zr240 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Was just out at rain soled Sandown and saw a very smashed (think it was green with sign writing on it) 240z. Bit of a sad sight, anyone know who owns it and what happened? Ash Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 3, 2011 Moderators Posted July 3, 2011 The only green 240Z with signwriting I know of is Matty Freeman's zed! Was there earlier but it was still good..uh oh.. It was the one in the Shannons ads. Quote
zr240 Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Yep Thats the one, Was in a really bad way, went in on the front left and also got the rear left. looked like the chassis is twisted a bit! Ash Quote

lightmaster240z Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Sough is the life of a race car but still it may live still right guys :'( :'( :'( Quote
PZG302 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 As long as the rails are good it looks like less damags than mine, so shouldn't be too far away from being as good as new. That is the life of a race car. My philosophy is if you aren't prepared to see your pride and joy a steaming wreck, then it shouldn't be on the track. I have a couple of toys that will never see the track. Quote
620Z Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Yes I was there when it happenned. Matty was having a few mates drive his car. The driver was the manager at Shannon's. So we are presuming the insurance job has already been approved. But under the car it's pretty bad. It won't get back on the road for 6 months if at all. Probably a new shell in order. But not sure if Matty or anyone could be bothered with all the work. We shall see. Sad day. And sadder for Matty. Condolences mate. P.S. And people ask me why my car isn't out there. Hmmm. Quote
Quandary Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Highly unlikely the rails are straight. And even so I hope the repairs are done and don't require a donor car. Quote
benny Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 look at the bright side at least he still has some bonnet Quote
620Z Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Nope I have a photo of the rails actually cracked and about 2-3 inchs away from the body for about a foot. It's stuffed. And this was on the warm up lap. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Oh no, that looks pretty bad. On the warm up lap...... What happened and where? Must have spun to hit the left like that Quote
620Z Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Happened at the dog leg just after tuning off the back straight. Aparently some idiot slowed down in front of them as they were accelerating down the hill. Slammed on his brakes and avioded him and slid into the wall. I think he might have been better to ram him. Not good. Quote
620Z Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Just spoke to Matty. Insurance has been approved already and he has plans to build a bigger better Zed once he finds a good shell. He is excited. So glad to hear all is going well. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 So do shannons cover you when your racing too? Good news! Quote
620Z Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Matty had race insurance for the day. Costs extra. Before you ask I don't know how much. Quote
PZG302 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Seeing those photos after my post, that doesn't look good....... Good to see that there is some coverage for the car, though building a new one will be difficult. Quote
zr240 Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 I would have thought a crap shell is better for a race car After what happened to mine I would never use a nice shell for a race car again! Ash Quote
