhz celeron, 128meg ram), so i was thinking of going with a desktop, but that uses too much power and id need an expensive(?) transformer to run it off 12V. Also 10.4" touch screens are 300+ bucks on ebay so i was thinking of going with either an 8" for possibly 150 bucks or bigger one but not touch screen. Do you use the touchscreen function much? or do you normaly use the joystick (you got that hooked up yet?). Another option is to upgrade my laptop with some more ram and use the 14" screen off it and mount that in the dash... much cheaper but a 14" screen would be dam hard to fit in. I would then have all the audio hooked up to a 4 channel alpine amp i just bought on ebay, and then some JL audio splits ive got lying round, probably mounted in the rear.
  7. higher speed limit sounds good... another option would be to just have a shorter cruise on a weeknight and closer to the city area. Advantages are that more people could attend as they are often busy on a weekend, and its closer to most people. probably why wednesday nights meet had a good turn out. But a half day trip out in the hills sorta thing sounds pretty snazzy.
  8. Yeah i didn't make a show last night, i was paintin a dam fence, but i got paid... woohoo. Definately up for a cruise, Even and I, I think discussed getting one happening once my car was on the road. (rego booked for tuesday 3.10pm next week evan), im sure we could get a fair amount of ppl together.
  9. I had work done by a guy called Silv Ferluga a couple of months ago to remove some rust in the sills. charged me 180 bucks for some major cutting and welding in of new bits of panels for both sides. Thought this was quite a reasonable price. a mate got a quote from him for 300 whereas other panel beaters quoted 600. It's a little informal, you dont get receipts and you pay cash, and he works out the back of his house pretty much. But if you dont mind that and you're a poor uni student like me then id highly recommend him. His number is 9830 5212 and is in surrey hills on caterbury road. He's a top bloke though. When i went to pick up my car i forgot my wallet so he drove me round to my house then to an atm to get some cash out then back to his. and then charged me 20 bucks less then he quoted coz he thought i could use the money more then him :!:
  10. Old post but thought id add, i picked my car up today from a place called Daalder exhausts on Station street in Box hill. i had the rear end of the exhaust redone, 2 hotdogs and muffler and new piping and installation, came to $293 and they threw the piping in for free as they knew i was poor and wanted it done cheap and they orignaly told me 300 bucks anyway. Im fairly happy with it, sits up there nice and close and out of the way. THe only thing i dont love is the sound, I now have a bit of one of those constant bassy hums. But it still sound really untamed and muscle carish so i like it on a whole i think. anyway id recommend em.
  11. If its the same as a 280zx, you just undo the drainer plug at the bottom of the tranny, let it all flow out, check for metal fileings to check for tranny wear. do that plug up once it drains and then the filler plug is on the passenger side of the tranny. i had to use a plumberes wrench to get that one undone. and you fill till it's about to come out the filler hole. I think thats correct! I suggest getting your hands on a Haynes manual if you haven't got one already, very handy indeed.
  12. sid, are you saying you had the same problem as me with the highbeams being stuck on? i ended up finding the series of buttons that the stick presses to make high beam, normal beam, and parkers and then cutting a few millimetres of the one wich is needed to push for high beams, so now its harder for the sphere-shaped plate to push that button. dunno if that helps.
  13. i think i should be able to make it to the meet. not going away anymore coz i can't afford it and need to get my zed on the road. and i sold my ticket to go see Tool for that night, but only got 152 bucks for it!!! dangit. anyone else not coming cos they're off to see Tool?
  14. mostly fat, bit of muscle. i guess im off to maccas.
  15. I'm 105kg, do i win? or does that mean i lose?
  16. i just went out before to try and move the car from the driveway, into the garage and out of the rain. after a few shots i managed to reverse it backwards continuosly stalling and then roll into the garage. then put one foot on the clutch and one on the break and it kep idling. so it seems to have worked whatever crap was stopping it out of its system and is idling pretty much fine now. sits at 500 revs (a little low?) and occasionaly jumps up to 650, so its not quite even but i dont think it ever was. thanks for the help lads.
  17. Yeah ive been looking through my haynes and it looks like it may have only been on the turbo models as the directions for replacement and adjustment are for the 1981 turbo model only, hence maybe that means the other models dont have it. But, i was feeling round and found the box thing which i thought was the crank angle sensor, so maybe it does have one. if i can figure out where that mystery cable connects to and plug it in, maybe it will all work. but that wouldn't make sense because it all worked fine when it wasn't plugged in to anything. and i dont think i have an airflow meter.
  18. thanks for the prompt reply, i think ive located where the crank angle sensor is. was kinda feeling round next to the ignition timing thing down where all the belts and that are . Looks like i'll have to pull out the radiator to get at it. Just a question, the hose/line which comes verticaly up from there near the distributor, where is it supposed to connect to? because i followed the line up from the ignition timing/crank angle sensor bit and it isn't actually connected to anything at all, i couldn't see where it would connect either. I havent disconnected it, and it doesn't look like it had just fallen off from anywhere.
  19. just got back from 3 weeks away and went to start my 280zx. it started, then after a few seconds lost revs, almost stalled, went back up, then back down and stalled.. then didn't get any better trying to start it a few times after that. if i pumped the accelerator and got it above 1000 revs it would be fine but if it dropped back down it would splutter and clunk and stall. it has been parked outside for the 3 weeks so its taken some rain etc, ive been having a look in my haynes and a possible cause looks like it may be moisture on the distributor. it was fine before i left and hasn't been driven so im thinking if rain got in there that might have happened. the other thing that might have screwed up again is my stupid wolf 2D ecu, but the 'bay' lights indicating when each spark is firing seems to be in order (which wasn't the case last time because my ignition coil was screwed.) i spose it could be any number of things but any other obvious things to check?
  20. i think im in sydney then at the beach. so wont be making it.
  21. the price for a 280zx can arrange a fair bit from 1k to 6k or more or less depending on condition/mods. sounds like its in decent condition but you can never know until you see and drive it. im not really sure of the prices of 260's... but they will tend to start at 4 or 5k and go up to 20k dependin on condition. some of the other guys will be able to help you out a little more. i'm bored so i felt like replying... lol.
  22. oh, i didn't see this reply to the thread i started, that makes perfect sense zeddophile. ill go try that in a sec.
  23. hmm... i will probably be upgrading to a better wolf system someday, but i definately can't afford to at the moment. i'll have to stick with my poo poo 2D ecu.
  24. When i bought my car it came with a custom spray can for touch ups. anyone know a good place to get these and for how much? do i have to somehow take in a bit of my paint so they can make it exactly right? or maybe just drive there to match it. cheers.
  25. yeah thats nice and simple. by the way van, if you ever want to chuck a little 280sex into your comics and you need photoness to trace or however you work your magic, then i can help you out. on a side note: do you guys think the VIC number plate 280sex would be taken? id look like the biggest wanker, but dangit, if i had some funk blasting out of the stock cassette deck, who cares right?
