C.A.R. Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Buy some suitable width and thickness adhesive closed cell foam from your local hardware store. Quote

If the gap is too small to use foam then you could experiment using some "moisture curing, polyurethane glue" - clean and dampen the surfaces and then squeeze on the glue, it expands as it cures so can fill small gaps. Another option maybe getting a strip of mass loaded vinyl to insert into the gap. (photo from an early 260z door - shows original "foam") Quote
gilltech Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 What about one of those gap-filling expanding spray foam products that plumbers use to seal around pipes. Quote
NickF Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 Thanks I guess some type of dense foam will be the way to go?, the bar is screwed on at one end and welded the other. have unscrewed but it seems not to want to move should I force it then compress foam or will I distort the bar? Quote
