redrbzed Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Recently I decided to pull some weight out of my car in the hope of improving my lap times. I decided to fit a fibreglass dash and remove the heater and fan as well as all the sound deadening in the car. The demister function is now performed by a little camping hair dryer which works very well. So, below is a breakdown of all the bits and their weight, in total I managed to remove 35KG. centre console 1.7KG speedo and cable 1.3 ducts 0.5 heater control 1.0 heater 6.3 fan 3.7 dash 9 sound deadening 7KG carpet 7.4 I hope this is of help to anybody considering doing the same. cheers Quote

redrbzed Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 I found it on ebay, 12volt hair dryer. Did some mods so that it can blow hot or cold air, standard only hot air. cheers, Sinisha Quote
PeterAllen Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Wonder what a brake pedal weighs 1310 grams, actually! PS. I get the joke. Quote
redrbzed Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 I don't get it! How is that going to improve my lap times? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 26, 2009 Moderators Posted January 26, 2009 I think the weight of the anchor you would have to throw out the window each time you want to stop will far outweigh the weight saving of the brake pedal... Quote
