You really are rather disturbed..... Are you the brother I never knew I had? -
Also means you can possibly put the compressor in its own little enclosure outside, saves noise and space inside the shed?

Aftermarket Radiator for RB25 in 240Z (oil cooler and oil cooler bypass valve)
Zeddophile replied to Hunter's topic in Engine
wow... been looking at trying to fit one of their radiators in my Rangie (possibly the zed one) with a little modification, but the $380 tag was a bit high for a maybe.... Might have to try your trick! -
Would have thought it was about how to operate the jaws of life so that you can get to whatever needs fixing....

So change the crownwheel over, and set the LSD centre up in your 3.7 diff, then sell the 4.3 crownwheel and pinion set?

Usually at Sandown they seem to camp in or around the grandstand. Which isn't really fair, cause it echos there!

New Melbourne Member, wanting to buy a Z

What the hell? There seems to be about as many Alfa guys on this board as there are MX5 guys now! At least with a 105 you don't have to fit webers to them to make them sound good - the factory already did it for you But I can't handle the floor mount pedals - When I get into a 105 I end up tangled up in them, like a seagull in a plastic six-pack ring, squawking and trying in vain to get the right angle to stop smashing my knee into the steering wheel on the way to getting my left foot to the appropriate side. What you lot need is a GTV6 - with a quadcam fitted. -
I know MaygZ has already been sorted, but thought I might make a few comments here in case anyone else is looking to buy one... What he said - FAD is basically what you actually get out of the air line. If the sticker doesn't specifically say FAD or free air delivery, assume the quoted figure is what the compressor head is theoretically capable of moving. To give you an idea of the difference, my compressor pump is rated at 16cfm (453l/min), but its FAD is 11.6CFM (328l/min). You can see why manufacturers often use the pump displacement, as its not industry regulated to use FAD ratings. Ratio seems to hold pretty true in general, so if it doesn't say FAD on it, take 3/4 of the figure and thats probably a reasonable estimate of the FAD. Some compressors are worse though, and some don't even give any figures - keep on walking... Excellent piece of advice here, just look at what secondhand compressors of a good size go for on Ebay (and how many bids they have). Mines 16cfm (11.6cfm FAD), and its 240v, but 15amp (3hp motor). There are quite a few brands around this size, and I think from memory one or two a touch bigger. A 15amp outlet shouldn't cost much to have an electrician run in the shed if you want to do it the right way, or you could always do what mine has had done (as well as my cold saw, both before I took posession of them), and get out the file. Highly illegal, and can potentially void insurance if you had a problem - I'll probably return to 15amp plugs once I finally get round to extending the garage. That said, my cold saw had 10amp fuses in the power supply box on the motor, despite having a 15amp plug Two other comments - bigger compressors with decent solid heads on them actually tend to be quieter than the little cheapies, and a big tank is useful. Mines 120L, and I can do a fair bit on a full tank before I need to switch the bugger on. For the smaller compressors, grabbing another tank may allow you to get a bit more usefullness out of it. See guys flogging off various air tanks for $20 or $30 on Ebay, or you can make one if you have the required items... I have a keg in the back yard I'm thinking about using for race meetings.

Go to a race meeting (does canberra have a racetrack?) near you on a weekend, and look for the cars with stick on graphics and stripes then ask them who they used. I know one of the signwriters who does this sort of thing in Melbourne, but that doesn't help you much.

Have to agree with the comments abouts Shannons. In the auto trade, and work closely with a panel beater, and we find that when our customers have to make a claim, Shannons are always the most painless to deal with out of any of the companies - they'll basically just pay up when they've been told how much. Very rare to get bad feedback from someone who's actually had to make a claim through Shannons. The experience of dealing with other companies range from 'usually not too bad' to 'my ears are bleeding with rage', and that is experienced both by the car owner, and the panel shop.... I have been told previously that some company allowed $25 an hour labour charge - which is about what it costs the shop to employ their worker, let alone other running costs and actually making any money to eat at the end of the day. Can't speak specifically for Lumleys/Vigil, the only case I can remember where I've known them to be the insurer (Vigil) was one where someone set fire to a fence, and burned up two of a friends cars (late model stuff). Both were well and truly written off, so it was fairly straightforward. However, I think they took some time to pay, and there was no option to buy the cars back without going to auction (not that there was much worth getting). Which, Lurch, I assume (hope) that is one of the 'options' you have included? With Shannons, its a given, no problem at all you have first option on the car if its written off.

Same sick sense of humour, I think. The title of your injectors wanted post made me laugh too... Good thing I'm not a stand up comedian, probably starve if I have to wait 5 years for a laugh!

Sounds like Qld Transport are about as well organised as Vicroads. In which case, if you don't like any of the answers you get, hang up and redial... the next person you get will give you a different answer. Rinse, repeat, until you get an answer you like Good luck with the search... sounds like it may have gone interstate?

Can anyone recommend a good rust repair place in south brisbane?

There is one on Ebay at the moment, in Sydney. About $10 currently.. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-260z-Spare-Wheel-Well-/290435594664?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item439f4f79a8 -
Lol - I missed this one, good call. Looks like one of those ones where you scream out "Bugger fuck shit." and then go oh well, it had to happen someday. I have something similar on the front of the GF's '98 Alfa GTV6. Had the car for 2 weeks, and someone backed into the bonnet while I was inside the lunch shop for literally 60 seconds (walk in, grab drink from fridge, pay, walk straight out). Probably in a trayback ute, the metal flap they mount the tailights on looks a good candidate for the two marks it left and there was one parked in front of me when I went to drive off. He probably never even felt hitting it, as the bonnet is composite fibre (covers the headlights as well, its basically the whole front of the car) and the damage small as from a very light impact. One corner of the light frame has taken a nick out of the paint near the middle, about 5mm in length. Looks like a big stone chip, and I'd probably not have noticed that for ages. However, there are two holes in the bonnet either side that the headlights shine through, and there is quite a decent chunk taken out of the corner of one of those. Which stands out like anything, because the exposed composite fibre is white, and the car is red. Looks like a birdshit, which is exactly what I thought it was when I looked back at the car while walking away from parking it at work. Especially since there hadn't been any white mark there 30mins earlier when I walked out of the house, looking cheerfully at our new car, and I was pretty sure I hadn't driven into anything on the way to work! Closer inspection caused the above phrase (or something to that effect) to ring out rather loudly. Followed by another when I realised that I drove away from the car that probably did it without noticing - ergo, no insurance claim. So, the GTV is still missing a chunk out of its bonnet
-
Cruel! Although, is it just me, or does she not look too pleased about Stevo insisting the car must be in the photos?
-
Yeah.... just make sure they don't see the Batmobile.....
-
I think they have a cockatoo problem in that area....
-
The problem with that, is it doesn't matter how far away you're parked, and how many hundred empty spaces there are around you, you are guaranteed to come back and find someone parked either side of you (and the remaining couple of hundred spaces around as empty as when you arrived). Sheep mentality is unbelievable - and bloody annoying.

Yes, if you run it at lower amps, the duty cycle increases. Often manufacturers have a kind of chart with duty cycles at 3 outputs, odd that BOC don't. However I just looked up WIA's Weldmatic 175, and it has a 16% duty cycle at 175A, but 100% duty cycle at 67A. Theoretically the BOC should be pretty similar, and since Loui has just bought one, he may be able to find those figures for you on the machine or in the owners manual. Seems to continue to be strong indicators that BOC are in fact Kemppis, so maybe I will just have to bite the bullet and pick up one of the BOC 250R with remote wire feed that are sitting on Evilbay at the moment.... But my wallet hurts just thinking about that!
