  1. Does anyone know if it's possible to keep an eye on your car whilst it's parked at the event? My g/f is using the daily driver and my only option is to bring the RX-7 and I don't feel comfortable leaving it out of sight.
  2. That's a good idea, often that's a big problem when traveling in groups people get confused and the pack gets broken up and chaos descends.
  3. Happy for you, looks great! Are you going to be putting the badges back on? That will really complete the look in my opinion. If you are still in contact with the previous owner you should send her some photos of the "yukky brown colour" you've painted it.
  4. It was a white 73* 240z in rough shape. Colour coded rear light garnish etc..
  5. Yes I don't think anyone would have a problem with that, hopefully you won't be the only fellas with a Z there though!
  6. Just another thing worth pointing out. Note: The SQUARE fender mirrors!
  7. I can confirm that these mirrors are spring loaded and there is a screw on the rear of the bullet part that would allow movement of the mirror position. Ironically the photos I have show everything but this adjustment screw. Never the less here are some reference photos of my other pair showing 1 side only (not the pair being sold in this thread).
  8. I would buy this in a heartbeat mate I can't believe he still has it. Just looking at it again, please find out what the chassis no. is. I suspect she's a 1970 240z based on the Hitachi Radio TM-1081ZA (with the antenna switch on the right side see George's Radio here: ) and the arrow tip antenna. I think it's had a replacement hatch at some point, I think it would have probably have had the vents in the rear hatch. If not it could be a car in the 400+ number range and perhaps right after the change over to 71 model year. The blue interior and white exterior combo is very rare and looks amazing in my opinion. It looks like the Gearknob, Ash-Tray and Console are all in good condition. These along with the radio are all difficult to obtain and expensive now! This car deserves to be restored to original condition condition and will be worth good money when and if done correctly. Please do let us know how you get on with it.
  9. Hopefully that's where they would have stayed . Even if the seats fit you must acquit* * Your S30z of being tarted up with 80s seats
  10. I don't think 240z's came in that hue from factory, I think it was a later S30 series colour. Lurch's old 260z 2+2 was that colour. I think the 240z I rode in was painted that colour to look more like the 'modern' 260z .
  11. I can tell you they're not.. FC RX-7 300zx (Z31 or Z32) Mitsubishi Starion Seats... which were my guesses... but wrong. They do look close to Z32 seats.
  12. Owwwwwwwww wine red 260z 2 seater. My first drive in a Datsun Z-car was a wine red 240z (73 model I think) and I still have fond memories of that day. Seeing your 2 seater brought back memories for me. Looks like quite a neat little car, don't blame you for keeping both.
  13. I suspect these might be old ads on the website. http://www.autotrader.com.au/cars-for-sale/1971-DATSUN-240Z-SPORTS-JCM3556747 http://www.autotrader.com.au/cars-for-sale/1975-DATSUN-260Z-SPORTS-ATW3563537 http://www.autotrader.com.au/cars-for-sale/1977-DATSUN-260Z-SPORTS-JCW3298790 The Ferrari conversion seems too cheap and looks like a mirrored photo as opposed to LHD.
  14. Interesting read on Japanese Nostalgic Car about the demographic shift of collector cars and Japanese Classics. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2014/08/18/qotw-whats-the-next-japanese-collectible/ http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2014/08/11/qotw-jnc-prices-are-on-the-rise-good-or-bad/ and related. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2014/06/23/1967-mazda-cosmo-sport-toyota-2000gt-monterey-historics-auctions/ http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2014/06/17/1972-hakosuka-gtr-at-monterey-historics/
  15. I really hope not, you've got some really unique cars that are only going to go up in value. Hang onto them if you can!
  16. Yeah possibly 1 of the best in my opinion. Gotta love that engine bay also!
  17. Ok pricing these at $300. Any interest?
  18. Nice think we discussed this car recently. HS30 00319 ? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2630.msg152099.html#msg152099
  19. 71 Fairlady Z on Yahoo! auctions. Not sure if genuine HS30-H or replica? Suspect replica only. http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u69935712 6,000,000 yen Or about 64K AUD at current exchange rate.
  20. On this point, there is a car on Gumtree at the moment that is originally a Fairlady Z 2+2. (GS30 coupe note: NO R as in GRS30) http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mindarie/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-260z-2-2-coupe-manual-jdm-fairlady-z-/1059181420 I'm pretty sure the cloth interior was standard for this era of 2+2. Also the gear knob, steering wheel are different to our home market cars (probably to do with ADRs (Australian Design Regulation for our international viewers) and safety requirements forcing the rubber steering wheel in it's place etc..) The ad says that car is a 75 model, so I'm not sure if it would have been factory fuel injected or not by this time. Pretty sure would have had an L20 fuel injected motor originally though... Also notice the speedo has a yellow / red line indicating higher and higher speeds. Which our cars did not have, along with the later Calendar clock (single knob)
  21. Further discussion here and some photos from a little while ago (before auction). http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/ebay-craigslist/53200-1969-hls30-00182-ebay.html
  22. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/08/06/better-perhaps-than-new-jeffrey-maders-1972-datsun-240z/ What I found interesting was... and in particular this comment.. If the people running it couldn't anticipate restoration costs properly, what chance do we humble enthusiasts have?
  23. Early 240z badges were metal, later (about 71 ish) onward were all plastic. Your car would have had plastic. The newer replacement ones for early 240z's available from Nissan were plastic (so even the 1/4 badge on early 240z's comes in plastic) when the originals would have been metal. The only way to get metal ones is to find them second hand. Hence the high asking price for metal ones. What are you looking to spend on an entire badge kit? Do you want new or second hand etc..?
  24. There is a pair of genuine guards on Yahoo! Auctions at the minute. Part No.s 63101-N4700 (Left Side) 63100-N4700 (Right Side) http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b164629631 Currently at 230,000 yen About 2.5k AUD before shipping.
  25. I'm sure you know this already, but Silver is notoriously difficult to blend. Hence the reason your panel beater probably doesn't want to blend it. It will always look 2 tone otherwise.
