  1. Could get something like this for jsut over the $500 mark if you bargain right. If people interested in the speaker boxes wanted me to buy the speakers with them I would have more bargaining power at the shop. http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/Speakers/TS%20A6983S.aspx http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/Amplifiers/GM%205400T.aspx Or you could go for these running straight from the headunit without an amp for about $140 http://www.pioneer.com.au/en/Products/Car%20Entertainment/Speakers/TS%20A6963E.aspx Obviously the more expensive speakers with an amp will be better, but have a ride in my car (40watt 6x9's straight from the head unit) and see what you think. If you're happy with it you can save your money for other things
  2. Looks good George. I recently made a blog, man it's hard work so I can appreciate what you have done/are doing. I was just making a couple of blogs to use as a service history for my cars, something I can easily update with things like heard a knock from the rear end today, put new plugs in, put electric fans in etc. Catching up on the last few years is what's taking the time but after that hopefully it should be smooth sailing. Good luck with it
  3. I'll take a pic of the on I've got in the car already. It should turn out exactly the same. You can be first on the list and it doesn't have to be a commitment to buy, you should see the final product/cost first. I'lll just send you a msg first when I get them finished (hopefully around mid Jan when all of the shops have opened up again) The hole is a tuning port (it will have a nice plastic insert there when complete). There are generally 3 types of boxes, sealed, ported and a passive reflex system. Basically a ported system will allow the speaker to move further out (ie go louder) with less force. The port is also 'tuned' to complement the roll off or natural bass limit of the speaker. This is why most people go for this option. I usually build sealed speakers (ie the box is airtight). These require the speaker to use more power to fully extend, but the pressure in the box will suck the speaker back into place quicker making for a nice crisp sound. The 3rd option, passive reflex, usually has a sealed port that can flex (like a speaker sitting in the box but not connected). This is a bit of a trade off to get the best of both worlds and this is how I built my home theatre speakers.
  4. Oh I need one for my 2+2 anyway It's really not worth the hassle, the fiberglass wouldn't be dense enough to make enough of a difference anyway. It seals quite well against the rear of the car as it is.
  5. My dad needed some shed space so he could fix some rust and respray his rover. So he finished off the rotisserie for me so he could move my car around the shed. As you can see in the photos the shed's quite chockas and needs to be cleaned out. My car is being used as a storage shelf atm. The car has been sitting in that primer for the last 2 years so that will need to be sanded again. We have decided that we are both hopeless at bogging so we are going to give it to our spray painter to straighten out the body. We will just line up the panels as best as possible.
  6. That was one of the things I was going to 'upgrade' as the motorsport box only seals into the rear lights. I was very surprised when I took the box off cause I thought for sure it would be completely sealed. I left it this way as it would be lighter, easier to make and take up less room in the hatch. It still sounds damn good. I'm running two 50 watt 6x9's straight from the head unit and it sounds nice and balanced (enough doof doof considering there isn't a sub) and it's loud enough to hear over my noisy exhaust on the highway. I would recommend going a small amp and slightly more powerful speakers though. But this is completely uneccessary. Also forgot to mention, I might make a 2+2 design that angles the speakers to fire into the hatch glass, otherwise they would be firing right into the back seats and would only be good for bass...
  7. That car is like the picture of Dorian Gray, for every rust repair we do to the other car, this one gets slightly worse
  8. I didn't realise that that thing in my yard was actually a highly sort after rat rod <a href="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/Misc/IMG_1475.jpg"><img src="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/Misc/IMG_1475_small.jpg"></a>
  9. While I was home for christmas I told Steve I'd make him a speakerbox. I was going to use the Motorsport Auto design and improve it but it turns out they've done a pretty good job. There are a few small things I could have done to improve it but it wouldn't have been worth the hassle/cost/weight. Here are the 4 boxes made, just waiting on getting them carpeted. 1's for Steve but I will be selling the other 3. I'll have to see how much the carpet comes in at but I'm thinkin they will be around the $100 mark. I'll post some more pictures once they have been sealed and covered.
  10. Haven't access got access to my webspace atm so images are attached...
  11. I do, i've just driven back to gladstone for christmas (through a horrible storm for 6 hours, impressive lightning show though ) but I did bring my hard drive so I can upload them. I'll do it once I get setup. I went out and bought all the gear to make 4 speaker boxes today. The woodworking is a little bit more complex than I was expecting (not straight cuts) but it's still not that hard or anything. I'll make a thread once I get something substantial done.
  12. Thanks for the offers guys, didn't end up bidding on them though: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290381713689&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching They were at $33 all day then went up. I don't really need them, I just know what they're worth
  13. Would anyone be able to pick up some parts from West Sydney sometime in the next week or two?
  14. Haha we can debate forever about the value of z's... I agree that you might not find a roadworthy 2+2 for $2000. I think the average acceptable price for a roadworthy 2+2 atm would be about $4000+. The value has defently gone up recently, I would assume due to supply and demand, but I doubt many of these 2+2's in the +$10000 range listed online have actually sold for that. Ie this 2+2 on ebay didn't get one bid: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300377615393&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:AU:1123 Sure there may have been a couple go for that price, but I think anyone who has been around z's for a while wouldn't be paying that. The exceptions are cases like rev's car, but this is different because you can look at the forums and see exactly what has gone into the car and the quality of workmanship etc. I wouldn't be buying a 2+2 in the $10-20k range unless they had detailed photos of the rust repair/paint process. I guess my point is that, just because the cars are being listed in a higher price bracket, it doesn't mean they are actually selling for that. From what I can tell from Sirpents info and pics I would say his valuation is right on the money. Just my 2 cents...

  16. I saw that, thanks for the offer but these aren't for me. I msg rev to find out which bowl it is and he hasn't gotten back to me. But I did tell him to sell them to someone else or put them on ebay cause I didn't want to screw him around. Basically they need a fuel bowl and a manifold. I have a manifold and a rebuild kit so... I was going to clean them up and rebuild them. Then I would work out the cost price of everything together and put them for sale on the site saying: offers over cost price, with every dollar over being donated to the site. Looks like this is going to be too much hassle now but if you have a single carb, post it up. Doens't matter if it's front or back. It's a 50/50 chance right?
  17. I think the 'Authorised Member' section is a good idea. Maybe just have it open to donating members? I think most information should still be under the free section but maybe the authorized section could have things like group buys for rare parts or things that members have organised for the benefit of others (like this collection). I've still been meaning to donate $10 at the start of every month and making a thread about it, which would hopefully remind or inpsire others to do the same. Qld Z Car Club membership is about $100 a year and I probably get more benefit out of auszcar.com so I can justify $120 a year (when I can afford it )
  18. I hope you're bringing the Delorean...
  19. This ones currently uploading. If you can't see anything just hit refresh in about 10 minutes... <a href="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/MtMee/_MG_1323.jpg"><img src="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/MtMee/_MG_1323_small.jpg"></a>
  20. Last picture updated for pedantic people like Greg and myself When do you reckon your car will be done waxy?
  21. Haha I thought about it, too much effort Should have just learnt to park properly in the first place.... :s

  23. Yeah I thought the ad was funny as well. From the sounds of it the director never thought it would be an ad to screen on telly, it's just the ad to win them the deal/competition. So actually pretty smart on their behalf. Something that normally wouldn't be allowed to be screened on tv for being dirty or whatever tends to get more hits on something like youtube. It's like that viral add for Heineken with the beer bottle on the ladies back (although that wasn't actually made by Heineken) People are way to sensitive. I've said (and done) dirtier things in my sleep.... Haha she is a pretty lady, I keep telling my housemate to make sure he holds onto her
