zed240au Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Mate has put video on u tube showing my zed running at power cruise symons plains. It goes for 9 odd minutes first bit is from my rx4 with my navigator driving shows zed on track then middle section is from another guys rx3 wagon and then last section is from zed gives u idea of acceleration of zed mick Quote
zed240au Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Finally got sick of my diff feeling like it was going to jump out of car on corners .Had done the z31 cv axles conversion with arizona z car solid mount on r200 lsd.Turned outer cv races around so then would fit as per recomendation on another z site So first pulled diff apart all ok there. Checked all bolts tight in tailshaft and stub axle end all good . Checked length of cv shafts found one was touching stub so removed cap and shortened shaft 3 mm . Still didnt fix it so bit bulle and pulled them out went back to std axles woo hoo its all good can corner with confidence So off to cv shaft guy see if he sees anything i cant nope all look good but that turning race around is causing you the problem How do we fix first suggestion was cut axles and shorten 10mm (re weld with chrome moly tube over the shaft to reinforce it )so we can turn races back around One we are going to try is creating a new inner circlip groove 10 mm further up shaft allowing to turn race around see how that goes mick Quote
zed240au Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Well the modified cv shafts have fixed my rear end problems so nice to throw it into corners and not feel like diff is going to jump out of car. Put car back on dyno last month(was part of car show out front of my workshop) found more Hp but tune needs fine tuning since i fitted long tube headers its leaning off at higher revs Had quiet day at work friday so pulled the Wet Nitrous kit out and fitted it too car Was getting excited to try it out Went to local BOC to get some Nitrous only to be told they dont keep it in stock have to order it in lol guess ill have to wait So guess ill get some nitrous and take it to dyno guy for fine tune and see what nitrous shot works best be safer that way Quote
zed240au Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I was very happy today when engineer rang to say he had a bright shiny mod plate for me Car will now be registered as a Ls1 powered 240z instead of the old nissan v8 For something that started out as being straight forward deal the Transport Department tried to make it hard but we won through in the end Thanks to every one who helped when i was frantically trying to find evidence to counter transport departments argument over weight It seems so hard when you show the evidence that a 260z 2 seater weight is 1190 kg and department is saying but what is a 260z 2 seater werent they all 2 plus 2 Just Happy to be legal well as long as they dont look too close Mick Quote
Gordo Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Well done Mick, it's been a long road, but worth it. RB30X Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Glad it all worked out for you Mick. It feels good to now you're legally cruising around in one of a handfull of registered LS1 Zed's in Australia. Quote

Worked really well if you are prepared to replace rotors every 2 sets of pads and a lot of noise and obviously a bit of dust. At least they are carbon metallic pads and not asbestos... Quote
zed240au Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Had great weekend at Powercruise car ran perfect new Federal RSr tyres hooked up great New wheels looked trick New radiator and fan combo kept car cool all weekend in hot 30 c (IT IS TASSIE) New twin 3" exhaust sounded great and fairly sure it let a few extra hp out Lower 4.3 lsd diff finally made 6th gear useful on highway can sit on 115km now at 1800 revs and car is happy plus it sure pulls harder off the line even with the 18" rims Video of car on utube cruising the track have a look Mick Quote
zed240au Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 New 57mm alloy radiator with zirgo fan and shroud Quote
zed240au Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 and the new twin 3" exhaust was damn loud out of the gonzo mufflers so ended up putting two hotdogs in plus modified lukey race muffler to accomodate the two 3" pipes sounds good and does not drone on highway Still coming to grips with the stacked exhaust tips but best i can do with out cutting up the rear of my car it is unique Quote
Riceburner Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Can't beat the stacked muffler, seems to be a really tidy job and looks great too. I'll be doing the same in twin 60mm. Can you post a vid of the exhaust at idle and revving? what length are the resonators? Quote
RB30X Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Looks loud. I wish I had an exhaust shop :'( Quote
zed240au Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Put 2 screw style hotdogs in middle 12" long and another 2 under the diff which where the normal glass packed 12" hotdogs Its loud when u punch it but nice to cruise with too would suggest bit quieter than old 2.5" system with single 2 into one muffler Quote
luvemfast Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 After seeing Steve's (chevZ) LS1 powered Z at Winton. I want one! Quote
Gordo Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Looking good Mick. You must be driving around with a smile on your face. Look forward to seeing you on the 15 th . Cheers Gordon. Quote
KatoKid Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Good job on the exhaust Mick, think stacked is the way I will have to go too. Quote
bluerat Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Highcleare Hillclimb again today, Mick left with a big smile! nailed his PB by 2 seconds a Km, top job big fella. Another two Zed's made the trip up from Hobart to run as well..in style!! Quote
bluerat Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 a couple more Roadworks on the way to the event explains the grubby red Zed...no trailer queen hey Mickle!! Quote
PZG302 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Those wheels look familiar, good to see they are being put to good use. Quote
zed240au Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Was good day well run by the northwest car club Zed ran a treat Went there with plan to get a 37 sec run ended with a 36.33 guess who wants a 35 sec run now Still more in car just driver holding her back now Wheels are getting a work out matt look good and handle great with federal rsr tyres Though guy on radar duties said he clocked me at over 160km with smoke coming off back wheels Cant wait to get her out for another club day Quote
KatoKid Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Good stuff Mick. The stacked rear muffler looks better in that shot than the close up.....think Im convinced. Quote
