WTB 5 Spd Manual Gearbox for 260z

After buying the wrong gearbox from an R30 (It is attached to an L24 Engine if anyone wants to buy it) I am now on the market for the right one

I have never tried to ship anything from Perth, let alone a whole gearbox though. Any recommendations on a shipping company to get a quote from? I will call that number when I get home this afternoon.

Why is the box wrong? I thought if it fitted a L24 engine it would bolt straight onto a L26? Where is the problem?

 

Is this the one on eBay?

Yeah basically its too short. Lurch pointed out to me this morning that my gearstick will be in under the dash  :-\

 

I'll probably get that one in Perth. I've sent an email off requesting a shipping quote from 'Pack and Send'. Hopefully it won't be much more than 150 but I really have no idea what shipping is like.

For anyone considering shipping costs from Perth to Brisbane, I was quoted:

 

 

Pick Up Kallaroo to Pack & Send Depot Balcatta $35 (optional)

Packing $40

Freight to Clayfield $123

 

Total $198

Costs incl GST

 

 

This seems a reasonable price for shipping, so once the guy selling it answers his phone hopefully I can sort something out. I was thinking that I would get him to send me a copy of his driver's license in an email so that I have some insurance on my end that he won't just keep my money. Does anyone know what kind of bank transfer is instant? I heard someone say that if I wire the money over it happens immediately.

One quick way to deposit money is if you know which bank he is with, do an "over the counter" deposit into his account with cash. That is if its a bank and not a credit union or weird unheard of bank etc..Usually its instant.

Why don't you try Paul at Zbitz, he will have a few gearboxes there in different prices and conditions. I also assume as you bought an Auto you will be after the other bits too, which he should have.

 

The best thing about Paul is that he is in Qld!

If it's not too late...

 

I've got a 5 speed I'm selling still fitted to my 240z.  It's a great box still in great condition.  I'm getting a short ratio box built for me so that's the only reason I'm selling it.  I'm in Bayswater, Melbourne if it's more convenient, $500.00 

 

Will need to be removed from the car first which is off the road for a while having a full respray.

Gearbox from Perth was dodgy, need to get the rear housing from another box to fix it. I'm going to give Paul a try, but I thought I might see if any of the forum members here have an old, crappy, noisy gearbox that I can buy so I can take the parts out that I need. It pretty much just needs to be able to select individual gears and then not have the gearstick pop back to the centre.

thanks for the offer but shipping wouldn't be worth it, even if the box was free 

 

Paul from Zbitz is going to sell me the parts I need for $150 from one of his boxes and i'll give him what I don't use back.
