I don't think they would fit going on the offset. The best to find out is to check the back space of your existing rims and compare to the back space of the rims you wnat to buy.

Easiest way to measure the back space is to lay a straight edge across the back of the rim and measure the distance from the face of the wheel mount to the straight edge. If you have tyres on the rims don't forget to subtract the distance from rim to tyre so you are comparing apples with apples.

yea you can get them to fit but are not a bolt on as they are.

you are allowed to use spacers (go for a 25mm thick), but must be of the bolt on type ie. bolt the spacer to your hub then bolt the wheel to the spacer.

Transport authority and engineers dont recommend them but the bolt on type are legal!!! provided you dont alter the track more than i think 1380 in the front and 1273 on the rear (just off the top of my head from my last visit to the approval engineer)

Slip on over the existing studs/hub spacers are NOT legal as they put more bending stress on the studs which they were not designed for.

i would recommend the 25mm thick to push some of the width gain towards your struts by only 10mm which will be fine.

any more q's just post

cheers nato

would this +35 offset have the wheels sitting way under the guards?

What are the recommended max offsets that would not require spacers?

Cheers,

Jack.

+35 is to high so it would make the wheels sit to far under the guards and hit the struts, hence how the spacer would make it fit

as far as i know there aren't many silvia rims that will fit on our cars without spacers unless they had flared guards and weren't very wide, if that makes sense

the max offset depends on the width as its a number in mm as to far the offset is from the middle of the rim. apparently -15 to +25 are the normal kind of limits but as i said it depends, and there where backspacing comes in, of which i was given a good explaination of in the superlites thread

thanks for clearing that up.

just trying to find some decent cheap wheels on ebay, hopefully something will come up with negative ffset to fill out my flared guards, or i guess 8 inch would do this too.

cheers,

Jack.

your best bet is probably the sprinter sites such as toymods.net and ae86drivingclub.com.au, or any r31 skyline sites too? i guess it depends what look your after, i've spent ages looking and have decided to give up and go brand new :?

if you want i can see if the places will do a good deal if i'm ordering another set of superlites, just i guess its a bit scary when we dont know if the 8" will fit or not at the back, but since you have flared guards you should b sweet as long as your happy possibily running a 10mm spacer or so, hopefully it wont need one though. atm though its looking like they will b just under 1g for a set after paying the extra for the different coloured centre. but then there's no need to worry about it having some hairline cracks as they are new :D

one of the shops told me that a fair few of http://www.speedywheels.com.au/alloy.htm will fit, the only ones i remember are longchamp and holotype-R fit, and spyder doesn't. not that i'm 100% on what they said as i didn't get the offsets

If you want to buy these wheels you can order the spacers from a lot of Co's. I bought a set some time ago from a US Co. that charged about AUD$330.00 delivered. The wheels I used were +35 offset and I used 40mm spacers which prolly widen track about 5mm to much but a 25mm bolt on spacer would get those wheels sitting right.

Just an example below:

I know the 15's look good in that pic but personally I reckon 15 inch might look a bit small.

Thanks for posting that Sulio. I think we may need a thread dedicated to wheel fitament to Z's. It seems like alot of people are confused about what works and what doesn't.

I for one understand what PCD is required and I understand what offsets are etc.. However it would be good to have a tutorial on how to measure everything up and how to tell what wheels would work and some common combinations based upon standard/non standard suspension and with and without flares etc..

Yer good idea. I think most know that 114.3mm is the stock S30 PCD which is measured from wheel stud to wheel stud basically. As far as offset anything from 0 to +15 with a 7 inch wide rim works fine. But when you go to an 8 inch wide rim and stock suspension I'm not sure as I know people here like Dave run 8" rim and just clears but the 15x7's I had on the car before took up all the room. So it might depend on tyre size and the lip on the rim, not sure!?

Sulio

Don't mean to hijack the thread but just quickly Evan have you made up your mind yet? I'm pretty eager to see what the 16's will look like on the Z!

i'm semi waiting for nate to get back to me as to what he wants to do, and a guy at work to find out what price he can get them for through some contact. hopefully i'll order them on friday. i'm thinking i should mayb just order a pair of 7" and measure off them but i'm happy using a small spacer and flaring the guards if i have to so i think i'll just order the 8" too, i just put a CCFL in my rear number plate light and it looks sick, and the hids are back in, so after rims i'm going to be happy with my car until the engine blows :D[/thread hijack]

backspace of 115mm fits on front, with standard springs, gets tight after that, dont forget that the wheels have to turn, 17x8s with 235x45 were picking up the guard on lock, easy curable with angle grinder(this is assuming you are not on the concours team)

Diagrams might help understand offset and backspace.

Good diagrams RUSSJZ-ZED. I'll start a new thread with those same diagrams and perhaps Gav can make it a sticky. We can have people contribute what wheels/tyres etc they are running as this seems to be a popular question for Z car owners.
