Was this the Shell that was sold in Ballerat??

But looks like a good shell, although it would probably be best to take it all back to bare metal and again just to make sure....?

Looks fun. What's the build number? I didn't know they made S1's into 1971.

What're your plans for a finished product?

Posted

Hehe cant believe Dallas sold it, i thought it was his pride and joy, or is he on

The market for another zed ?

Did Scott and myself meet you that day at Dallas' place for the bbq?

Posted

I've got some left and right repair doglegs if your interested, these were actually going to Dallas but he disappeared after i sent him the payment details!

Posted

What he said^^^^71 S1?

Hows the LHF rail, looks like its had a hit from the way the firewall and apron are creased?

Posted

Yep, had hit from the front. Those doglegs could come in handy, depends what the panel beater needs.

Picked up a set of Mikuni's. 40's should be good for a standard L24? Got em of "biscuitballs" Can’t wait to see them on the motor.

Hope I can get the body started soon.

I got it from Canberra, not sure where it coms from.

Plans are big, cant wait to drive it. Have never even driven a 240z :'(

Mate, before doing any more purcahses on motor parts etc id bring that thing back to bear metal and really see what your delaing with. Its worrying the decay in the body is all over, not restricted to one area/region of the car.  Hopefully its just messy, but be careful not to invest too hard until you know your bodies going to be ok...

good luck with the build!!! add more pics as u go

Thanks mate, it has been taken back to bare metal. Just before I got it. Will look in to the build number.

Not sure if youve realised but there is a comprehensive build thread that the previous owner started on this zed. Im pretty sure it came from Ballarat and that there was a bit of discussion about how the front half differs in appearance from the rear( in years.) .Also It wasnt a lowish build number when I looked at it from memory.

like you said has some good bad and the ugly. But all fixable.

the area where roof and 1/4 panel meet where you have outlined. Its just lead fill done by the factory where two panels join so it nice and seamless.

also same thing is done around the the front at the top corners of the windscreen area where "A" pillar meets the roof skin.

If there is no signs of corrosion underneath or loose lead I wouldn't be concerned digging it out.

good luck with it and don't rush.

Well, still don't have a panel beater. Any one know of any in Canberra?

In other news, I found these babies lying around. Cheers, Stewart Wilkins Motorsport and buiscuitballs.....

Soon will have a Shed to throw it together in.

Hi Chino

Looks like you have some work to do.

I would definitely recommend getting the crash shop to

put it on a rack and check the measurements.

That pic you have of the LH inner guard and battery box

area looks bad. The firewall behind that rail should be flat

not all folded under like it is.

Its no big deal and fixable but its easy to do it now.

Hate you to spend thousands on body etc to find

out it cant be wheel aligned cause it isn't square.

Cheers

Paul

I take it you spoke to scott who works from home ? Awesome setup for a home oven ! I took my zed there 2 weeks so he could have a looksie.

As we all said last time ....no more silver zeds !  ;D

HI Chino

Here is a pic of another members car around the area behind the battery

box. You can see that is is straight compared to yours.

If your panel beater hasn't got the measurements for a Z

they are available on the net just do a search, Think they are on

a project on here as well .

Cheers

Paul

Howd the panel shop go? Did you find duffy auto any good? im ready for panel & paint and am looking atm

Posted

I'm going to hit Scottie (duffy auto) up for some free paint work, it seems I have gotten him a bit of work lately lol.

Good to see this zed stayed in Canberra, but please promise no silver paint and no RB25 motor, unless your name is Scott, then its tradition to have silver zed.

Hey people, sorry for the late reply. Been away for work. Have not seen much progress yet. Still a few decisions and parts to get before Scott makes a dent in the project....Ha, dent. Will let you know.
