So sad to hear of the accident in Italy involving Nicky Hayden, latest reports don't seem to optimistic but we can only hope.  Its crazy to think that racing a motorcycle at often insane speeds is safer than riding a cycle on the road!  There have been too many accidents lately with Champion Italian cyclist Michele Scarponi recently being killed in a training accident and Chris Froome knocked off his back by a driver who drove onto the footpath to hit him and then didn't stop.  What are these car drivers thinking, obviously not much!  Please take care!

Ironic isn't it and here goes a little 'survive and mend' thought to him. But cycling on roads without dedicated bike lanes is not as safe as some might think, the speed difference and zero protection for a start.

So much hate out there for cyclists. Some do the wrong thing I know but still hard to understand.

'Hate' is a bit harsh but a dislike for some cyclists is a fairly recent thing, brought about by their insistence on riding on roads where there is a lot of traffic and where they interfere with the smooth flow of said traffic. It never used to be like that, cyclists generally kept out of the way possibly because they had a well developed sense of self preservation.

Of course accidents do happen, I'm not commenting on the NH incident.

I don't hate cyclists I just don't like it that they disrupt the traffic and don't pay registration for the privilege. Many have no interest in following road rules, often causing issues that piss off paying road users. Cause they don't have rego plates they get away with it.

Why should a motorcyclist pay rego and not a bicyclist anyway?

we are talking about Italy here not Australia. Love for cycling in European countries is strong especially Italy and France.

This was just an unfortunate accident. I doubt there was any intent.
