Due to SPAM concerns - Members who sign up and use their first post to promote their business will have their post locked, deleted and accounts removed. Tips for businesses: Offer special rates and discounts to members on this site. Be an active member of the community before promoting your business, product or service. Answer questions, concerns and use member feedback constructively If you look after our members they will look after you and your business. 3. Staying Safe and Avoiding Scams A golden rule is, if any offer sounds too good to be true it usually is. Here are some tips. 1. It's always preferable to deal in person and exchange cash in hand. 2. Avoid posting your email address in full (many automated bots collect them by reading your advert for spam and other purposes etc..), instead post a contact phone number like your mobile number or request a personal message (PM). 3. Use secure payment methods that offer buyer / seller protection. 4. Do not post personal details such as your address over public forums. 5. Notify Auszcar.com moderators or webmaster if you suspect any activity or members might be non-legitimate. 6. If someone is offering you a part you need but is not specific, ask for more details. If in doubt ask for photo's of said item. It's better to miss out on a deal if you feel something isn't right. 7. Deal with credible members (usually members who have several posts, have sold items to other members) etc.. 4. Failure to follow the rules will result in your ad being removed.
  3. Well when we started out, it was just Sulio and I (and one other character we'd prefer not to mention). The idea was to get a few Z guys together and go for a cruise every now and then. Anyway since I work with websites everyday I couldn't help but tinker and improve as we went along so it's now turned into what you see today. We quickly grew and gained new members from across the country and around the world. So Viczcar is not longer Victorian based. However this is how we are known. As Sulio said the search engines are already familiar with the domain name www.viczcar.com however we can always have more than 1 name. Like Auszcar.com or something. As we continue to grow I'm sure our information will grow with it and as Sulio said we plan on adding plenty of articles to improve the resource we have, not just for Australian owners, but globally. To incorporate the other forums would probably be alot of manual database work and something beyond my immediate abilities (although it would be a great chance to learn some more about SQL). We have links to these other websites so that people can still join them, however we like to think we will be the main resource for most people. Wazcars.com is basically a club now, and there forum is for their members only. Craig did a great job with the site likewise with the other forums. If the webmasters of those forums wish to contribute here, I'm happy to give them a login where they can submit articles or other information to our site. The new system allows for several levels of user access. You will probably have noticed that our forum now contains alot more categories to cater to all the different aspects of owning a Zcar. In time I think we will become an even better resource.
  4. Hi Sooley, while I understand your frustration perhaps it may pay to give them another go to get it right. I'm sure they understand the value of having a good reputation and discussion forums such as this can have a huge negative impact through experiences such as this that are posted in the open for all to read. I'd suggest contacting them to explain the situation, perhaps mention that you should have also confirmed that this would have been the correct item over phone because order (since their description was vague). This is good feedback for them to be more specific about their part information on their website. Maybe try coming to a compromise, I'm sure they can come up with something. Then again I don't have all the details. If they know what's good for business they know they must look after you, even if it means a loss for them. Give them another go and let us know how you go.
  5. This is just a general set of observations and rules. This will be added to and amended as needed. You can read the below or just skip and watch the video on forum etiquette. Posting Guidelines When posting the following would be very helpful and will reduce annoyance to your fellow members. - Try searching our forums for the answer you seek, before posting a new topic. - If you do need to make a new post - please use an appropriate title. An example of an appropriate title: "Help with SU Carbs - Won't Sync" as oppose to "Help Car Won't Run". "Electronic Distributor Problem" as oppose to "Help Problem" "Will Watanabe 16X9 Wheels Fit?" as oppose to "Will these fit?" The more specific your topic title, the better for other users and anyone searching for a similar problem or discussion. - Please keep within the original topic or post. Changing topic mid way can be annoying and sometimes unavoidable. If a topic is going in a new direction try to start a new topic instead. (Link from current post to new topic if needed). - Respect others - Please respect others and try to remember sometimes emotion and sarcasm can be difficult to read in text on a forum. Please do not flame or put down other members. If you do not like their questions or find them silly, simply do not respond. - Please do not post commercial items or items for sale through a business without contacting us first. This website does not run on its own and is privately funded with the help of member donations. If you wish to promote your business or service, please consider making a donation toward the site to help with running costs. We also offer banner advertising. - Try to locate the most appropriate category for your post. There are many sub categories that should be able to accommodate to your topic. If you cannot find a category or section and feel it is missing or needed. Please send a request to the webmaster and we will add a category if we feel it's needed. - If you have a problem with another member, moderator or the webmaster please contact us so that we may try and resolve your issue. - Please use correct punctuation and grammar in your posts. This not only makes it more legible for others to read (increasing the chances they can help you), but it helps with the overall quality of the website (forum) and makes you look more intelligent. For example: "I NEED HELP WIF A CArBs Pr0B" is not easy to read and won't help others when they are searching our forum. - If you think a post should be made sticky please contact the webmaster or a moderator and we will review the post. Classifieds - If you intend to post an item for sale in our classified section(s), you must read our terms and conditions on posting in classifieds. You can read this here: Classified Rules Member Location - Please enter your location this helps everyone. It also can help you with any problems or questions you may have. You can enter your location details by going to the > tab at the top of the forum. Profile >> Modify Profile >> Forum Profile Information >> Location: You can choose to enter your local suburb or city, either is suitable. (See Below For Screenshots)
  6. Eddii, It really depends on what you need. What parts are you looking to salvage? Since it had a V8 in it previously, most of the parts that are common between the models are gone. There is literally nothing interior wise that's the same in a 280zx as an earlier 240z. The only thing I can really think of that would be of any use is probably the diff. The suspension changed in the 280zx so the rear's won't be of any help. If your goal is to get the rear brakes for conversion, you are probably better looking at R31 rear calipers since they are literally a bolt on job (280zx requires a bracket). CV joint conversions are better obtained from Z31 300zx's. $500 is too much to pay for what you need it for, in my opinion. Having said that I haven't seen the car so can't really give anymore useful information.
  7. Hi mate, can't help you with your inquiry, however thanks for pointing out the wanted section was missing. It has now been added and I've moved this topic here. Cheers Gavin.
  8. Kinda prefer the front spoiler black, but hey I've already told ya that
  9. Generally the consensus on putting holley carbs on a Zcar is not to do it. The standard SU's are a great carbuerettor when tuned and rebuild properly. The problem is many don't understand how they work and how to sync them. In many cases the throttle shaft requires rebushing and can cause a vacuum leak making tuning nearly impossible. Incorrect dashpot springs and the wrong oil in the dashpots can cause issues. Using sewing machine oil seems to be the key here. Once you have them nicely rebuilt with the correct needles and seats. Tuning should be quite easy and you can buy a unisyn which measures airflow when held up to them. Getting mixture right can be achieved a few different ways but generally set them lean to start with and take it for a spin. After coming back check colour of spark plugs, black means too rich and a very light brown means too lean. You want a nice brown colour. However you will get a feel for what works and what doesn't by driving the car. Then it's all about electrical timing. This has been covered quite a few times on various Z car forums. Do a search and see what you turn up. My advice stick with the SU's, in many parts of the world there are 12 second Zcars running SU's still .
  10. Early 240z's have risen in value and $11k for a decent one is a good price really. There is another nice looking green 240z on ebay at the moment. I haven't seen the car in person but it is advertised here, ebay and on ozdat.com. Here is a link. It's ebay item #170118577582 or http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240Z-1971_W0QQitemZ170118577582QQihZ007QQcategoryZ102220QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Decent rust free 240z's start around the 10K mark and the best examples can sell from 20 - 30k. A 260z sold last year for around $40k it was featured in many car magazines in the country.
  11. Hey James, are you in Japan at the moment? I'm heading over to Europe soon and thinking of stopping in Japan for a few days. I have a friend over there who I was thinking of visiting, but if your free also and I'm going to be in your area (Japan is big afterall) it would be great to meet you in person. Send me a PM or message me on MSN (you still have my msn don't you?) Cheers Gavin.
  12. and this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo0WeyGFSDA&mode=related&search=
  13. Someone may enjoy this one too
  14. Yeah I had a laugh at that one a while ago. It's very strange don't know if it's official in anyway.
  15. Yes I saw that XY Falcon GT go for big money, it was in drive I think. I don't think I'll be able to afford any of those muscle cars just yet. I wouldn't be able to afford a Z either it's only because in Australia (and in some cases the US) they are so cheap that us young fellows can grab hold of them. If it were Japan / Europe it may be another story. I had a few hiccups last night with Joomla, but I believe that was more related to my FTP program than Joomla. All going well the new format should be up and starting to take shape over the next couple of weeks. The only issue will be getting our gallery back up.
  16. zomg, you should send him some flowers and some chocolates! Jealous
  17. Hi everyone, I just came across this website after seeing some video's on youtube.com looks like a really nice clean Z and it goes quick too . It's got an L31 in it from what I've read. Anyway thought I'd share http://www.markhaag.com/ Seems to share the same interests as I do, flying planes (in his case helicopters) and driving Zcars .
  18. On the 8th day God invented the coil over kit. If your car is that low it's probably too low for the street. Go for coilovers so you can wind it up and down. Best solution in my opinion. One of the reasons I don't run a front air damn on my Zed is simply because I hate avoiding driveways. I also kind prefer a Z without an air damn but that's besides the point.
  19. Sorry it's not a Z, but it's a car at least . I've had a few recently I've had a nice animated C10 and an orange 240z.
  20. Hi Huw, Can you get me a copy of Nostalgic hero? Send me a pm if you can. Otherwise I know someone who probably can .
  21. Top gear is certainly the best car show of all time. Have you seen the rocket launch? This was the best episode because it was just so out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckyXtEd0PV0 Part two was removed for some reason but you can find a few copies of the same video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CwHBrA8fjk&mode=related&search= There's also a good video with a classic british sports car vs a pimp my ride style car. The classic car wins the hill climb .
