crowe Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Does anyone know what the go is regards to the radiators available in the zed's. Mine needs a recore and i got some prices....ouch......most companies say that the radiator out of 76 260Z should be 3 core but the one i have is only 2 core Can people fill me in on what type (apperently there is different sizes too)and how many cores your rads have in your Z cars. cheers, callum Quote
david240z Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Hi Callum, I have a '77 260Z 2 seater. I had the radiator re-cored a few years back and it is now 3 core. I think they might be 2 core original. With the 3 core you will never have a problem with overheating which might be good for you in Queensland. Cheers, Dave Quote
Toecutter Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I believe radiators from the 260 auto's hang down a little lower but then again that might just have been a one off with a parts 2+2 car I had. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 3, 2005 Administrators Posted November 3, 2005 Hi Crowe, I was under the impression from everything I read that the Z's were equipped with 3 core from 71 onwards. I would definately recommend going with a 3 core since it was common for Z's to have vapour lock, mind you I've never had that problem and 2 of my Z's had 3 core radiators. I don't believe the 260z radiators hang lower because of the radiator itself I think this is an issue with the actual mounting position since the support itself is different between 240z and 260z. Huw Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 i don't know if this helps, but what i did for my 240 (my radiator was 2 core (1971)) and the 280 3 core one was too tall (bottom of radiator hung down too low). so i pulled a 260 2 core radiator that was in good nick, took it to a radiator shop (on foam st, mordialloc). Whilst it was being checked and tested for leaks, i asked them to change it into a 3 core radiator. this took about 3 days (including getting parts in) and was pretty cheap. so the radiator is now 3 core, and fits really well (looks stock(ish) too).
