Cliff Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Hi Guys, What are the differences in the L28 engine from a Zed and a Patrol? I have done some Dr Googleing but only found some abstract stuff. Cheers Cliff Quote

Retro Z Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Patrol usually has a p90 or p90a head with hydraulic lifters and a lazier cam profile. Usually a different carb and extractors aswell. Many would have been changed or modified over the years so its hard to pinpoint the difference. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 14, 2017 Administrators Posted May 14, 2017 Camshaft profile is also different, usually aimed at torque over high end rpm. This can make an L28 feel a bit agricultural in a sports car. Unless of course you change the camshaft profile to suit. Have a read of this. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1738-l26-refresh-thought-id-share-the-results/ Quote
road rider Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Pretty sure the sump location is different between the two. Which would mean modifying the oil pick up. Quote
C.A.R. Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Pretty sure the sump location is different between the two. Which would mean modifying the oil pick up. Incorrect. Sump has extra capacity however (deeper). Quote
