Scoota G Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Ok i know a while ago a car came up on ebay and we discussed a project Auszcar Build. Now i know that some members would like to keep the parts they have private but remember this is just Theory ie; could it be done. I have 2 spare cylinder heads Rear Taillights (2 seater) One Seat Complete Dash Door hardware Would it be possible for us Victorians to piece together a complete Zed out of our spare parts? Quote
Zeddophile Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I think I still have two window winders, one window roller thingo, and a passenger footrest kicking around (all out of 260Z 2 seater.) Not very helpful, I guess! Quote
garvice Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I have a car with an RB26 half way in. Still needs engine rebuilt, big turbo, intercooler, radiator, driveline, lsd, big! brakes (looking at gtr ones), hell while where at it, we might as well do a paint job and retrim of the seats. You can all finish it off for me, I wont object. HA! Quote
Roberto Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I can supply front and rear bumpers, original springs, 22mm front and 20mm rear swaybars and a set of roundtop SU's Quote
garvice Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I already have the Motec and loom for fuel injection, so don't think I will want SUs on an RB26. Thanks anyway. Quote
RB30X Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Don't think I will want SUs on an RB26. Beerk buk buk buk CHICKEN. Quote
garvice Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Beerk buk buk buk CHICKEN. HA, HA, HA. Sorry Guys, I will leave your thread alone now. Quote
fufu Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 maxima rear disc brake conversion (repair a seal) black fender mirrors (repair the rod) 2 x 240z master cylinders (1 pretty much brand new) 1 x slightly dented front bar a few cracked interior panels. Not a complete set. Just bits and pieces. Quote
zr240 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I have everything but a pedal box Sorry couldn't help myself. Ash Quote
620Z Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 All these parts sound great. But correct me if I am wrong, I think you will need a shell to put them all in/on. My tip is that if you get a shell alot of this stuff might come with it. So really I would be starting there rather than some spare windscreen wiper blades or what ever. Quote
sco_aus Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I probably have a heap of stuff in my storage shed, but its on the other side of town, will check it out when im over there soon. Quote
bryan3976 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 i have a 280zx shell if any one wants it Quote
nizm0zed Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I have enough spare materials lying around to build another custom inlet manifold and some intercooler piping. Who has a turbo? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 3, 2010 Administrators Posted September 3, 2010 I think the first thing you guys need to establish is what the goal of the project is? - Build a drag race Z? - Build a race car? - Have fun building a community Z with whatever bits you can find? I think it would be good to see an L-series drag car, on a budget. See what you can get from the old L-banger. Quote

I mean it's all theory but Dale has a parts car that could be revived with the skill we have available on this forum. Keep thm ideas coming guys, i'd love to see this go from Theory to Practical. sco_aus Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Maybe it could be sold off at the end and the funds go towards something, whether it be for the club, or charity, or something. Could be a good way to get some more coverage for the club in mgazines etc Quote
madz Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 With regards to this "Theoretical" project z becoming "reality" It is common now in communities to have "mens sheds", a council owned building that provides a central location for members of a community to get together and carry out activities such as carpentry and metal working in a social environment. I am not aware of any such places in or around Melbourne, but if a project like this is to happen, might be an idea to apply for one of these "sheds". Not sure how one would go about doing this. Just an idea, either that or someone offer their shed. An auction of the project car, and money can go towards tools, communities, charities etc etc... Sounds like it would be alot of fun Quote
Hunter Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 WHO MENTIONED MY NAME? CHICKEN? lol two full cars as spare parts..... to feed my two going ones Quote

RevZed works with abused kids, so maybe we could work towards an idea like that. Get radio involved and promote the auction on eBay or something? Each of us has different skills: - Bodywork - Paint - Mechanical Who knows maybe even some local businesses would get involved and help out free of charge? Quote
