Brad
Hi, I am just in the middle of putting on a new set of tyres onto my 280zx 14 inch alloy mags etc and want to know if I should put the original size 195x70x14s on or go to something wider which may handle better?? Anyone had experience or is it noticeable? How wide can be fitted?? Thanks Edited July 24, 2017 by Brad
krizza
Hi Brad, I had 215/65R14 on my 14x6.5 jellybean mags previously and I thought they were a good size / fit. Seeing as the 280zx can take even bigger rubber than the 260z I would go for that size. Only downside is it is becoming harder to find decent rubber in 14", this was the main reason I moved up to 16x7 rims recently.
gilltech
Which 280ZX mag have you got? The one that was also fitted to 260Zs is 5.5" wide, but there were other designs used on the 280ZX that were 6". That will have some influence on what size you choose. If you go wide just make sure the front tyres don't hit the front valance panel on lock. dat2kman
Wider, will not handle better. Run the next size up, if anything. Stock was 185 ( series 1 ZX "iron cross" 5.5" design) or a 195 if it was a Series 2 ZX rim ( 5 spoked 6" design) Either a 195 or a 205 width tyre in a 60 or 70 series profile If you want more grip, go to a 7" x15" and fit a 205/55 or a 225/50 Your rolling diameter will be close to standard. dat2kman
Wheel nuts for series 1 & 2, also 260Z mag, are all same. The flat washers very in thickness, slightly. If you need some, I can supply.

Not sure if this qualifies as decent rubber however Dunlop have recently released a new tyre range the "Dunlop Sport Classic"
Groundhog
There are some for sale on Ebay. The photos are useful for the size dimensions.https://www.ebay.com.au/i/122725294983?chn=ps&dispItem=
theremm
Hi guys, I'm about to put a set of 14 x 7 / 14 x 7.5 watanabes on my 240z. Deciding between either a 195/65/14 or 205/60/14. I don't have lowered springs so I was concerned going too small and having a big gap under the guards.. Can anyone show pictures of something similar?
