Thomo260 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hello all. I have been put onto this sit by the Lurch miester and now that I have just purchased my first Z a 78' 260 2+2 I thought I should register. My name is Simon and I am in Ballarat. I have owned about 12 x 1600's and a few 1200's in the past but have always loved the sleek look of the Z's. Car is completely original including glovebox book and spare tyre. My current plans are to leave it standard and remove all the suspension components (bead blast and paint in gloss black), engine and engine bay (remove and clean/detail bay) and have a blast driving it. After reading about the last few drive days you guy's have had I am looking forward to tagging along in the near future. Cheers. Simon. Quote
stevo_gj Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Welcome mate, and congratulations on your purchase she looks great! Quote
dalee Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Welcome Simon She looks like a very nice car. The Rat contigent continues to grow Me Scootag (Mark) & Fuzzydropbear (Rob) Have to catch up sometime and checkout the ride. Cheers Dale Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Welcome aboard mate How does the rest of the bodywork look? Quote
dalee Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Simon The back ground in that photo looks ver familiar! Is that the car that Redan motors had on there lot? A mate only told me on Sunday that they had a car up there. Quote
Thomo260 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Yes Dale, that's the one. I know Russell Mckenzie from being a member of the Ballarat Light Car Club (i am now with Nissan Car Club). Really happy with the body Lurch. The only bit of rust is on RH side next to headlight/bonnet hinge and a bit the size of my thumb nail under the battery tray, the rest is excellent. Car was resprayed about 11 years ago and has been sheded ever since. Was owned by a 60yr old that hardly ever drove it. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 welcome to the site. very nice car by the way. Im impressed not one post bagging the 2+2. hope it stays that way. Quote
620Z Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Nice looking Car. I am surprised Dale didn't pick this one up. Quote
Thomo260 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 2 Extra seats will come in handy as I have 3 kids. Wife will have to stay at home And I can leave the rear seat folded down and pretend when I am solo. Quote
dalee Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Craig - I don't need another car, that would be one for every day of the week. Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Fluted bonnet AND no sunroof - I think you've done well Thomo! Quote
Lynton Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Quote: (Was owned by a 60yr old that hardly ever drove it.) Sounds almost like a me type person........but I wouldn't believe it.........hehehehe!!!! If you put electronic/coil & distributor on and a set of extractors it will do wonders for reliable driveability and better fuel consumption. I like the Dark Green it was rare on the 260's and 1978 was a runnout model before the 280zx was introduced onto the market they look awsome with wide minilites.............Lynton Quote
HELLFIRE! Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 2 Extra seats will come in handy as I have 3 kids. Wife will have to stay at home And I can leave the rear seat folded down and pretend when I am solo. My 2+2 has seating and belts for 5, although sitting on the "hump" aint much fun. Well done with your purchase. Quote
Thomo260 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Finally got the Z home yesterday. Here are some pics of the interior. Handles very well, hardly any body roll at all. Quote
Thomo260 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Body is very straight for age. Car was resprayed 11 yrs ago. Has the dome top SU's but they need a bit of a tune up, they run great just dosn't idle that good but it sounds like it has a vacuum leak on the back carby. Quote

FuzzyDropbear Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Wow, that's a great find mate! Looks like it's in good condition. Good to see we're getting more people from the Rat joining. We'll have to organize a bit of a Rat meet to check out your Z and get the guided tour of Dale's collection Quote
DoctorZ Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Nice buy, I can only hope you paid way more than I did for mine cause my 2+2 doesn't look like it's in as good condition as that!! Quote
Thomo260 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Thought I better put in a reply so you all dont think that I have introduced myself and bolted. Had the car at home for a week before taking it to get a couple of rust spots fixed up so I can go to town on cleaning it up. When it's home I will start a thread in the 'members project' part, as I may be asking questions along the way. Just need to get it ready for the Grampians run for now. Cheers all. Simon. Quote
LiL Buck Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Hello, Hope to see more of the car and reports on all the cool stuff to come ! Quote

Thomo260 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Thankyou all for the welcomes. Scoot I have seen your car a few times around Ballarat, It probably sealed my decision to buy a Z after owning a dozen 1600's. Quote
