I've used FromJapan in the past. But only for small items, watches. Clear payment / fee structure with regular updates as to the status of the deliveries. Ability to bundle items, to reduce final despatch cost. Items always turned up well packaged.

Cheers,

Hi,

I developed more of a fascination for a particular movement. The Seiko 6m15 world timers. There from the early to mid 90's. Fascinatingly complex watches. Seiko fitted it into a number of different cases. A watch were the hands can move backwards hooked me.. Lol

And then there was the Sieko Age of Discovery collecting, but I had to stop myself, it was getting out of hand.. Lol

Too funny, below is an image of the first decent watch I purchased.

Picked it up duty free back in ‘92. Still have it but it needs a factory reset or something.

also have a Seiko SKX007 and a Citizen Eco Drive.

I am currently starting down the Seamaster or Speedmaster route.

Nice, a 5T52 with the original band. Beautiful condition. There getting hard to find. Well, without spending a small fortune.

I couldn't bring myself to spend anymore than about $300 on a yahoo auction watch. It's always a gamble. And the quality of pictures can be awful.

The gold centre one works beautifully ( needs new battery). The silver one on the right is very rare, but doesn't work or have the original strap . Going to transplant the workings from a lesser model into it.

Ended up with about 12, but sold a few over the years.

Ps. Thanks for separating this topic.

Hi,

are you saying that my World Timer with Box etc could be worth a few dollars ?

Suppose it depends on your definition of a small fortune . I think $500+ for a used 25+ year old seiko watch falls into that category :)

This is your typical overpriced ebay listing. But you don't see many with the original straps. Collectors love that stuff.

Another issue with the gold seikos is that a lot of them get replated. And it's very obvious, I have one and it's very clear to see.

Would it surprise anyone if we saw Gav rocking a Z Rally Clock watch?

You could probably make a custom face for a smart watch that would come close.

@gav240z has probaly already done that though ?

Gesss ::) I should have bought then back when I use to sell them back in the eighty

And here was me thinking it was a worthless old watch these days.

Haven’t worn it in 20+ years, glad I didn’t toss it.

I've got a couple of 'old Seikos'. Here's one of them. Might qualify as a dashboard clock. Probably for the wrong type of 'Rally' though...;)

I started to, but I never wore my digital watch so kind of gave up on the idea, my step dad likes the watch though. It was an Android based watch.

They were standard equipment on all sorts of Imperial Japanese Navy ('I.J.N.') aircraft from around 1943. Manufacturer was 'Seikosha'.
