Hi guys,

1979 Datsun 280ZX, Silver, Hard Top, Automatic.

This car has been a daily driver and has never let me down,it has very low kilometres (170,000) and runs great, starts first time.

It has some minor rust spots but these are surface and are not structural. Original paint job. No rust in engine bay or chassis. I have had this car about 3 years. I have had it recently serviced, including new brakes and wheel bearings and it drives great. Interior is dark blue and in great nick.

Features include:

Original Straight 6, 2.8L Engine with gen 170,000ks

Electric windows, mirrors, power steering, A/C (needs gas refill)

Immobiliser/kill switch

6 month new Battery

Pioneer CD player (professionally fitted into glove box) original radio is still in the car and has been wired so that it lights up when driving at night and the wiring can be reversed so the radio/tape player can be reconnected if wanted to for originality.

Selling without RWC as don't have time to organise one as am going overseas end of the month. Registered until the end of Jan this year. $4500 for quick sale. Located in Toorak, Vic

Hey mate,

just something to think about, viczcar is a community not a classified section in the newspaper. New members are encouraged to post in the 'Introductions and Forum Etiquette' section before making any endeavors for financial gain. Good luck selling the ZX but just keep in mind it's not a good look.

Thanks for your advice but I have been a member of various z clubs online and otherwise, if someone has a problem with that and it's not a "good look" as you put it then they don't have to buy it.. The site has a classified section with a "Cars for sale" section.. UMM?? I read the new member info and saw nothing that disallowed a new member from advertising a car.. (can you point it out?) it is a z car site, I have one to sell, should I need to spend a year and post 100 comments before I can advertise....? If part of the site wasn't to help people sell their cars then remove the FOR SALE section completely and have it as straight forum.. come on man,,,,,,,, by the way, I own two other z's and plan on replacing this one when I get back from OS, thanks for making me feel welcome to the "community"

It's just polite and respectful, not to mention common sense.

If you have 3 Z's currently. One would think an intro about you and all of them, with your plans to restore, enjoy and sell shouldn't be too hard.

Would you walk up to a pretty girl in a bar, drop your pants and start banging her? (sorry, best analogy I could think of)  ::)

Good luck with the sale.

Ok guys, the fact is I'm going overseas and between work and my band and organising this trip I don't have much time to get into lengthy discussions about my cars at the moment..sorry.. will update when I get back from the the US.

Hey Dat2kman.. glad it works for you 9/10 times.. ha.. yeah the price is neg to a point, would be open to offers..depends on how quick I can sell it, just need a bit of extra dough to buy up some guitars when I'm in the states. Leaving in a few weeks, if I don't sell it before I go I might hang on to it, not sure yet. And yeah I'm not far from where you were, I just moved from Canterbury rd off lambert a little while ago, just around the corner now.cheers man

Is this intro before selling thing really nesessary??

You dont buy cars or parts off ebay after hearing the life story of the person.

If you dont think he's genuine or want to steer clear due to his rapid joining then advertising then dont reply. If no one replies he'll get the hint. It is a public forum remember, and not everyone is as internet savvy as some of us, and might have sat in the darkness and read on here for years but they dont know how to put it down in words.

I think jumping on everyone because their first post is a for sale post is a bit steep. Every other auto forum doesnt require this method, hence people always coming here to sell things without being clue'd up on our 'unorthodox' procedure.

Sometimes it could be a good thing that they aren't familiar with forums and facebook as such, so they write a little add for something that someone here really wants/needs, they contact each other via PM or email and built a trustworthy relationship that way. Otherwise the item may have ended up in the bin. If they have a good experience with this forum community they might stay and contribute.

They're usually just looking to offload parts and this is a great forum with lots of people looking for such parts. Why do they have to "explain" themselves and their life story and plans for their cars in a seperate thread that they'll never some back too, before being able to post a for sale add?

I'd like to comment about the frustration expressed about advertising a car for sale and/or advertising in the wanted section . The other week I advertised in the wanted category and had a similar response. I assume after registering this would be sufficient introduction unless a membership fee is incurred.

Funny enough when I found this site all I wanted to do was sell a 240z and a 260 2+2 and clean my shed out, if some one had of offered me $500.00 they could of had both cars, 2+2 has the matching number motor for the 240z, when I first came on, I thought 1k would be the price to ask, and then I read that I need to do an introduction, so I looked to see how that was done and now noticed the car was worth a lot more so I asked for 3k, a deposit and sale was made with in 20 min's of me posting my number, that sale fell though and it gave me time to realize I was selling far to cheap, and now the 20 years of me having this car they are finally starting to be worth something, so I have decided to keep it for now, but if I didn't have to do a formal introduction and had time to look somebody would have picked up the 2 cars for 1k or less.

This one I guess keeps people divided. On some forums I have been on ( for example the 300 zx one ) you can not post in the for sale section until (x) amount of posts made.

Personally I think this is awesome function and keeps out spammers to a degree as well.

I know as much about computer Programing as I do webber carbs, so unsure how hard is to set up but I think if all donating members for the month got to see all things posted for sale for 24hrs before rest of the members / visitors.

But hey they say I am a dreamer

Hey I'm happy to and will make a donation if the car sells through this forum.. was going to do that anyway.. Anyway, if anyone is interested in the car please pm me, thanks

Please give Pauly a break. I don't think he is a car dealer.

I am in the market to buy a Z after not owning one for a long period of time.

I find it disappointing that people are not encourage to use this forum as a place to distribute knowledge and information about their vehicles whether they are for sale, restoring them or have a technical problem.

I am not suggesting that the forum could become a clicky group of computer nerds, just something to think about.

Welcome everyone! Please

I would like to continue the hijacking of this thread, but first .....

Good luck with the sale Pauly  ;D

I have an old crappy Hilux that I will be selling soon.  I might very well want to put it on one of the 4x4 forums.  I'm not really interested in restoring a hilux or even that interested in reading about other people's hiluxs, so why would I post up a bit about myself.  I just want to sell it to someone who wants to buy it and then spend the money on .... i don't know .... a Zed!

Now I feel it is very different if I plan to hang around for a while and restore this hilux.  If I had got some info from the forum to improve it for sale or take short (cause it over heats!) off-road trips with info from the forum, then that's completely different.

If I asked questions of the community to solve problems, or buy parts etc then that's different again.  I would expect and bit of pro quo in those circumstances.

Yes, we have been bitten by some fly-byers who have shown themselves to be tools, but we have had plenty more come on here to sell thier cars or parts (or umbrellas???) that have been thoroughly professional and rewarding for all.

I also take the well made point that we don't ask for personals from our eBay purchases.  Yes we have some solace from a feedback score, but we don't know what they drive, the size of their shed or the age of their first born.

Yes, Paul could have put a bit in his ad such as "I'm heading OS soon and selling one of my Zed (allbeit just a ZX) to get some guitar funds.  I'll be doing something with the other 2 when i get back ...."  He may not have got such a flame; walked away thinking they're a nice bunch of Zeders and I'll get involved with this forum more when I get back.  However, it is more likely, and very disappointing, that he will think FARK them!

So in summary:

If you are offended when people you don't know what to sell something on our forum - don't buy it (don't read the trading post or classifieds either)

If you want to know more about them, ask them questions - you get more with honey than vinegar (Pauly hasn't struck me as sectretive - he has answered all the questions put to him even after getting flamed - strikes me as a decent bloke.

If it's just what you need (or if you think you might need it one day and you can hide it from the Minister), then buy it.

My rant over.

Again- Welcome Pauly and good luck with the sale and with your trip.  I hope to hear more about your other Zeds when you get back.

MaygZ

Sorry back again - I should add that I'm not suggesting that Bullzed's comments were aggressive or rude.

I should also add - Beeber - you are an idiot!!!!!
