C.A.R. Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Well... after 3 months of my spare time it's finally done & ready for the Vic BBQ! We (Joel & I) initially budgeted 6 weeks to perform the rust repairs, lower it, fit new door rubbers & a front spoiler. Unfortunately only the rust repairs & lowering got done. I did however get a chance to fit my Rota rims to it - I think I've convinced Joel to buy a set I'd like to thank Joel for his patience too, as it can't have been easy being 'Zedless' for 3 months! Right. Who's next? Quote
FLEXZED Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 i think you need a holiday mate interested in moving to sydney free board and meals ;D Quote
MR260 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks heaps again Lurch Had a great drive home through the hills and she handles great couldnt get the grin off my face Gotta save for wheels now and finish off the body work then get into the interior and see where things go from there Quote
Lynton Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Lurch, how many inches did you lower that car and what offset are those Rota's sure improves the appeal of the car. Lynton Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hi Lynton, The King springs lower it about 30mm (just over an inch). The Rota specs are: 17x8.5" +4 offset. This spec comes a bit close to the stock spring perch though - I reckon the 17x7.5" would fit with more clearance. Cheers Quote
MR260 Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Hey guys Well made some space in the garage today and got the Zed in there and started filling the repairs Lurch has done for me in preparation for Revzed painting in the new year. Was great meeting up with some of you guys yesterday and getting all motivated again. So the plans now are: A set of 17X7.5 Rotas New door and hatch rubbers Replace all red interior with Black interior Front spoiler Fit center console i brought off Spamaster on the weekend ( havnt forgotten i owe you Bruce) And ofcourse paint repairs. MR260 Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Well ive started covering the bare metal repairs on my Zed. Im using a 2 part polyester filler over the repairs Lurch has done and treated though i cant remember what with, then im using a one step primer filler and then a blade putty for finishing off ready for paint. Does this process sound right or have i got it all wrong? Can i spray the primer filler over bare metal repairs and then use the polyester body filler over that? Obviously my main aim is to cover all exposed metal first Thanks Joel Quote
Mr240z Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Joel, You should use ecth primer on bare metal first.. Quote
MR260 Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Thanks Pauly I did wonder about that but everything ive read so far in regards to polyester filler says it should be applied directly after treating the bare metal with rust converter. So a little confused at the moment. Quote
xa1973 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Check back through the paint and panel posts, weve covered this in detail Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Filler MUST be applied DIRECTLY over the bare metal, Joel. If it's applied over paint it will just fall off... Quote
