Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 3, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 3, 2008 Anything is possible as long as you have the moula.....and that motor looks like you need lots of cash for!! Go for it if you own a couple of oil fields
George
interesting to say the least. would be good for power:weight but not for the pocket. 400HP @ 10,000 rpm with stock street cams <--- insane 245 ft-lbs torque @ 7500 rpm <--- pretty weak but not bad i guess 200 lbs engine weight = 90kg = porn The engine was still pulling strong at 10,500 rpm dyno run vid. pretty cool http://www.h1v8.com/f/dyno_mpeg_compressed.mpg would love to drive this just for the high rpms. C.A.R.
And you will also get beatern by someone with a well built L28 off the line! WOW!
George
they build 90kg 400hp L28's by the dozen now i see? nice.
C.A.R.
I'm taking orders now. Peak torque output is fairly high up in the rev range - I doubt it would be very quick off the line, but if someone wants to prove me wrong...
George
yeah the torque is low and high rev but it looks like they built them with clubmans in mind (?).
eddii
Do I hear group buy? lol!!!! 90kg WOW that's light-ass. it'll be good power to weight ratio and weight distribution.
Administrators gav240z Posted September 3, 2008 Administrators Share Posted September 3, 2008 90kg WOW that's light-ass. I could bench press that motor . Sounds like an awesome motor, would be like driving a v8 motorcycle.
mrp69
got a email reply from the builder of this motor and you can get it for a small price of $28500 USD peter
Administrators gav240z Posted September 7, 2008 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2008 got a email reply from the builder of this motor and you can get it for a small price of $28500 USD peter Bah, I'd much rather an RB or SR motor. Think of all the mods you could do to an L28 with that kind of coin.
Robstar
Woah, 28.5k.. This engine was definately made for some crazy ass sidewinder.
herrods
wouldn't you be better off, and still carrying most of your money, to go the V8 out of a lexus? This would have more torque, but less power, and more possibility for mod and ease of part access for repairs. also these run a 6 bolt main, and are happy to accept boost, which means later TT is not out of the question. I think there are easier ways to get the same amount of power/torque etc without breaking the bank, and without getting so far up a niche market u find yourself on the creek without a paddle to go search for that new part u need. Lastly, with a lexus V8 you could use a supra, or maybe skyline gearbox, and the bellhousing will not need customising, more dosh down the drain spent attaching a gearbox to that motor. George
i think you guys are judging this engine on what you expect/need rather than what IT was designed for. it's a well priced specialty engine which can't be compared to the stuff we would want in a Z to drive to work. RBZ 260
well said george that engine cannot be compared to anything we would put in our z. 90kg is very light for a 400hp engine. only other light weight engine i can compare that too is a rotary. but rotaries do have their issues too. for a specialist engine it is reasonably priced. would you pay $80k plus for a lambourghini v12? a new 350 chev motor for a boat will set you back 20k for the efi version and its still pushrod with small mods to suit the boat and still mare 330hp and weighs as much as a small car. thats probably more at home in one of the clubmans or race cars. and for people that have balls of titanium to use them to full potential. for lightness and power rotary turbo could be a good candidate.rotaries can be pushed to give big hp and still be reliable. but dont expect to have much left in the coin department.probably close to that v8. i know what i rather have. Almost identical to the real thing. http://www.superreplicaslamborghini.com/superreplicascontent/superreplicasarticles/lamborghini-cars.html
