CroS13 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 The wiring on my car was hideous, nothing worked when i bought it, i too had major issues with lights and stop lamps etc. I was scratching my head especially when id have 12v at the main harness plug for rear light assembly, but no power at the socket. Turns out all my light globe sockets were corroded, so bad that the pressed in stud at the back for the earth had corrosion between the washer and the socket. looked fine with a visual inspection, peel back the washer and it was rubbish. I ended up having to cut the wires before the light globe holders, buy new ones and solder them all in. With my car, 90% of my electrical woes were bad and corroded earths, but none were broken wires, it was all sneaky corrosion not visible on first inspection. Contact cleaner wont do much to fix the connections, you really have to grab a dremel with a wire wheel brush attachment, strip every connection, and buff all the terminals/posts/earths. I also had to replace all my 6 and 8 pin harness connections, crimp in new terminals, solder them in then re assemble. Rudolf. Quote
Agno Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Chipping away at things bit by bit. I'm in my final semester at uni and that's killing nearly all my spare time currently with my projects plus 2 jobs plus everything else. I did manage to paint the hatch because I got sick of the primer and managed to take it out for a fang at DECA last weekend: I came 3rd and saw off some pretty decent machinery. 1st place went to the VIC champ of the Excel rally championship and 2nd was the guy that won last time so I'm not complaining about that in the slightest. Next stop is Haunted Hills V2.0 on October 5th! Quote
