Stinkbug Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Hi guys. mom embarking on converting my l26 to efi. I’m going to pull the 4.4l v8 out and replace it with a fuel injected turbo l26. I have the efi manifold and before I spend money on a e88 head with the injector notches I thought I’d ask if it was possible to notch the head for the injectors? Another roadblock is that the current head has the wrong spacing on the top row of bolts to attach the manifold to the head. now, can I redrill and tap the head to suit the manifold bolt holes? I have 2 e88 heads and they are slightly different by the head on the motor seems to have more meat behind where the bolt holes are. pics attached Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 You can grind injector notches into the head with a burr grinder and re-drill the side of the head for the EFI manifold mounting holes. It's been done many times before. Quote

Stinkbug Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 Thanks guys. I’ll embark on modding it on the weekend. OdinZ you sound like my uncle. He was the one that put the v8 in it. I bought the car knowing I’d be pulling it out. It sounds and goes quite well, but I’ve always liked the L6 motor. it will be good for someone wanting a v8 and 5 speed when I pull it out. I’ll be selling the whole conversion. Engine, gearbox, tail shaft etc when I’m done. It all bolts up to the factory mounts. gav240z 1 Quote

I bought mine with the same plan, but now keep changing my mind about what the next motor will be, and also thinking of putting a Holley Sniper self tuning unit on the current motor. krizza 1 Quote
