260 2seater Console

Just wondering if there were any differences between coupe and 2+2 consoles, or manual and auto consoles on the 260's.

Also, what would be an average price for a brand new console?

I'm not 100% certain but I believe that the 2+2 console may be slightly longer and has an astray in the back of it for the rear passengers to smoke. Real healthy huh?

 

Not sure on pricing for a new one but they are certainly easier to obtain than a good condition 240z one.

 

I'd say pay between $200-$250 for a new one. $100 for a good condition second hand one (no cracks).

they are the same as far as i can tell, just the 2+2's have an ash try at the back, where the 2 seaters have a blanking plastic bit that snaps in. i currently have a 2+2 console in my car as i didn't want to hack up my near perfect orginal one, although it has cracks in it too around the choke, which seems to be pretty common!

Zcar parts arn't getting any cheaper and I don't imagine our Zcars themselves are either.

 

I guess someone really wanted an NOS centre console for their restoration. I'm happy with a good second hand one I can restore myself. I'd hate to crack an NOS console for the price they go for.

yes, but they are NOT exactly Ferrari's now are they,

 

just people taking advantage of the fact that being 30+ years old these parts dont really go the distance and there are people that are willing to pay that much just because they want it and dont want to wait around for another 10 years for one to just pop up.

 

Yes car values have gone up overall, but generally the cars have had a near full resto, but you still hear about some of us picking up a pearler for under 5k, just open your eyes and have a look around at what some of the buys are.

 

I wouldnt pay 10k for a car in bits that i saw on here earlier, only reason he is getting the 11k + whatever is that he has basically had to restore the car completely, with some new or excellent 2nd hand parts, or aftermarket replacements or copies.

but my old lady was willing to go up2 500 for that...she doesnt think another one is ever going to come up.

i was expecting more like 350.

only missed out on getting it because my exact bid came in a second too late.

If you really need one try a Nissan Dealer. If they can't help then you could try dashboard restorations in Queensland I think they are. Just found there website

Matt, Yer thats them! They repair consoles. I always thought the 260 vs 260 2+2 consoles were the same apart from the ashtray at the rear on the 2+2 models! If you get one of these cheap ie $40 and get it repaired you could always have that hole filled!
