Hi folks,

Looking for a nice set of mags and tyres to fit on my 260Z. Got a set with brand new tyres on them (old school cheviot) from someone in the club but they have the wrong offset (need spacers) ... will swap if anyone is keen.

Hey Ross,

They came straight off a 260z without spacers!  Have you altered brakes or suspension?  There is no reason that they shouldn't fit.

Hey Rev,

Yep, don't fit on the front of my 260 - the tyres hit the struts well before the studs reach through the wheel. 185s came off it and these are 205s but I can't think why they wouldn't fit... hoping someone hasn't done anything dramatic in terms of a mod to my car ... doesn't LOOK that way but....

Got any pics of these Cheviots btw?

Heh reminds me of when I went in to buy some ratchet spanners

I asked the shop assistant: 'hey mate do these only operate in one direction?' .  'no... you just flip it over....'

Edit: I had cheviot wheels with 185s and I needed 6mm spacers all around on my 74/75 260z

O.K! in Ross's defence, they came off one of my cars and the 205's sat under the front with absolutely no problem that is probably why he is saying he can't work out why they wont fit!  An easy solution is to try a 185 tyre on the rim that should fix it.  Perhaps this has highlighted a difference of clearance between 74 260 and later models?

Its known wheels from a 240Z will not fit 260Z; offsets are slightly different and have proved it myself. So if the wheels came off an early 260 there is a chance wheel offsets may be similar to a 240Z. Not sure if hub casting is different or not.

Thanks to those that made an effort to be helpful and friendly.

I can't find anything on this forum or any other that suggests why 205s would fit on one 260Z but not on another. Kind of odd.

These wheels do have good tires on them, so if anyone is interested in them let me know - I will flick them on rather than messing around with tyres/spacers or anything else to make them fit.

When i first got my 260Z it had the wrong hub on one side. Not sure what it came off but it made the wheel sit in further. Check both sides of the front for fit and see if it's the same.
