rocker cover gasket removal

Anyone have any tips for removing an old rocker cover gasket that's rock hard, I've tried a blade and it barely comes off, I thought maybe soak it in thinners?

Try some Locktite gasket remover.

eucalyptus oil...

or very carefully dab on some gel paint stripper..

Wire wheel attachment on grinder or bench grinder. Works for me..

Thanks, now which option to choose, I'll go the cheap way first and use the wire wheel, don't kmow why i couldn't come up with any of these options myself

If you wire wheel you will get a very uneven surface and most likely oil leaks. Go the gasket remover and a bit of elbow grease.

I've done it many times with thermostat housings etc and never apply too much pressure; just enough to remove any old gasket material and that's it. Never had any issues of warped / leaking housings.

A lot of housings are Aluminum so care must be taken.  A brush, especially brass, should, in my opinion, be fine to strip an iron block.  You'll probably get the deck milled/trued alway?  Right?
