Hi Eddii unfortunately it's very slow due to our current server. I have just purchased a new hosting account with a new company that should rectify the problems and have us running in good steed. I will be working toward getting us up and running on the new server over the next week or two (provided things go well).

Hi everyone, A friend and I are looking for a decent L28 in a junk yard and want to know what the best way to test compression would be. If I bring a fully charged battery and connect it at the terminals then place a screw driver at the starter to bridge the connection it should kick over the engine shouldn't it? Provided the wiring in that area is in tact we should be able to kick it over enough to check the compression. Does anyone have a better technique or tricks of the trade?

JSK/Wilwood 4 pot 2 piece disk group buy
gav240z replied to XRQTR's topic in Brakes / Drivetrain Components
I met a fellow by the name of Frank with a Turbo L31. He has done a very similar rear brake conversion. He didn't use Wilwood's though he used Z32 rears I think. Don't quote me on it cause I can't recall for sure. The Wilwood conversion looks great. It's a shame I can't join the group buy because of my current situation (saving for OS). Best of luck with it, looking forward to seeing the results. -
From what I've heard Stewart is very good. Any particular reason your looking for someone else? I've had my fair share of dodgy mechanics and I'd rather spend a bit extra for someone reliable than deal with liars and thiefs lol.

It's a conspiricy I tells ya. Yeah I haven't been down to Zworx in ages myself. Z Parts are getting harder and harder to find but there's always Ebay! Sometimes I wish I lived in American, then I wake up .

Hi Felix is this a personal address or business address. If it's the first please remove it, if it's business it's ok to leave it.

There is usually a bracket on each side of the front bumper. I've noticed some people have removed them and they must bend the bumper inward on the sides to make it fit without it. I know the rear bumpers on the 2+2 are slightly wider, but the front's should be the same. Perhaps a photo would help?

Selling My 240z $35,000 Spent Bargain at $16,900 - PICS ADDED
gav240z replied to Sooley's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Man this sucks on a number of levels. First of all your selling it and I was looking forward to seeing the end results, but at the same time everyone is giving out bargains I'm saving and going overseas and can't buy any of these goodies even though I have the money grrrrrrrrrrrr........how frustrating. All the best selling the gear but why why now? First the RB30 Z in NSW now this. -
One day when I'm rich and famous I'll be able to indulge in such activities.

First of all I'd like to say that the only advertising would appear in the top banner and in the Google Adsense area like that of the front page. I understand where you are coming from George and I'm not about to compromise this site with ugly adverts everywhere. I didn't want to put adsense on the site but I think it's current location is ok and it looks neat unlike the first attempt. Our hosting costs are not that high Modular9, thankfully. We are on shared hosting so it's significantly less. However I did buy one or two commercial components for Joomla which I was happy to wear the cost for as setting this site up has given me great exposure to Joomla and a really good understanding of what it can do and how it works, as well as configuring to achieve what I want. What it has cost me is lots of time, all at my own free will and all for the benefit of helping to shape my own web site development / management / modification / customisation / marketing skills etc. So it's not time lost infact time invested. Like anything though it would be nice if this site could help me with my own Z project and so far it's been great because I've met some really cool people who have lots of knowledge and great looking Zcars. I have placed a PayPal button on the front page and any donation size is welcome. Modular9 not running Joomla 1.5 yet not until it's a final release and moved out of Beta. Even then I'll probably hold off until I can modify it to my needs which will take time for the community to catch up. Joomla is great and the best part is customisation I guess that's why you didn't pick it. The front page and articles are using Joomla, the forum is SMF and the Gallery Coppermine. Joomla is not bridged with either for simplicity and security FYI .

haha thanks guys for the feedback. We are going to have a technical articles section and Craig has provided some material already, it's just a case of getting the time to put it into a structured article on the site. I had a couple of bugs to work through last night, but with the excellent help at Joomla.org I've been able to resolve it for now at least. There are still plenty of cars to do features on but it would be good to have some local cars. I met a fellow by the name of Frank about a month ago with an L31 Turbo engine in his S30 Fairlady Z (yes Japanese import) not HS30. He's done alot of very very cool mods and I'm hoping he will be able to get to our next meet to show off his Z to some enthusiasts. I mentioned we should do an article on his Z and he seemed warm to the idea. That should give us some Aussie Z development stories. Adsense income is based on clicks not impressions. The ads are there really to more or less try and cover our expenses for hosting and the website in general but there is no mega bucks in it . I'm looking to get some banner ads running on site though so hopefully that will be a little bit better.

Hey Sulio, yeah thanks for the feedback. I've spent some time putting a nice table together to list mods and other technical specs on each feature car. The original image gallery plugin I was using was a bit buggy and same with the Google Ads plugin. So I've gone with something a bit more refined and easier to configure. I'm still working out how it all works together so the featured articles are a slight mess in terms of layout at the moment. I'm hoping to make some stylesheet changes and learn a bit more about how the images go together in articles. Once everything is sorted I'll bring Mark Rolston's and Nigel's articles up to speed to be more like Eiji's ZG article. Eiji's car is great though, I have to say the amount of work gone into it and just how fast it is for a carb'd L28 is amazing .

What you would like your Z to look like?
gav240z replied to Toecutter's topic in General Discussions
Yeah it could unpurple itself, remove the 80's recaro's and put "real" zg flares on it . Other than that though it's kinda cool, but far from my favourite . -

I love it Sulio, absolutely gorgeous. It's hard to tell but is the lighting causing a white car to look green? If it's the original 70's green I love it even more it's just such a great colour. This car makes me want to keep mine as original as possible. However I also love the old race car look and of course probably my favourite the ZG look. -
I must say it's better than alot of custom attempts I've seen. This is a panterra (I think) rear hatch modification. I remember seeing pictures on the net about 6 or so years back. I've got some photo's in my archive or some zeds in the US with this mod. When I first got into Zeds the first one I looked at was a 2+2 which was red with the modified hatch like this, it also had the front guards massaged to look like a Ferrari GTO. I didn't buy the car thank god, but it was kinda unique. I wonder if he still get's fumes now that the shape is modified?

Nice choice should work well with the flares. I was torn between those wheels and Watanabe's when I was considering flares, I think though in the end I'll go for Watanabe's simply because I like the "period" race car look. Post pics when you get them. Are you getting polished centre's or black?

Hi everyone, I just wanted some feedback on the articles we have on the website. I'm still working out a format that we should stick to consistently and thanks to a fellow member I now have an indepth questionaire for future featured rides. In particular I'd like your opinion on the image format. I am referring to the lightbox effect when you click on an image. Do you guys like the effect or would you prefer a simple popup window? I am currently experimenting with a few image layout options. You can see the two different styles in action on Nigels Car and Mark Rolston's. I am thinking of having articles in the following format. 1.) A bit of a write up about the car and it's outstanding features 2.) Followed by the story behind the car from owners perspective 3.) Specs table showing mods and details However I'm not sure if images should be spread out throughout the article or placed at the end start or middle of an article in a gallery like format. Cheers Gavin. PS: Do you enjoy reading the articles?

Hi everyone, I have or at least I think I have lost my keys recently to my 240z. I know I know I should have made a copy, but I'm well stupid . Anyway it looks like I'll need to get a new lock kit or second hand one. I need a full set. Doors, Hatch, Ignition. Has anyone got a spare set and how much do you want for it? Or alternatively do you know where I can get one new or second hand? Can't start her up until I get new ones or hopefully find the old, but I think I might have dropped them on the train .

I think those wheels are Speed Star Racing SSR. http://www.brandonyu.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=13744 Maybe just wider and deeper offset.

Hi everyone, As part of a new technical articles section on the website, I would like us to put together (with the help of everyone) a new Zcar owners buyers guide. We have probably all experienced some common problems and know of some common pitfalls when it comes to a Zcar and many potential new owners or buyers commonly ask questions related to what to look for. I'd like to start a thread with input from all about what they think we should list in the article. I am thinking of perhaps breaking it into sections based on year and model. EG: Series I 240z 1970 - 1971 Series II 240z 1971 1/2 - 1973 and so on.... It would also be good to have seperation between bodywork and mechanicals, perhaps like a concours checklist. I think an article / guide would be a huge value to Z owners around the world and we can always add reference pictures and other relevant information as we go. Let me know your thoughts.

Ever wondered what websites used to be like or want to remember how they looked 5 years ago? http://www.archive.org let's you do that, granted due to size limits some images are missing and not all pages will be there, but it's a really good reference. Anyway I figured I'd take a look at how viczcar.com started http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.viczcar.com/ I'm almost embarrassed looking at our first website, but gotta start somewhere.

I know that some of you have some stunning cars so if you would like to have your car featured please submit your details to the following form: Updated Submit My Car To Auszcar Member Rides We can never have too many featured cars!

Hey everyone, Just thought this would be a good conversion point for many of us, since alot of us have owned or own our first Zcar. Tell us about your first Zcar or even your first car for that matter. What was it, what happened to it and what work (if any) did you do to it. I'll go first . My first car was a 1973 Red Datsun 240z. It was very original but a had rust under the battery tray. At the time we didn't have a garage so I couldn't fix it and put it in storage. I bought another white 1975 Datsun 260z 2+2 just before I got my license and it was good fun hooning around with mates in the back. It went hard too with the old L28. I got sick of the 2+2 after realising it was a lemon in terms of bodgy body work and decided I'd sell it and fix up the 240z since the garage was now ready. I started pulling it down to a shell, the 2+2 was written off while delivery pizza's (never do that ever again - not my fault either) and I used some spare cash from insurance to buy a cheap run about (Toyota Corolla). Unfortunately for me the Corolla was vandalised to the extent of nearly $2000 worth of damage and being a broke student there goes all my savings toward body work on the 240z. Fixed up the corolla sold it off cheap, bought my current 1972 240z and unfortunately sold the 73 240z shell to a mate for too cheap . I was happy though as I got my 240z. Still have it now of course .
