Maybe see the guys at http://www.fourways-engineering.co.uk/index.html They do Z parts.

Yep I guess no-one knows. I want with the BMW as a standard L28 TPS will fit on.

How much are you willing to spend? You can still get some from Japan from Thrust/Greddy here is a link http://www.trust-power.com/nissan/fairladyz/exh/tr_na_exmani.html . I have a set of Fujitsubo like these. http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/mc-prod/psrs-v.php3?id=00000090 There are a number of other places in Japan. Then you can get plenty from the US including some from Nissan Motorsport see http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CP&Category_Code=s30_nismo_headers I am sure there are many more.

There is a place is the US that is remanufacturing the panels for 240z. I will see if I can find the link.....I will edit this post once I do EDIT: see http://www.classicdatsun.com/new/panels.html

The S20 engine used in the Z432 is not an L-series engine. It was an entirely Prince company design' date=' which Nissan acquired at the time the companies merged.[/quote'] If you want a close engine from Nissan then it is the FJ20 that you will be looking for as this design was taken from the S20 (as lambs has stated a Prince design). So other than the S20 there is no other period correct DOHC. Re the OS Giken DOHC for the L6 bottom ends. I believe they were cast using a wooden mold the first casting were the best as they were stonger units. They later changed the casting to keep the costs down (I believe) however these were not a strong and as such most have been killed on the track (bent/warp etc). The last I heard is that there were 3 of the original casting heads still around in cars in Japan however the owners will not part with them so unless you are planning on making your own DOHC I think you will be out of luck (or a lot of coin if you could convince someone to sell theirs.....would you?) Having said all this I believe a RBxx torque plate can be used on the old L6 bottom ends when doing a over bore....hmm how much water and oil galleries need moving etc - anyone looked in to this? I have not seen a RB head off so I can't tell you anymore than the above.

Just thought I would let you all know the ZClub of NZ (which almost folded - we are Motorsport NZ affiliated ie like a CAMS club in OZ) is now back on track (I guess I should have never moved to OZ it started to go down hill after I left the commitee). Anyway we are slowly getting back to strenght however it will take sometime to undo the damage the last committee did to the club. We would like to have 200 members by the end of 2006 (back to the old numbers) Anyway if you are interested have a look and check out what a long weekend worth of work sitting in front of a computer screen can achieve. I am pleased with the outcome so far (my first true attempt at a web site, my personal website is a install and run with it setup) http://www.zclub.org.nz

many use a 60mm TB from a NA 200sx with the SR20DE engine. There are number of places in the US that sell a adapter that bolt right on that line all the stock linkages up (however it is simple so you could make one your self) I am sure that are others you can use also, 65mm falcon, bmw like me (required some mods on the TB, and porting of the intake)

I car painter mate and my brother (a panel beater) both reckin a dark colour is the way to go. They say dark cars don't rust out as bad due to the extra drying they get from the heat the colour generates.

Yep so was mine - the early 240z had two leavers on the console. 1 x choke and 1 x hand throttle. I believe the were removed after a few accidents. I heard of one in NZ where an Auto 240z was sitting at a set of lights - the wife went for the hand bag and it got caught on the hand throttle = result one Zed with go juice applied and a bid of panel damage to the 240z and the car in front If I find a PIC showing the two side by side I will post it here
-
I agree with Lambs it is a twin butterfly TB - you can see the lower butterfly in the pic if it was a single at the angle of the photo you would not see the throttle shaft of the butterfly. my 2c worth - however this is not the larger or better flowing NAPS manifold with the twin TB setup so I would say might be off a L20e power S31 so this is why the guy has listed as off a 240z as he does not know the difference between a 240z, 260z and Fairlady Z (200Z if you like) The L20e power fairladies are more like a 260z than a 240z as they have the 260z dash, tail lights etc.
-
I have to agree OTT, each to their own - I think he should have stuck to moding a Mopar or the like. However I do like the G-Noses but this one just does not look right with the big lower section.
-
Going to Auto to manual is easy - you need to remove the flexiplate from the auto L28e engine, install the bush/bearing in the rear of the crankshaft (auto don't have) then insall the flywheel and drop the engine in.
-
I spotted that also - thought hmm maybe I should have a look at it when I am over from NZ next week...but then thought better of it - shipping to NZ would not be good and like you Lambs the wife would kill me
-
There are two types of rear screens with de-mister. The very early ones have vertical wires and the later ones are horizontal. Only matters to the concource type/must be original....which I am not.

So does anyone know if all F54 have flat-top pistons or is it just the F54/P90 combos that do. Reason I ask is that I have 3x L28's I picked up a while ago (I have not pulled them down yet). 1 is a N42/N42 combo (assume dish pistons) and 2 x F54/N42 combo's I have no idea if these are stock or someone has had a play with them.

Ok got booking etc sorted for work next week - I will be flying in on Sunday 29th (this Sunday) I get in a 7pm - then into town via the rental to check in - free time that night Work Mon-Fri but every evening is free so far I leave on Friday afternoon (need to be back home on Saturday and there are only 2 flights a day from Mel to Auckland, afternoon = 1am Saturday arrivial or morning = Saturday afternoon arrivial = too late) So basically I am free Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed and Thur evening to catchup chat etc. I have Sulio and Gav's mobiles so will call one of you once have checked in at the hotel etc on Sunday around 7:30pm at a guess.
-
Well I might be on your side of the Tas for the last week of Jan 2006 and frist part of Feb 2006. Just a 1 week visit, getting in on Sunday around 7pm (once I have the flight and accom confirmed next week) and leaving on Friday afternoon - so that does not give me much free time as I will be at work like most during the day - so that leaves a evening meet catch up. I should have a rental car so can visit any side of Melbourne As stated I will post another update on when I will be in town when I know more - as usually short notice. However I will be in town during the F1 GP week as I have conference to attend to the week after the GP (great timing...funny how this happens every year around GP time )

gav look at it this way most modern motorcycles are 11:1 stock and run on pump gas. I also believe the new ford Barra 190 engine has 10.?:1 So I think 10:1 - 11:1 would be tops for pump gas. so the 3.1 will have 11:1 ish = big HP. I have heard that LD28 cranks don't last too long if they see 8500rpm so make sure you have a good rev limiter (if your engine can spin this far)
-
gav I was talking to a Zed racer here (his engine build is reg cook - might not mean much in OZ but in the 70/80's reg was the Datsun/Nissan guy) anyway he said triples are the ducks nuts for the L6 - he said getting them setup correctly can take some time and $$ but it is worth it. He said he has read the US sites that say they go out of tune easy etc...he said bollocks if the carbs are correctly matched to the cars head and exhaust and you use just one drop arm and good balancer between the rest you will have not problems.

yea I got my Wats new from Japan. I visited a local performance shop that I know is owned by a ex Nissan Japan employee (also Japanese). He imports parts and works on Nissan Skyline GT-R, Silvia's/200sx, 300zx but is also a 240z fan (he used to own one when living in Japan - he is now thinking of getting another one since I have been visiting him asking for all these parts from Japan ) any he has the contacts in Japan to help locate these items (as some will not sell to non Japanese, it does cost me a little more as he takes his commission and also his contact at the other end, but I do get the parts I am after) plus like to have seen I do pick up other bits for my project from ebay Re the rewinds - I emailed Konig to find the local importer/distributor, I talked to them but they were not that interested in importing this type if wheel trying to sell me some bling FWD offset shit  so I purchased from ebay from ggtyler (or you can visit his website and email him directly see http://www.technotoytuning.com/ ) I purchase some other suspension parts also for another car so I got them landed in NZ for under $1300 but this did include other bits so I would say under $1000 AUD depends on the shipping method ggtyler has some rewinds list now also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AE86-510-240Z-260Z-280Z-15x7-Datsun-Konig-Rewind-Wheels_W0QQitemZ8029237117QQcategoryZ43955QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem -
I have been told but a performance shop here (usually doing race car/targa cars and rotaries are their speciality) that the ones from http://www.jenvey.co.uk/ are crap. The had a customer import them and they were not that impressed. They recommend the Australian manufactured units EFIHardware - SpeedTechnology and as you have listed http://www.twminduction.com/ While talking about triples the best setup is to have one drop leaver arm and the other carbs connected using a balance joiner (much like the EFI DCOE TBs) as they stay in turn much better as those leaver arms x3 can be a pain to get right.. Well I did it last night I ordered a set of triple 45mm EFIHardware TBs. I already have injectors etc as stated so for me this was ok on the price (still a lot of coin). Should be in NZ in 20days can't wait.....
