Recently I decided to pull some weight out of my car in the hope of improving my lap times.

I decided to fit a fibreglass dash and remove the heater and fan as well as all the sound deadening in the car.

The demister function is now performed by a little camping hair dryer which works very well.

So, below is a breakdown of all the bits and their weight, in total I managed to remove 35KG.

centre console 1.7KG

speedo and cable 1.3

ducts 0.5

heater control 1.0

heater 6.3

fan 3.7

dash 9

sound deadening 7KG

carpet 7.4

I hope this is of help to anybody considering doing the same.

cheers

I think the weight of the anchor you would have to throw out the window each time you want to stop will far outweigh the weight saving of the brake pedal...
